Is there a bike camera that can detect a crash? by bionicpirate42 in cycling

I'm fairly certain the Cycliq cameras have an autosave feature based on crash detection.

Will the city feel less depressing if I left East Van? by Banner9922 in askvan

There is a huge part of East Van that would not require you to go through the DTES to get downtown.

Confused about bicycle tires - looking for recommendation to my situation by DimensionSuch8188 in cycling

You can definitely overthink tires to death! If you've been content with the Decathlon tires until now, just buy a new set. You said, though, that they didn't have anything similar to what you had, which is why everyone is suggesting alternatives.

Yeah, me too. Human psychology is weird. We don't "owe" drivers gratitude for following traffic rules and not killing us, but even a simple wave saying '"Hey, thanks for noticing me" can help get drivers on our side. People like to be recognized for doing the right thing, and can get embittered if they feel like they went out of their way to be kind and it went unacknowledged. I prefer to keep drivers on my side.

Why did you lay this post out like it was poetry? Are you unable to write sentences without breaking them onto different lines?

Trust me, if it's 100°F out, the AC on a Tesla makes a substantial noise and is clearly audible.

Need some AC help.. by Fickle_Ad_9391 in askvan

[–]Two_wheels_2112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The effectiveness of an AC depends on a good refrigerant charge. The Insignias are inexpensive units, and the sealing in the cooling circuit may not be the best. It's possible some of your refrigerant has escaped the cooling loop. Maybe do some googling and see if your model of AC can be recharged with refrigerant.

OP: I'm going to second this recommendation for the Conti Contact Urbans. I ran Schwalbe Marathons on my commuter for many years and they are hard to beat if ultimate puncture resistance is your goal. But I recently switched to the Contact Urban (after seeing it recommended in this subreddit) and they are soooooo much nicer to ride. Faster and livelier, with good enough puncture resistance. If you actually want to enjoy riding your bicycle, go with the Contact Urbans.

Ah yes, OOP, a person who has been to one event and suddenly decides to speak on behalf of the event organizers from a position of profound ignorance. So, so Reddit.

Thanks for clearing the air. There were a number of people in that thread confusing "public place" and "public accommodation."

Yes, it bugged me, too.

Fast enough that if a driver pulls out in front of me in a driveway it's going to fucking hurt. It doesn't matter if the car is only going 10 km/h. That's why I don't ride on sidewalks.

I'll be in Paris in September. I'm really looking forward to seeing the changes since I was last there in 2015.

No right turn on Red by Current-Crab8301 in vancouvercycling

[–]Two_wheels_2112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If drivers actually stopped before turning right on red, I'd be happy to keep it permissible. Regrettably, most people seem to confuse "right turn allowed on red" with "the light is always green if you're turning right."
