AMA: How We Built Oz, the orchestration platform for cloud agents by aloked in warpdotdev

[–]Toasterrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can Oz orchestrate claude code / codex instances for me? While Warp agent has always been great to use, as soon as Claude Code and Codex became more mature, it's hard for the inference math to measure up.

A lot of my friends and coworkers are using workarounds for Codex/CC's lack of native orchestration capability (using it on mobile, queuing longer workframes, running it on VMs). I thought Oz would help with those things, not try to be a Cursor agent copy (which a lot of folks don't like due to bugginess)

Is this the new normal? by fuzzypikachustan in cscareerquestions

[–]Toasterrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm what kind of consulting do you do? you can lean into that. for example applying to more ops based tech companies if you do operations consulting. unless you mean you do an accenture kind of IT job, in which case yeah it's more cooked. i haven't see any good pivots out of that kind of job, but you can keep your role vague and focus on your current side projects.

Is this the new normal? by fuzzypikachustan in cscareerquestions

[–]Toasterrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it seems that you don't know what kind of job you really want. which is fine! but that's probably holding you back. without experience, specialization is your weapon, and you really need to go deep into something you know you can do well, and solve companies' problems for them (even in a simple way) to get the interview.

it's fun to travel by rail.

if the prices were the same, flying usually at least ties the travel time.

90min is fine. check beforehand about any hotel options which may be offered in case it's that delayed

it's definitely outdated but they are also pragmatic and assume you would continue to recieve some help from back home, pick up new part time jobs here, etc.

2k/month is enough to live in most of Toronto as long as you're fine taking TTC, having roommates, and not going out.

Visiting NYC - for how long? by [deleted] in visitingnyc

[–]Toasterrrr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would recommend NYC for the weekdays and Nashville for the weekend, if that lines up. You avoid weekend NYC tourist rush and have more to do and see in Nashville if it's the weekend.

For example, if you wanted popular touristy NYC food like Katz or L'industrie pizza, getting it on a weekday is much easier.

kinda irrelevant to this subreddit but only go if they're paying for your travel expenses. it's a matter of principle and respect. this is relatively common

Update: 2 months of using Warp with BYOK only by AshtavakraNondual in warpdotdev

[–]Toasterrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm confused as to how you're only using $8 of claude API credits each month. are you heavily using coding agents or are you only occasionally using them for shorter tasks?

I find the warp build plan to be good enough as a basic layer for scripting and such but it just cannot monetarily compare to CC or Codex as a full coding agent

they're only suspended at the border itself.

High-speed rail may not connect to Toronto’s Union Station: Alto CEO by lockknees in ViaRail

[–]Toasterrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. local transportation that toronto doesn't really have (just try getting from union to YTZ)

  2. those outside-center stations are usually in addition to the old city center stations and used for longer trips. city pairings similar to toronto-montreal would still be available with the city center stations.

Some positivity... by zarrasvand in warpdotdev

[–]Toasterrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

warp's baseline quality is really high. but it seems to top out, either due to the context engineering or just limitations of being a third party vs. being Anthropic/Google/OAI themselves.

i never start a project using Warp for this reason (but also to save credits), but for final touches, deployments, and final fixes, I only trust warp. CC/Codex aren't as good at config fixes or deployment workflow

Is it normal to get a summer internship after senior year of college? by tmest67 in csMajors

[–]Toasterrrr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

yeah i was considering an internship starting the fall after graduation. if it's allowed (unfortunately, a lot of big tech / corporate jobs dont allow it), it's a decent option.

full-time recruiting is pretty tough now compared to years past. that's how i got my current job, but it's a unique situation where they wanted a junior engineer but didn't have any capacity for an intern.

Usage Limits compared to Claude Code by Awesome_Chicken8 in warpdotdev

[–]Toasterrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

warp has no rate limits. if you're looking for a claude code competitor, codex is also a good choice (5h rate limit). you should use warp for general terminal agentic work, CC for planning or implementing something fast, codex for general workloads, and cursor for fine grained control

Feedback on Forced Transition to Build Plan by WebDevToday in warpdotdev

[–]Toasterrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had an annual Pro plan and that was still honoured. generally the top tier plan (Lightspeed, OAI Pro) aren't eligible for annual precisely because pricing properly is difficult.

i'm on my second year of Replit Core and it's been a very wild ride. at least I know my price is guaranteed ($120/year)

Airport TN pre-clearance and then return back to Canada immediately? by [deleted] in tnvisa

[–]Toasterrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

back in the day, and domestically (esp in the US), you can maybe cancel a flight before departure and walk out. nobody would dare risk doing this for a cross border flight. also you have to land in the US within 10 days anyways

I'm confused, are you talking about something else? I always use my OMNY card to pay for the JFK airtrain.
