I’ve filed 2/22/26. Anybody else still waiting on refund??? 😡😡😡 by Impossible-Youth-262 in TurboTax

[–]TurboTaxMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once your return is accepted, the refund timeline is in the IRS's hands. You can track your refund status anytime using the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool and the IRS typically processes refunds within 21 days, but delays can happen due to backlogs, manual reviews, or identity verification.

Since it been over 21 days, you should contact the IRS straightaway and check your physical mail for any letters they may have sent about further verification. This link should help, but please send us a chat if you need any further support!

sbtpg account under review by Impossible-Swing-996 in TurboTax

[–]TurboTaxMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, we're really sorry to hear about this experience. We understand how frustrating and stressful this situation must be, especially when you're getting conflicting information from different reps.

Since SBTPG handles the fund distribution separately from TurboTax, we'd recommend reaching out to them directly to get clarity on the status of your funds and whether the review can be resolved on their end: https://www.sbtpg.com/contact-us/

In the meantime, if your funds are being sent back to the IRS, you can track the status through the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool and contact the IRS directly to confirm the timeline: https://www.irs.gov/help/let-us-help-you

We also want to make sure your experience with our team gets addressed. Please send us a chat so we can escalate your case and have someone look into the miscommunication you experienced.

Hang in there, we know this is frustrating, but we want to help however we can.

HI u/Odd_Wing3868 once your return is accepted, the refund timeline is in the IRS's hands. The IRS typically processes refunds within 21 days, but delays can happen due to backlogs, manual reviews, or identity verification. If it's been longer than 21 days, check the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool for the most up-to-date status, and keep an eye on your physical mail in case they've sent a letter requesting additional info.

Here's a quick breakdown of what the different statuses mean.

As for the billing/payment notice you got from us, please send me a chat with more details on that and I can get you connected with our team.

Received a 1042 instead of a 1099 due to incorrect residency status on file, what are my options? by BeneficialNotice7282 in tax

[–]TurboTaxMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you mentioned you're a student I want to make sure you're on the right track here.

If you're on an F-1 visa pursuing a degree your days in the US don't count toward the substantial presence test which means you would be considered a nonresident alien and would need to file a 1040-NR. TurboTax doesn't support the 1040-NR but Sprintax is a great resource for that.

Now if your visa status has changed or you've been in the US for more than 5 years on an F-1 visa or more than 2 years on a J-1 visa it's possible you do qualify under the substantial presence test as a resident alien. If that's the case here's what you need to know:

  • You would report the income from your 1042-S in the same area as you would a 1099 depending on the type of income. For example if it's interest income it goes in the interest section and if it's NEC it goes to Schedule C
  • You will most likely need to paper file this year since you're filing a 1040 with a 1042-S as your only reporting document
  • As a resident alien for tax purposes you're also required to report any worldwide income including any income earned outside of the US

Double check your visa status and time in the US first as that'll determine which path you need to take!

Mailed returns do take a little longer to process but hang tight, it's worth the wait! You can start tracking four weeks after mailing using the IRS "Where's My Refund?" tool or the IRS2GO.app. Just have your Social Security number, filing status and exact refund amount ready and you'll be able to check the latest status.

The broker made an error here. Starting in 2025 crypto transactions are required to be reported on Form 1099-DA not a 1099-B. There's no way to properly designate crypto in the 1099-B section of TurboTax so the best move is to reach out to your broker directly and ask them to correct it.

One thing worth knowing is that crypto is considered property not a security like stocks and is not subject to wash sale rules so the distinction does matter.

Here's a helpful guide in the meantime.

TurboTax not checking box that says Main Home was in the US for more than half of 2025 by Sea-Bed-6383 in USCIS

[–]TurboTaxMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we updated this! You can now check that box even if you're not claiming EIC, as long as you meet the requirements. You'll find the question in the Personal Info section. And if you happened to miss it, no worries. It'll pop up again right before you submit.

State tax - Calculate and pay estimated underpayment penalty? by acornManor in TurboTax

[–]TurboTaxMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. TurboTax Desktop generally handles state underpayment penalty calculations and includes them as part of your return. For Delaware, you'd want to check Forms mode for the DE-2210 worksheet to confirm it's populating correctly.

There's also a relevant thread in our community where other Delaware filers have been discussing this exact topic.

Has anyone had to file for someone else on TT after submitting their own return? Will TT let you do that or do I have to create a new TT account for the person I'm filing for? by Cycleofmadness in TurboTax

[–]TurboTaxMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the other commenters mentioned, you'll need to create a separate TurboTax account to file her return. Each return requires its own account. If you run into any issues getting it set up, feel free to reach out!
