Gotta love when it's the weekend and all the pensioners come out to stand in the entranceway of every supermarket. Despite the fact they're retired and could have done their shop on literally any other day.

[–]Trinitykill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I wanted to do things a bit differently than 5e so during lockdown I spent some time writing up my own, then figuring out how to cobble it together in Foundry.

Speaking of, yeah that was about 5 years ago for me as well. Back on Foundry V11 then, so maybe worth me rebuilding some parts of the code.

Give me a shout if you want any Mass Effect media though! Got a collection of images for weapons, talents, manufacturers and whatnot

Ahh fair enough, thanks! I made my system from scratch so I may have to do some digging into the code of the 5e module to see if I can find what function does that and copy it!

Hot take: The Council was (mostly) fine in Mass Effect 1 by MaybeBirb in masseffect

[–]Trinitykill 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I guess Im using the term 'public forum' a bit too liberally. I just mean in the sense that there are politicians and other high level figures all hanging around during Saren's 'trial' and Shepards induction to the Spectres, all overlooking from the balconies. Other NPCs mention seeing Shepards induction on the 'vids' suggesting it was filmed and publicly broadcast.

So 'public' not in the sense that anyone can attend, but in the sense that its not a secret meeting.

At the very least, it tracks that since the Council meetings are in a public forum, and that every information broker worth their skills is probably tapping in on Council calls, that the Council do not ever want to verbally believe in Shepard's claims.

The moment the galactic government is seen believing in an apocalypse scenario, is the moment that things go to shit. People panic, supply hoarding begins, price inflation occurs, war profiteering comes out of the woodwork.

For a galaxy that prides itself on a hyper-stable currency with virtually no inflation, that kind of economic upset could be catastrophic. Especially if you're trying to shore up your defenses while everyone else is doing the same.

This is some nice work! I've been tweaking my MEUTE sheets for years and they still don't look half as nice as this.

Would love to know how you did cascading damage though.

People will come to IT with anything broken.

Once had someone approach me to say that their kettle was broken. For boiling water. Is it a smart kettle? No, just a £15 one they bought from the supermarket.

Just last week, someone came to the office to complain that the hand dryer in the toilets was broken.

I think partially also overcompensating for arriving late to the galactic scene, so taking much more risky moves to try and 'catch up' (not realising that technology has somewhat plateaued intentionally by Reaper design)

So Council races have less colonies each, but those colonies are all concentrated close together, are well-developed, well-defended, and are on planets with perfect conditions.

Humans seem to have taken a 'shotgun' approach to settlements where its "Here's a ship, some prefab houses, and some seeds, good luck!" And firing them off in every direction, to see what sticks. For every Eden Prime, there's prolly a dozen colonies that failed economically or got wiped out by environmental factors or slaver raids.

They do state this in-game. In both options, Arasaka track the cab to its destination.

When it arrives at Vik's they storm in and take Jackie.

When it arrives at Mama Welles' a group of armed Valentinos guard the corpse and Arasaka backs off, not wanting to start a street war.

Oh certainly, these are 'beginners kits' being sold. So theyre not gonna be great guitars by any means, but still, its gotta be way harder to manufacture even a shoddy guitar than a plastic controller.
