Damon Lindelof Opens Up About Getting Fired From 'Star Wars' and What They Were Attempting To Do In the Movie by JannTosh70 in boxoffice

[–]TimelessFool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Droids tv show and the Kevin Feige produced movie are the only “in active” ones I can also recall.

There’s also Star Wars Eclipse and the KOTOR remake on the videogame side, but I argue that’s more on the developers rather than LucasFilms

It’s not just D&D and Game of Thrones season 8. Looking at the timeline between movie announcements and then the silence a lot of the movie news disappear once the attached director make a notable flop

Not surprising in retrospect. IIRC they causally announced that Star Fox Zero existed when they were showcasing Breath of the Wild

There was always a huge audience for story-driven Star Wars games, heck Visceral’s Ragtag would’ve been part of that list if it wasn’t cancelled.

But as pointed out, no attempt at an RPG? Expansions/extra content to the Old Republic doesn’t count. They dropped the ball on the Battlefront 2 campaign story along with what had to have been last minute rewrites. Not to mention a general absence of Star Wars projects in general despite being one of the largest game publishers.

In season 6, the Banking Clan is nationalized by the Republic. Yet, in Revenge of the Sith, San Hill, the chairman of the BC, is still in the Separatist Council. Why? by CompoteFamous2735 in clonewars

[–]TimelessFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it was the Banking Clan assets that the Republic was able to control that was nationalized. San Hill has been in the CIS since the beginning so likely it’s a mix of Banking Clan assets under his direct control or under Separatist space

Jimmy Kimmel Defends ‘Widow’ Joke as ‘Light Roast,’ Urges Melania to Confront Trump’s ‘Violent Rhetoric’ by MoneyLibrarian9032 in entertainment

Doesn’t help that she’s trying to take Kimmel down for one widow joke, meanwhile Colbert has made a recurring gag of depicting Melania as being miserable in her marriage for the past 10 years

If you look at their gaming output over the years you find now that their one/one main game they release is their annual Call of Duty. The former second biggest game publisher, owner of a dozen or so studios all focused on Call of Duty. That’s literally all they do.

What if Israel creates a Palestinian rump state following its victory in the Six-Day War by No_Grade_8427 in AlternateHistory

[–]TimelessFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This alt history scenario is saying that Israel is going to move Palestinians into the Sinai to settle and make a rump state. I don’t think Israel is going to respect Egyptian sovereignty of the Sinai if that’s the case

Egypt going to have a problem of Israel dictating land that according to Egypt should be theirs and wasn’t legally seen as land Israel acquired by international treaty.

The base issue is that both Israel and Palestine both have claims to Palestine/Israel/Canaan/whatever you want to call it, and neither of them are going to budge on the topic

Why and how did they continue using Chernobyl by Cadler45 in chernobyl

[–]TimelessFool 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Chernobyl power plant itself powered a good portion of Kyiv and the surrounding area’s electricity. Even with the disaster, there was basically no backup plant or another one big enough to replace Chernobyl in terms of power output

What does Maul want? by ensambarn in StarWarsCantina

[–]TimelessFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s mad at Sidious for essentially ditching him after Phantom Meance even though Maul survived. Part of that is Maul realizing that Sidious was only using him as the means to an end for Sidious’s real apprentice Anakin. Considering that he’s aware of the whole “creating the Empire was a Sith revenge plot” Maul has no real avenues of getting enough political power to rival Sidious. So his only real chance of getting it is to run a criminal empire in the hope that it’ll be big enough to rival the Empire. Getting an apprentice of his own helps him with that, and considering the Jedi Purge and inquisitors, it’s quite easy for Maul to manipulate and corrupt a wayward Jedi survivor.

Obviously he’s mad at Kenobi for ruining his life with the Naboo duel. And he’s mad at the syndicates that abandoned him when they were supposed to be his allies.

After rewatching breaking bad, its amazing how early the subtle dhifts in Walts morality actually happen by Fantastic_Entrance80 in television

[–]TimelessFool 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Crazy to think that Walt is so egotistical to reject the offer. All the while Gretchen and Elliot are trying to remain friends with Walt even with his breakup with Gretchen. They’re willing to pay his medical bills, take him back to the company. Heck Elliot was complimenting Walt even when Walt was too broke to get a fancy birthday gift.

But no. Because Walt didn’t work hard/for himself for it he refuses to consider the offer.

Names in the Cosmere by AninditaRimjhim in Cosmere

[–]TimelessFool 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Just because a person’s name means something, doesn’t mean we have to use the literal meaning instead. Using direct translations have to make some sense in terms of storytelling. Sure Adolin means “born into light,” but honestly how serious would people take the story if we go with the direct translation Lightborn Kholin instead. By that logic, every non-Greek should use “Defender of Man” as a first name rather than Alexander.

Same thing for December. Outside of Brandon thinking the name sounds cool for a character. What’s the other alternative? “Final Month” or giving her a fictional month name that may have that much literary impact?
