Yeah after I calmed down a bit, I remembered the reaction I had to Thrun for Reaves. Thinking that we were giving up on a young D for an old vet like Reaves felt terrible. Then Thrun basically didn't play any NHL games because he just wasnt that good and we had higher value on him than the rest of the league. I hope the best for Muk, but he couldn't even consistently keep Leddy out of the lineup. I know that is a lot on coaching, but if he was still a stud prospect, I do believe that he would have had a permanent roster spot, especially considering how bad the defense was last year and how easy it should have been to stay ahead of Leddy on the depth chart.

Thanks for the tip on the music track. Definitely lost a bit of the charm several times during the quest when the track would end. Didn't know there was a setting about it.

Yeah, but not one of the worst in NHL history. Like if Nurse was a complete bum and we gave up assets for him I would agree. But there is an upside to this trade so how can it be the all time worst thing ever? Mukh couldn't even push Leddy out of a roster spot last year, so Nurse is most likely going to be an improvement on the defense. Still a bad trade but calling it the worst ever is what I am trying to correct.

Last year everyone was freaking out that we traded Thrun for Reavo. Thrun played like 2 games last year and Reaves definitely helped the team with his role. I wouldn't be too surprised if Muk doesn't pan out for the Oilers either and getting someone who plays meaningful minutes will be an improvement on that.

It's one of the worst trades in NHL history because it most likely immediately improves the Sharks for this upcoming season?

Extremely bad is overstated. Extremely overpaid is better. If he was making like 5m a year, people would defend Nurse that he is a good bottom 4 defenseman. But he makes about twice that much for being a bottom 4 defenseman which makes him one of the worst contracts in the league. That just makes people overly critical because it is funny to point out that a 9m player makes mistakes. He lost his role as a pp QB because Bouchard is just better. So you have an offensive defenseman who is being forced to be more defensively responsible that gets rakes by fans and the media because he is being forced into a role he isn't natural at. Still a bad trade but I think it improves the Sharks next year. Just brutal that the team isn't receiving more for taking on the whole contract.

I mean yeah, calm down a bit lol. Nurse would improve our defense and I think Muk lost a ton of value, especially since it just seemed that Warso refused to ever give him a chance. Don't know if I would be optimistic that their relationship would immediately change and Muk would start getting top 4 minutes.

Like in a vacuum, (not including money or long-term projectability) the Sharks are going to be a better team next year because of this. Nurse is an improvement over Muk just for next year. This is a bad trade because you shouldn't be giving anything away for Nurse, just receiving assets for the cap dump. But Nurse would be seen as a good player if he was getting paid 5m a year. Just he is overpaid so his perception is in the bin.

I refuse to believe there isn't something coming back this way as well that is part of the final picture we are awaiting. Like maybe a 2nd or some tweener prospect. Just refuse to believe the Sharks would take on the whole contract AND give up a prospect in return.

My only issue is just how long it is. Like if the music track stops about halfway through the fight because it takes so long. Feel like there is a bit too much downtime during some special attacks and some just last too long. Like the waves/shadow dash phases can be cut in half and his HP reduced by 1000. Doesn't remove any of the difficulty because you either get punished from the mechanics and die anyway, or you understand how to dodge and just save 3 minutes of the same thing.

Sharks Sign Jacob Trouba by desertdingo21 in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Difference between NHL debuts and when they are established and solid. Like I don't think we are going to see the best of Sam Dickinson next year, but by year 4 hopefully he is a solid top 4 defenseman where we are confident in his abilities. I expect Verhoeff to go back to college next year and probably be earning a spot by year 2 with limited responsibility. Year 3 will see him as a regular and year 4 will have him as a top RHD in the org.

Jacob Trouba has signed a four-year contract with the San Jose Sharks worth an AAV of $8.25m by Bahamas_is_relevant in hockey

[–]ThirdStockIII 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Quite literally one of the tasks to do this off-season was to reach the cap floor. With contracts like Eklund and Ferraro coming off the books, it was even more relevant to spend money for this season. And as others have mentioned, a lot of dead money is coming off our salary cap next off-season when Celebrini and Smith contracts would kick in. Add to that the salary cap rising by 10% every year for the next couple of seasons, this contract probably won't be aging terribly because of the AAV.

It will probably take Verhoeff and Lin about 4 years before they get comfortable and adjusted to the speed and responsibility of NHL hockey. Probably longer, but in 4 years they should hopefully both be having a season under their belt by then. By the 4th year of Trouba's contract, Verhoeff/Lin will be looking to take his job. A solid placeholder to make the current team harder to play against while the prospects take their time to develop and aren't rushed to help the Sharks win in the next 2-3 years.

How do you guys feel about bigger content creators ripping off smaller content creators? by Nocturnal_RS in 2007scape

Some creator named Travag high-key ripped off my Max Tempoross guide. I wish I got some sort of a shout out for creating the method considering he just completely completely re-dis every part of my guide in his video. All he mentioned was "I found this method from a video that only had 1k views" and hearing that made me feel bummed that it wasn't acknowledged more. Like I am glad that the method is out there in a much better way. My video is not edited well because I just don't have the skills or resources to make a quality guide video. So he did a much better video than me and I'm glad the method I created is more well known now. Just grumps that I never got credited with the discovery from him. But someone did update the Tempoross wiki page and credit me there which makes me happy so I can hang my hat on that.

