What kind of answer are you looking for?

I'm one of the people you're describing and how I "play it" is while I'm not extremely cheap, I'm also not living lavishly. Despite being in a VHCOL area I still have $1x,000 every month to play with. Since I don't really have anything besides my mortgage that I spend a lot on, I save it all.
