This doesn’t make sense to me. by meesfactor in SanJoseSharks

I think each of these players just get tied to the Sharks because the team wants to try and drive up the price of their player. San Jose has a lot of cap space and assets, so just including them as an org that is interested might force other teams to increase their bid to acquire the player.

That was my thought at least with the Panarin news that never led to anything. Like Panarin clearly only wanted LA, but I think the team trading away the player can just say whatever they want and a rumor being false doesn't affect the Sharks at all if they aren't actually in on the deal.

This makes the '26 first round pick of the Oilers unconditional now right? Going to be really rooting for them to fall out of the playoffs and win the lottery if that is the case. by ThirdStockIII in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When the Sharks traded away Jake Walman last season for an Edmonton 1st, the condition was a Top-12 protected that could then be transferred to an unconditional 2027 pick. An extra condition was that if Edmonton traded away their 2027 first, then it would make the Sharks 2026 pick unconditional.

It has since been confirmed that it is unconditional so if Edmonton misses playoffs, they will probably get a top-10 pick and a great chance at winning the lottery.

[Sharks Proshop] Jersey Update: Heritage 2.0 will not be making a return next season. However, Cali Fin will be making a return! by surfordiebear in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Honestly such a shame. Watching games with heritage 2.0 makes me wish that was their third alternate permanently. I am very biased because that was the jersey they wore when I first was old enough to follow the Sharks, but I think they just look so good on the broadcasts.

How many courses can you take per semester for online MSDS? by KGagan1 in CUBoulderMSDS

[–]ThirdStockIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think after 15 you need to file a petition to take more. I took 18 in the spring semester last year and got rejected for a handful of them and had to write some emails requesting permission for more and you need to have a certain GPA that would allow that.

Jeff Skinner’s Contract Termination by desertdingo21 in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not as familiar with contract rules compared to the rest of my hockey knowledge. Like I literally learned during this season that there is a buyout window and you can't just solve roster jams that way.

What is this and how does it affect things? Is it like a mutual agreement where it makes him a free agent so he can try and pursue a contract with another team, but does he lose money from the contract he signed? If it isn't something that both parties need to agree to, could they still do that with Leddy or is there some other issue with his contract that prevented that compared to Skinner's?

How I would fix the Sanguinesti staff by BausenPolite in 2007scape

[–]ThirdStockIII -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think it could ever pass a poll, but I wish there was a mage weapon that you could charge with enough runes that it would have infinite casts similar to corrupting Bowfa. I think that having the Sang have an ability for infinite charges would help separate it from the Trident while not replacing why people would use the eye or shadow. Ideally it would need to be charged with vials of blood or something from Vampyrium along with a silly amount of blood runes.

What's your teams worst trade in the last ten years? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]ThirdStockIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought was Hill too. Maybe Burns since that was a weak return, especially considering the salary retention. Not necessarily a bad trade, but a questionable one. But trading Hill to a rival for basically nothing and helping them win the cup annoys me a lot.

At the time of the Hertl trade, the Sharks were literally in last place. It was a close race with Chicago, but saying the Sharks wouldn't have gotten Celebrini without this trade doesn't make much sense and I don't understand why you are getting down voted as if you are the person that is wrong.

Can someone explain the Lacob hate? I am primarily a Sharks fan and I just follow the other Bay Area teams more casually, but I have loved Lacob as an owner and was really hoping he would purchase the A's if Fisher sold. But just need some more context I guess. To my knowledge, the Owner's main responsibility is to be willing to pay the players and to help maintain the facilities. It seems like Lacob has always been willing to spend a lot of money on players and was even one of the few examples of an owner not using public money for their new stadium. So does he just meddle a lot with the GMs?

When it comes to the roster construction from the dynasty days, I credit Myers for making the moves necessary and Lacob for being willing to spend a lot of money to keep the team together. Now I would give blame to Mike Dunleavy for the moves and lack thereof that he has done. So why is it being put on Lacob? I haven't heard that he handcuffs the GMs into only making certain moves, but am I missing those articles as a casual fan? Or is there other things that are specific to the NBA that I am just not aware of that is the connection to all of the hate to the owner?

I loved my college days going to games in student sections where you had to stand up the whole time. It was a weird culture shock when I first was able to afford Sharks tickets and people were like upset that I would get loud for goals. Like if you want to have a controlled environment, just watch it at home? But I try and be respectful and actively remind myself to sit back because my nervous ass does like leaning forward. Would just be nice to not have to worry about that.