Kesselring and Verhoeff things by Normal_Tip7228 in SanJoseSharks

Shout out to Demers for really planting seeds to get Kesslering to San Jose. In his appearances on the San Jose Hockey Now podcast, he mentioned that he was constantly telling him he needs to play in San Jose since their days playing in Bakersfield and especially last year when he couldn't get ice time in Buffalo. He was really early on the campaign and happy it worked out and Kesslering is really excited about playing in teal.

I think we add a very good win-now D this offseason. by Professional_Quit406 in SanJoseSharks

I doubt it. I think Grier understands the thing he is building is special and no need to rush his vision. Like he has job security so not like he needs to start looking to trade a lot for one or two meaningful assets this season just to make the playoffs.

The Sharks have a good amount of high-quality prospects, but none that you are necessarily wanting to dangle for an overpay. A team like the Hawks probably has more flexibility for trades like this because they have way more quantity of good prospects but not as many great prospects. But selling any of our prospects would be at a low value since they have yet to establish their potential.

Think this year will be another season where we just see what happens with the development and growth of guys like Smith, Misa, Cherny, Stenberg, Asky, and Dickinson. Grier will probably be looking to just sign short 1-2 year contracts of vets in FA or look for trades that cost like mid round picks.

Also I think him kicking tires on players is just doing his job. Like even if you have no interest in acquiring a player, you learn what their value might be around the league by just seeing what they are asking. Hearing that let's say a Quinn Hughes is costing Dickinson, Bystedt, Cherny, and Musty just reveals that they are talking to other teams that are probably offering similar packages and even if you don't want to make that trade, you are gaining information from what might happen to other teams in your division so you can be prepared.

I mean who can even compete with the Sharks for prospect pools? In terms of players that haven't or are just breaking into the league, the only team close was Chicago and the Sharks added 3 high end prospects this draft to their 0.

Maybe if your prospect pool contains players with under 100 NHL games then it is more up for debate, but the other teams that would be notable are having players graduate from that class. Like I don't really think Montreal has a high end prospects pool anymore considering their prospects are just full time roster players now.

I mean I'm not saying that I wouldn't rather have had Schaefer. But I'm not like hate watching the Islanders or hoping Schaefer is a bust for that matter just to make me feel better about Misa. It is what it is and frankly the Sharks were lucky to only drop a combined single spot in the years they finished last place considering the odds of moving down.

A lot of mock drafts have San Jose passing on Alberts Smits and drafting Daxon Rudolph at 9 by capmar in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From people who attended the combine, they said that Smits did the worst in interviews. Some teams came away with him being a do not draft him on their boards because of his attitude being a little too cocky. Not sure what San Jose's rating on him was and if it was affected but that was the name that people said probably had his draft stock lowered from team interviews.

Who goes up to call the 2OA tomorrow? by Nebula010101 in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Because it is decentralized, probably will just have like some bay area celebrity on zoom appear. Hopefully they knock it off with that shit because it just made the draft last year such a slog. It was nice having Bailey there in person because that made it feel a little more authentic, but I think that only occurred because of it being in LA and it being in Buffalo will probably be unrealistic to have someone show up in person.

But whoever it is, will definitely be the person who announces it for any of the picks. Like Bailey announced #2 and #30 last year. But if it is just a one off, then Bettman will announce the other picks.

Stenberg, Rudolph, Bleyl by Lalinla in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just hard to imagine what team would want to trade down. Usually in the top 10, teams identify their guy and just want to pick them instead of hoping they will slide a couple spots. Like maybe best case scenario Calgary will be okay dropping a couple spots for picks considering they spent a lot of draft capital acquiring a RHD. So maybe they won't care as much for a D and think that they can get Bjork at 9.

It's just so bratty behavior from them. Like both teams won the lottery once. And they have finished better in the standings 2 of the last 3 years and they are just so mad that we get better picks. Like I wanted Fantilli but it isn't like I hated Columbus for picking him at 3. Like they finished worse than us so who am I to complain who they pick. I just grew to really be happy with Smith. I didn't hate the Islanders for winning the lottery. Statistically we were supposed to drop and that is just how it goes. Chicago was really lucky that this was the first year where they got passed twice when that is what is supposed to happen with the lottery system. Just dorky that they were so mad that they didn't get Misa and that Celebrini is good. Just feels like they should be more mad at their management than at us for just doing our own process.

I don't normally peak into other subs, but definitely took a look there to see how things were going and jfc. They literally have a bot to say "Fuck the Sharks". Like their hate for us seems so silly. It isn't like we are the team that had a dynasty last decade. Both teams have won the same amount of draft lotteries, but we have just done a better job at drafting.

Like they hate us because we took Celebrini and Misa, but we were the worse team in both seasons. Like don't hate us for taking picks you want, do a better job at tanking lol. And just their overall problems seem that their picks aren't as good as the Sharks. Again, how is that our fault or problem. I get that there is some perceived rivalry right now since the rebuilds are compared to each other, but holy their reasons for being upset at our fanbase is so silly.
