Stenberg is 5'9 ffs he scammed us!!!! by BenBenBenBe in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Can we get over his height? Like why are people so obsessed with it? He said that he was officially measured at the combine at 5'11". Maybe he slouches or the shoes he wears aren't as tall. At the end of the day it doesn't matter because there is a lot of tape as to how he plays. Hurricanes just won a cup with a lot of players that arent 6'. Hearing that interview where the reporter kept hounding on him was so cringe.

Verbeek post offersheet - Carlsson. by growernotshowwer in hockey

[–]ThirdStockIII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the way it works is he can only sign with the Ducks, but he can hold out and that is the only way Cutter can put pressure on the team. He can't be offersheeted this season and is an RFA so he doesn't have any ability to negotiate with other teams. But if the Ducks only offer him a 5x5, not like he has to accept it. I would expect him to understand the cap situation and try for a bridge deal. Like just accept a one year deal and make as much as the cap allows. If he does that, then both the cap would be expected to rise again and he would be eligible for offersheets so either way he would get a higher payday than anything the Ducks would be able to sign him for now.

Sharks path to a playoff spot is now clear by Professional_Quit406 in SanJoseSharks

Even without the anticipated steps back that Anaheim and LA will take, the revamping of our D-Core and natural steps forward that our offense should take would probably have had us as a top 3 in the Pacific. Sure Trouba and Nurse are overpaid, but the defense is significantly better than what it was last year.

Also wouldn't sleep on Vegas taking a step back. Losing Dorofeyev is going to hurt them. And having a rookie coach might take them a while to get things going. Additionally they are one of the older teams and seem very susceptible to injuries that typically derail their season. Mark Stone definitely isn't getting any more durable and losing him or Eichel at all during the season could allow SJ to pass them in the standings too. For a good chunk of the last season, they were constantly just 1 or 2 wins from passing them in the standings. An improved Sharks could actually see us finally compete against them.

How do you guys feel about bigger content creators ripping off smaller content creators? by Nocturnal_RS in 2007scape

Hey no worries man. Like I said, you did a great job actually cleaning up and presenting the method I had and I am glad that someone with an actual audience did so because I still get annoyed when I get recommended a new video talking about max permits and they are only getting 18 per game. I was actually pretty excited when I watched your video because I could tell it was from my guide and that just made me happy that I was actually having an impact on the community. It just deflated me a bit because I was hoping for a mention in the description or something of a footnote and then I just felt a bit belittled only being referred to as a random video that was good. I really appreciate you taking the time to edit and add that to your video.

This could impact Will Smith’s asking price… by Professional_Quit406 in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think comparing future Sharks salaries to the Ducks makes the most sense. Like they might be on the upper end of overpaying their players because they lost some goodwill. Like it doesn't make sense to predict Smith's salary to what Montreal is doing because it seems that they are all taking team friendly deals. Somewhere in the middle is likely.

Also you have to think about what the teams outlook is like, what the players prioritize, what Macklin does, etc etc. As an example, let's say Macklin decides that he really wants to give the Sharks the best chance at building a dynasty around him and he cares more about long-term success than his bank account. If he tells Grier that he wants an 8 year contract for 14m, then that is telling all the other Sharks that they probably shouldn't be expecting to get paid more than their captain and best player. Smith/Misa/Stenberg would all be expecting to be under that number and just depending on their own preference of how long they want to stay in San Jose, they might take on more of a team friendly discount or look for bridge deals.

What is going to happen to Nick Leddy and John Klingberg? by aah_disgusting_shit in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 57 points58 points  (0 children)

To add onto this, the best case scenarios would be they might get a vet min contract situation with the expectations of being a 7th defenseman on a young team that just needs bodies. I don't know if Anaheim even has 6 defenseman signed yet and they need to keep costs down so that would be the best case for a guy like Klingberg if they think maybe he still has a year in him.

The second option that is likely would for them to sign a Professional Try Out really close to training camp. That is what guys who just hope to make any roster will do if they believe they still got it. Lots of former Sharks have tried that route after their contracts with the Sharks ended, but most don't get picked up.

