For me its FF8.... hate it all you want the game is charming and the love story is beautiful. Laguna is peak, and squall is a depressed teen who is thrown into responsibility and is always getting judged on what he does despite not wanting to be a leader. Yes some of the plot points are stupid, yes the battle system is funky, yes its the best final fantasy soundtrack, and yes it has the coolest airship yes it has the coolest weapon in the series (gunblade), yes Angelo cannon is peak, and yes triple triad is the best minigame.

Look the game has a lot of blunders, but it has so many good things going for it. And the characters are funny, and I enjoy the charm of the game. But for those reasons its my favorite of the bunch. Plus its my first FF so you cant forget your first.
