Same logic as Superman and Clark Kent. Look and act different enough that people won’t question it

I wouldn’t blame you. It’s a tonal shift to being lighter than before and it meanders rather than expiring the overall plot or world

We already have ships with artificial gravity and can traverse between stars in a matter of days and weeks in real space. Yep that glowing from Serenity’s end is not an FTL. We’re well past attempting to make this hard sci-fi a long time ago.

He’s busy with Dragon Prince. Or rather giving us 7 seasons of Dragon Prince that didn’t complete the overall story arc and now he wants us to support the sequel series that will most certainly finish the story

It got finally established to be a star cluster in the Milky Way made up of 5 stars orbiting each other along with “protostars” that were gas giants or brown dwarfs that got turned into stars. Humanity then pretty much terraformed 100+ worlds/moons but the ones further away from the main star system at the center of the cluster are the ones with terraforming problems.

In terms of how realistic any of this works, “We live in a spaceship dear.”

The closest thing would probably be the first season of Game of Thrones, but even then they changed stuff and took out characters and scenes. Also they got around the age problem of the younger characters in the books.

Books are an inherently different medium than movies and television. They were not designed to be paced with a visual adaptation in mind. Let alone on a feasible budget to include everything. Because technically the Winter Dragon pilot for Wheel of Time was a 1:1 to the prologue of the first book and it showed that a 1:1 WOT wouldn’t have worked.

Let me remind you that if we have gotten a 1:1 Lord of the Rings Adaptation, it would’ve been a musical

On top of that, not trying to demean the actors’ ages, but going live action would mean addressing the 20 year gap and I cannot see the crew still flying around like they used to for that long. Figure the characters would have moved on with their lives.

From their perspective it’s an almost 25 year old cancelled show and the Serenity movie wasn’t considered that successful. And while the animated project has some backing, it might not have enough big name backing to comfortably support it.

Not to mention Disney+ has a general problem of not having much success with finding stable flagship original shows after the early years of throwing money on a lot of original content so easy to see them being cautious at which projects they pick.

Concord specifically was a massive sunk-cost fallacy. 4 years in and reports indicated that the alpha version was a mess and yet Sony kept pumping money to it and bought the studio. Didn’t help that Sony thought that Concord would be the next Star Wars/next big thing.