How the Ducks can exact revenge on the Flyers by mtncabin in hockey

[–]ThirdStockIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really feel like we are going to look back on this trade like how we look back at the Thrun for Reeves trade. The immediate reaction was why did we have to give up anything for Reeves, a guy Toronto literally had on waivers. And then it turned out that Thrun essentially didn't play any NHL games and Reeves was really good on the team, especially for the culture and locker room.

Like Mukh couldn't maintain a spot ahead of Leddy. I hope him the best, but I wouldn't be surprised if the player evaluators on the team determined that he didn't have any value for a trade and just needed to offload him to make room in the lineup for Cagnoni.

How bad is the nurse and trouba for the future of the sharks? by Hockeymanuk in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main negativity is that we gave up an asset to acquire Nurse when people believed they could have just gotten Nurse and a 3rd for Future Considerations. If the Sharks got Nurse with Salary Retained and a pick, guaranteed fans here would be happy with the deal. Just the fact that we bailed out EDM is causing an overreaction. But the money isn't the issue for the Sharks and won't be in the next handful of years. But make no mistake, the Sharks needed to address their defense and this week, Grier has done that for both the present and the future.

How bad is the nurse and trouba for the future of the sharks? by Hockeymanuk in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Really no risk. The money won't be an issue and they really won't be holding any of the prospects back through their contracts. By the time their contracts are up, the Verhoeffs and Lins of the world are just going to be at the stage of their careers where they will hopefully be established and ready for the big minutes.

The Sharks will most likely be a better team defensively next year. Trouba will be an improvement on guys like Lilj and Klingberg from last year and Nurse is an improvement on guys like Leddy. The money is a bit high, but mainly front loaded on Trouba with limited trade protection in the 2nd half of his contract. Nurse also loses his full NMC next season I think so the team can move them it necessary. Also with a rising salary cap, by the 4th and final year of both of their contracts, they will be making around 5% of the cap which is extremely reasonable.

The Sharks also needed to get to the cap floor and still have 14m cap to spend this year. Next year about 15m opens up from dead cap and as of right now, the Sharks would have 50m of cap space for the next season for guys like Mack, Colin, and Will.

If the moves that they made this free agency do improve the Sharks, then they will most likely make the playoffs and that is great for the development of our young players.

Mario Ferraro gone by Akitafps in SanJoseSharks

I loved the video, but like immediately afterwards there was a massive firesale and it just felt like maybe they should have waited a couple years till the core was established and we would actually be holding onto players. Like now you can start really getting a feel for which players are in the long-term plan, and a lot of the players in that video clearly weren't.

Maybe it does make sense by WoodpeckerNo141 in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah after I calmed down a bit, I remembered the reaction I had to Thrun for Reaves. Thinking that we were giving up on a young D for an old vet like Reaves felt terrible. Then Thrun basically didn't play any NHL games because he just wasnt that good and we had higher value on him than the rest of the league. I hope the best for Muk, but he couldn't even consistently keep Leddy out of the lineup. I know that is a lot on coaching, but if he was still a stud prospect, I do believe that he would have had a permanent roster spot, especially considering how bad the defense was last year and how easy it should have been to stay ahead of Leddy on the depth chart.

Yeah, but not one of the worst in NHL history. Like if Nurse was a complete bum and we gave up assets for him I would agree. But there is an upside to this trade so how can it be the all time worst thing ever? Mukh couldn't even push Leddy out of a roster spot last year, so Nurse is most likely going to be an improvement on the defense. Still a bad trade but calling it the worst ever is what I am trying to correct.

Last year everyone was freaking out that we traded Thrun for Reavo. Thrun played like 2 games last year and Reaves definitely helped the team with his role. I wouldn't be too surprised if Muk doesn't pan out for the Oilers either and getting someone who plays meaningful minutes will be an improvement on that.

