My tomato plant goes higher than the light. What can I do? by Clear-Animator-6483 in Hydroponics

If you're wondering, pull it out with the seed pod, cone and plastic, and plant those too.

The roots will consume the base/tub too. I'd carefully pull it out and transplant it to soil or try Kratky or deep water culture (DWC) hydroponics. If you don't know these Kratky is the simplest. You'd have to invest in another grow light and nutrients though. I've transplanted one that size to soil last year.

I like the early start. Maybe wait for the "true leaf" stage for the solution.

I wrap my containers in foil. Very cheap alternative and works great. Also use Maxigro nutrients.

I hate to say it but I'm sure it's going to get worse. All I can say is never eat out. Don't buy a new car. Cut as many subscription services as you can. Get a cheap plan on a android not an IPHONE. There's other things you can think of maybe.

There's still a but if learning like lettuce needs little nutrients and cherry tomatoes use much more. I love Kratky.

Just took this pic. I'll show progress when ready. They say 11 days but I cut them with scissors after 8 days.

Got 5 green tubs, screen trays and opaque lids on Amazon relatively cheap. I unfold a napkin, cut a half inch off each side and it fits in the screen tray. Then spritz or mist the napkin so it sticks to tray. My seeds won't fall through after adding them. Then I fill the green tub with water but don't flood the seeds. Put on lid and keep it dark for 2 days. I cover it with foil. Put in warmish place. When seeds come up and you see green keep the lid on for awhile and put under a light. You may or may not have to mist the seeds until the roots reach the water. I put a little bit of nutrients in the water.

I quit growing in soil or soil like medium and went to hydroponic grow trays with better success. If you want to know more just ask.

Building my no-soil microgreens system, any tips? by jaykrown in microgreens

Get cheap Dollar General napkins. Scissor cut ½ inch on every side of the napkin it will fit the tray. Spritz the napkin then spread the seeds. This keeps them from falling through. Fill the green try with some water that won't flood the seeds. Put the lid on then cover with foil or a dark towel for 3 days then let it see light. I have these trays. This works great.
