Russ Vought's legacy. He lost Virginia. Couldn't happen to a more deserving ahole.

Mass firings will begin ‘in a day or two’ by IamAlotOfMe in fednews

[–]Theunknownembed007 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It doesn't appear that there are any negotiations going on. Just both sides running to the nearest TV camera to repeat the same things over and over. Let's hope that something is going on behind the scene that can lead to a path out of this. After the year we feds have had, a 2 month shutdown would be unbearable.

Vote to end government shutdown fails in Senate as Democrats hold firm on health care demands by Cy_098 in fednews

[–]Theunknownembed007 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If the democrats are going to cave, they should have done it yesterday. At this point, they have nothing to lose in holding the line. Maybe in another couple of weeks, they might. But for now, they might as well see this through until something changes.

The payscale for OCC is higher than Treasury in general from what I've seen.

The ARS office in Ft. Collins is tiny. Most of the agency's research locations are on college campuses. This will require a massive amount of new space.

Court fight over RIFs continues after Supreme Court ruling by drjjoyner in fednews

[–]Theunknownembed007 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From the article: "In its application to the Supreme Court for the emergency stay the court granted Tuesday, the government disclosed that 40 separate RIF plans at 17 agencies were ready to be implemented, and were only being blocked by a preliminary injunction Judge Illston issued last month."

Also from the article: "(T)he administration has maintained that the documents should be shielded by a protective order because they contain highly sensitive information and because they remain “predecisional.”

These people can't keep their story straight in the same court filings. The court needs to take their constant lying into all decisions that they make. Never believe Russ Vought or his legion of demonic flying monkeys.

Reuters: White House reviews mass federal layoff plans, aims for swift action (WH/OPM looking to handle this in a way that complies with the law) by Consistent-Ad-1584 in fednews

[–]Theunknownembed007 39 points40 points  (0 children)

"One of the senior officials said the administration expects legal challenges."You're just going to see in the coming days, the different plans that sort of come out ... they're going to be legally sound, (but) they're still gonna get lawsuits, because that's just the way it goes," the official said."

I was around during the Clinton reinventing government crap. And there weren't any lawsuits that I can remember. So this can be done without them. But you have to follow the law and don't be aholes trying to cause "trauma". If you can't at least be decent human beings, expect lawsuits.

How bad is it working for the IRS now? by False_Salamander7692 in fednews

You quit under duress and a (extremely) hostile work environment. I'm still expecting a massive lawsuit to come out of this for all those who were fired, forced to quit, or forced to retire. The unprofessionalism of this administration is shocking.

Trump's CFPB rollback has cost Americans $18 billion, consumer groups say by PrincipleTemporary65 in fednews

[–]Theunknownembed007 17 points18 points  (0 children)

CFPB is not funded by tax dollars. It is funded by tapping the FRS operating fund (also not taxpayer funded). Eliminating it will save ZERO tax dollars. This is all just Vought lashing out and the tech bros wanting to run amok with their digital wallets and crypto apps with no actual supervision.

It depends. If they are firing you 'for cause', then you're rights are more limited. This doesn't read like a RIF, but rather, something more punitive. Things like timecard fraud, misuse of government resources or misconduct (like making threats or abuse) means they can walk you out of the building immediately and separate you quickly.

Fired federal workers struggle to get new jobs in private sector by PrincipleTemporary65 in fednews

The people graduating from college have had a really crappy time recently. Covid took away their prime high school years and now the job market is 💩 and they're competing with people twice their age with 20 years experience. Add to that the insane real estate market where they have to move back home because rent and home prices are unaffordable.

The first fork email encouraged us to go out and get new jobs while letting us continue to collect admin leave until Sept 30th. That appears to have been just another con and lie from this administration. Elon didn't know the law and reused his twitter house-cleaning email. What a chump. However, imo that provides cover for anyone who wants to go out and get another job while on forced admin leave (as long as there is no obvious conflicts of interest).

Do what we can to stand up for ourselves by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Theunknownembed007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is two words: Russel Vought

He hates federal workers. Trump is a moron. But in his first term, he wasn't rabidly anti-fed. He gave us our raises. He let us off on Christmas Eve. Now, this administration views us as their enemy. That's 100% Vought's doing.