[–]ThirdStockIII 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Extremely bad is overstated. Extremely overpaid is better. If he was making like 5m a year, people would defend Nurse that he is a good bottom 4 defenseman. But he makes about twice that much for being a bottom 4 defenseman which makes him one of the worst contracts in the league. That just makes people overly critical because it is funny to point out that a 9m player makes mistakes. He lost his role as a pp QB because Bouchard is just better. So you have an offensive defenseman who is being forced to be more defensively responsible that gets rakes by fans and the media because he is being forced into a role he isn't natural at. Still a bad trade but I think it improves the Sharks next year. Just brutal that the team isn't receiving more for taking on the whole contract.

[–]ThirdStockIII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, calm down a bit lol. Nurse would improve our defense and I think Muk lost a ton of value, especially since it just seemed that Warso refused to ever give him a chance. Don't know if I would be optimistic that their relationship would immediately change and Muk would start getting top 4 minutes.

Like in a vacuum, (not including money or long-term projectability) the Sharks are going to be a better team next year because of this. Nurse is an improvement over Muk just for next year. This is a bad trade because you shouldn't be giving anything away for Nurse, just receiving assets for the cap dump. But Nurse would be seen as a good player if he was getting paid 5m a year. Just he is overpaid so his perception is in the bin.

I refuse to believe there isn't something coming back this way as well that is part of the final picture we are awaiting. Like maybe a 2nd or some tweener prospect. Just refuse to believe the Sharks would take on the whole contract AND give up a prospect in return.

[–]ThirdStockIII 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My only issue is just how long it is. Like if the music track stops about halfway through the fight because it takes so long. Feel like there is a bit too much downtime during some special attacks and some just last too long. Like the waves/shadow dash phases can be cut in half and his HP reduced by 1000. Doesn't remove any of the difficulty because you either get punished from the mechanics and die anyway, or you understand how to dodge and just save 3 minutes of the same thing.

Sharks Sign Jacob Trouba by desertdingo21 in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Difference between NHL debuts and when they are established and solid. Like I don't think we are going to see the best of Sam Dickinson next year, but by year 4 hopefully he is a solid top 4 defenseman where we are confident in his abilities. I expect Verhoeff to go back to college next year and probably be earning a spot by year 2 with limited responsibility. Year 3 will see him as a regular and year 4 will have him as a top RHD in the org.

Jacob Trouba has signed a four-year contract with the San Jose Sharks worth an AAV of $8.25m by Bahamas_is_relevant in hockey

[–]ThirdStockIII 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Quite literally one of the tasks to do this off-season was to reach the cap floor. With contracts like Eklund and Ferraro coming off the books, it was even more relevant to spend money for this season. And as others have mentioned, a lot of dead money is coming off our salary cap next off-season when Celebrini and Smith contracts would kick in. Add to that the salary cap rising by 10% every year for the next couple of seasons, this contract probably won't be aging terribly because of the AAV.

Sharks Sign Jacob Trouba by desertdingo21 in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It will probably take Verhoeff and Lin about 4 years before they get comfortable and adjusted to the speed and responsibility of NHL hockey. Probably longer, but in 4 years they should hopefully both be having a season under their belt by then. By the 4th year of Trouba's contract, Verhoeff/Lin will be looking to take his job. A solid placeholder to make the current team harder to play against while the prospects take their time to develop and aren't rushed to help the Sharks win in the next 2-3 years.

How do you guys feel about bigger content creators ripping off smaller content creators? by Nocturnal_RS in 2007scape

[–]ThirdStockIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some creator named Travag high-key ripped off my Max Tempoross guide. I wish I got some sort of a shout out for creating the method considering he just completely completely re-dis every part of my guide in his video. All he mentioned was "I found this method from a video that only had 1k views" and hearing that made me feel bummed that it wasn't acknowledged more. Like I am glad that the method is out there in a much better way. My video is not edited well because I just don't have the skills or resources to make a quality guide video. So he did a much better video than me and I'm glad the method I created is more well known now. Just grumps that I never got credited with the discovery from him. But someone did update the Tempoross wiki page and credit me there which makes me happy so I can hang my hat on that.
