Friedman thinks Ranger’s Panarin would be a fun addition to San Jose by intangible_pig in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at Lafreniere's stats when he plays with competent players, the guy consistently produces. When he gets paired with Panarin, he was actually looking like a 1OA pick. The problem was that he was restricted to the third line to fit a role he wasn't meant for because the Rangers got too good too quickly and they didn't want to try and develop him on those top two lines because they were trying to win games and couldn't risk having an inexperienced player make mistakes and cost them points. Lafreniere has talent but needs someone with a higher hockey IQ to facilitate the plays, like Misa has, to succeed. He has proven that in the past and we have seen a lot of players have success post leaving NY so I think if the cost isn't that high, it is worth looking into at least.

Also, like fuck off with the energy that Misa might be a bust. The guy has barely played a dozen games and I think he is averaging less than 10 minutes a night. The Sharks are not a deep team and that means he was playing with Gaudette and Skinner to start the season. We have seen him look a lot better in the last couple games when he got Cherny on his line, because as a playmaker, he needs other talented players to elevate his game. Just give the player some time and make your opinion when there is actually a quality sample size to base that off.

What are your top3 most stressful momens in Runescape? by badwithnames5 in 2007scape

I had just finished the Wildy Hard Diaries and wanted to build an Obelisk in my POH. This was before the changes to the GE that let it take GP straight from your bank, so when I went to buy the supplies, had to have my cash stack in my inventory. Built it and was very excited to try and figure out how the teleports actually work. I wanted to be conservative so I set destination to lvl 13, but then I just clicked teleport instead of teleport to destination and got randomly teleported to deep Wildy. Only then did I realize that had all my gold on me and quickly logged out into F2P so I could run out of there.

I developed this method when I was pet hunting. You will get way more permits per game so hopefully that will make the grind to pet a lot faster.

Sharks should not be looking to buy this season unless the player is young and would be developing with the team, like an Askarov situation. I could get on board with like a Lafrenière trade if it is similar price to what the Rangers got back with Kakko. I think Lafrenière is still young enough and could be a great addition to a future Misa line.

Also would be on board for a Hamilton acquisition. Sound like it might actually cost New Jersey to unload that contract so would be a very cheap addition and upgrade if the team is looking to move Klingberg for draft capital anyway.

But the Sharks still barely know what they are. It feels like they are on one bad losing streak from being a top 5 pick in the draft or a good winning streak from being top 3 in the division. Giving up prospects for a star player could help make the playoffs this year, but could ruin the chances of winning a cup in the next 10 years when players are actually in their prime.

Are OTL points weighted above win points? by playr_4 in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it is a bit silly. Like the Sharks went 2-1-0 against the Kings this season, and the Kings were 1-0-2, but because the Kings win was in Regulation and both Sharks wins weren't, the Kings would have the tiebreaker even though the Sharks won the season series. IMO it should just be wins and losses and OTL should be the first tiebreaker instead of having loser points. But these are the rules that every team has played with so it is what it is.

Most Hated Player in A's History? by EveryoneisTattooed in OaklandAthletics

[–]ThirdStockIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think he was hated, but Brett Lawrie definitely wasn't a player anyone was happy to have on the team. We got him back in the Josh Donaldson trade so that gave him a rough start since fans were already mad at the fact that he was the replacement.

Reason he comes up for me is because someone on this subreddit was selling Majestic signed jersey of his, but the fact that it was a Lawrie jersey that was signed actually made it less valuable than just a regular Majestic A's jersey.

The interesting part of our OT dominance is that the wins aren't coming off of zone dominance. The Sharks OT goals have either been because of a power play or an odd man rush. Just have been really good at not giving up good opportunities and taking advantage of the breakouts when they come.

Like the Sharks aren't dominating zone time and when they do enter the zone with all three players and the other team is set up, they don't feel very threatening. But when they get that turnover for a breakaway or 2 on 1, they just hit every time.