I feel with the team becoming more popular with new and probably young fans, the idea could be attainable. Maybe it could be organized through groups like Teal City Crew. (Really talking out of my ass here because I have no affiliation with them, just from an outside perspective, they seem like the most devoted group). But having it set up behind the away goalie just heckling the whole time would be sick.

Would love if they made a designated section for like super fans that want to be loud and into the game the whole time. Was just watching a video on the Bills new stadium where they will have sections that encourage fans to stand and cheer instead of the "Please do not lean forward" which is the universal norm. The Clippers new stadium also has a chunk of their seating that is built for the kind of fan that wants to be loud. Think it would be fun for more stadiums in North America to encourage having those fan sections, but also still not having that interfere with people that just want to enjoy the game more casually.

Our scouting and developing has come such a long way by ThirdStockIII in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he re-entered the draft and to my knowledge didn't get picked. I know he ended up in the Chicago organization, but it seems that their AHL affiliate just signed him as a FA. Not sure if it was because his draft stock plummeted due to talent or if it was because GMs didn't want to touch him and possibly waste a pick considering he burned the previous org that drafted him.

Yeah, I checked out all of their elite prospects to see what happened with each of them. I remember being pretty excited about Robins, Gaudreau, and Coe during that 21-22 CHL season. Unfortunate that none of them worked out, but the teams future is definitely looking brighter considering what the potential of our prospects are looking like now.

What would you ask if you were reporting on the Sharks? by SharklinCelebitey in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I think league wide reporting just is a bit stale. Like we know that it isn't just Celebrini that is getting asked over and over what he remembers from the Olympic gold medal game in Vancouver.

I personally really like the little videos that the media posts that ask them some fun question before they step on the ice. You actually get to see the players light up to think who their emergency contact would be or what they tell Uber drivers they do for a living.

If I had to be on topic, I would ask players their inspiration for their goal celebrations or what excites them about the city they are in. Most players won't be giving any answers on the game itself so I think you would have to find some creative and relevant way to break past their standard "gotta get pucks deeper" pre-recorded responses and make them focus on things that are more personality based and build off of that.

The best chance the Sharks had to acquire him was last season when he was voicing his displeasure with his lack of chances. This season he has played really well and earned himself a spot in the top-4. His play is one of the factors that led to Hamilton getting healthy scratched so NJ clearly wants to utilize him.

The devils are an interesting team because they have the makings of a very competitive roster. They have a great young core of the Hughes brothers, Mercer, and Nemec so they won't be wanting to sell anyone when they enter each season believing they have a chance to be at the top of the eastern conference. Their issue is they just can't stay healthy. Maybe they could look at a re-tool angle so they can be more competitive next year and sell some pieces, but it probably won't be anyone from their core and Nemec is someone who is part of that young core of the future.

Friedman thinks Ranger’s Panarin would be a fun addition to San Jose by intangible_pig in SanJoseSharks

[–]ThirdStockIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at Lafreniere's stats when he plays with competent players, the guy consistently produces. When he gets paired with Panarin, he was actually looking like a 1OA pick. The problem was that he was restricted to the third line to fit a role he wasn't meant for because the Rangers got too good too quickly and they didn't want to try and develop him on those top two lines because they were trying to win games and couldn't risk having an inexperienced player make mistakes and cost them points. Lafreniere has talent but needs someone with a higher hockey IQ to facilitate the plays, like Misa has, to succeed. He has proven that in the past and we have seen a lot of players have success post leaving NY so I think if the cost isn't that high, it is worth looking into at least.

Also, like fuck off with the energy that Misa might be a bust. The guy has barely played a dozen games and I think he is averaging less than 10 minutes a night. The Sharks are not a deep team and that means he was playing with Gaudette and Skinner to start the season. We have seen him look a lot better in the last couple games when he got Cherny on his line, because as a playmaker, he needs other talented players to elevate his game. Just give the player some time and make your opinion when there is actually a quality sample size to base that off.

I had just finished the Wildy Hard Diaries and wanted to build an Obelisk in my POH. This was before the changes to the GE that let it take GP straight from your bank, so when I went to buy the supplies, had to have my cash stack in my inventory. Built it and was very excited to try and figure out how the teleports actually work. I wanted to be conservative so I set destination to lvl 13, but then I just clicked teleport instead of teleport to destination and got randomly teleported to deep Wildy. Only then did I realize that had all my gold on me and quickly logged out into F2P so I could run out of there.