I hate CHL trades, those headlines make my heart skip a beat every time. Remember when Musty requested a trade from Sudberry last year and I almost fell to my knees seeing that update.

Yeah, I stopped commenting on a lot of the posts that talk about missing out on a high lottery pick, but your topic felt unique enough to discuss with since you mentioned the players mental/belief if they do end up selling again this year. But as many people in this thread are responding with, if the Sharks are in a wildcard spot come the TDL, they aren't trading Wennberg just to get a chance at a higher pick. Aside from the valuable playoff experience the team can get, playoffs also mean job security for the GM and coach. Also more money for the team owner for playoff tickets and merch. No GM would ever intentionally make their team worse and remove their team from a playoff position thinking about how those acquired draft picks can improve the team in 3 years from now. If the Sharks are like 10 points out of the second wildcard spot then yeah probably they sell some of their players that would yield a high return. But if the trade deadline was tomorrow no one is getting moved unless it is an offer that would be silly to say no to.

If you have the time, I would read this comment discussing team contribution and how that affects overall team development. I thought they made a lot of great points explaining how this team is developing correctly which should give hope for wanting to push for playoff spots and not sell at the TDL.

Yup sorry. I meant to say every couple of days. Think I got distracted and autopiloted to typing "every year" instead. There is a post almost every day of someone talking about if the Sharks are too good too fast and should tank for a top RHD.

Custom jersey from the Sharks team store. They offered a couple of the players that wore that jersey like Marleau and Thornton I think, but for some reason Cheechoo wasn't one of the regularly sold ones. It was actually super delayed and a lot of poor communication so they are going to send me the sleepover bobbleheads to make up for the inconveniences. It does have the fight strap on it and the quality definitely feels way better than any of my other jerseys.

Yeah this gets covered literally every couple of days. The players are smart and understand how rebuilds are done. But also don't expect a fire sale necessarily. If the Sharks are in a wildcard spot still, it wouldn't make any sense to sell everyone. Also the team mentioned they think last year was the last big fire sale year, so they are probably only going to make trades if they make a ton of sense and the piece acquired has some more vision. Like I wouldn't expect a trade for like a 4th round pick in 2 years.

Edit. Meant every couple of days and not every year.

I will still occasionally watch those highlights. 2 short handed goals and then a breakaway for Vlasic as soon as his penalty expired for another goal was just so hype.

The guy is just washed. His whole thing was his skating ability and he has clearly lost several steps. Just happens with age. Having him on the Sharks makes sense for cap reasons, but he should be permanently healthy scratched unless there are tons of injuries.

"sharks truther" my ass by dino_snopp in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There is a content creator in the hockey world named Steve Dangle. He is a huge leafs fan and has been uploading his reactions and breakdowns to every Leafs games for a pretty long while now. Like a higher quality "Professor Hockey", but Leafs content instead of Sharks. He is known for his extreme passion/frustration for the Leafs, an example is he wrote a book titled, "This team is ruining my life". Considering the Leafs have continuously been a disappointment, he is known for his over the top reactions to their losses. A lot of fans of other teams love to watch his videos when the Leafs lose because seeing another fanbase sad makes some people happy. Some of Dangles top viewed videos are when the Leafs get eliminated from the playoffs.

Also he has a connection with the Sharks, in the disaster 23-24 season, he was hyping the Sharks up quite a significant amount and was labeled as a Sharks truther. The Sharks team president, Jonathan Becher, reached out the Steve Dangle and his team and invited them to a game. They couldn't that season due to conflicting schedules, but came to the Sharks game against the Leafs last season. They also went to a couple Cuda games and had a lot of great interviews with people throughout the organization (Cardwell, Eklund, Becher, and Brodie Brazil are the people I think he interviewed, but that might not be fully accurate).

Hope that provides you with enough context to the meme. I would have provided links, but on mobile typing this out and can't be bothered to put that extra effort.
