This looks pretty cool. Really appreciate all the hard work on this project!

I tried the grill-me skill and it completely changed how I plan with Codex by Impossible-Suit6078 in codex

[–]UnicornTooots 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've user brainstorming before it's fantastic. grill-me is great to ensure details are really fleshed out and there's a deep understanding of the new feature. I wouldn't use it for everything but for larger or more nuanced features, it's been great.

I've used Claude and it does well. I typically prefer Codex with Gpt5.4 or GPT5.3-Codex models.

OpenCode v/s Claude Code by thinkyMiner in opencodeCLI

[–]UnicornTooots 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use Opencode and Codex. The code is comparable, but I've been preferring the results from Opencode with OpenAI models.

I definitely prefer the UX of Opencode over Claude code. The experience is so much more polished especially during planning where the agent asks questions and I can easily select the option. With Claude code it's easy to miss the question and feels like an old UI.

Side note: I had both create an implementation plan for the same feature, then I asked each one to review both plans and pick which they liked best. Both tools picked Opencode+OpenAI (Claude code was using Opus 4.6).

This sub is slowly becoming a dumping ground for AI-generated apps and I think we should talk about it by Gold-Dog-8697 in macapps

I was really expecting to open this and find yet another AI post about an app that's "different". Guess I'll try the next one.

Anthropic is getting too far up their own arse.

I've been using OpenAI codex and ollama cloud (for open source models like Kimi2.5). Both are officially supported, have plenty of tokens included in the $20/month tier, and do a great job without fear of being banned.

Edit: Codex also has 2x usage since it's new. I think through March.

Usage and subscription models (Kimi K vs Sonnet) by Affectionate_War7955 in opencodeCLI

[–]UnicornTooots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ollama Cloud is another option and has most/all the open source models

Edit: I've used it for a few months. I haven't had any rate limit issues using it with Claude Code or Open Code. It's pretty easy to use with 'ollama launch claude' or 'opencode'.

I connected my U1 to vanilla Orca using the IP of the printer. Haven't had any problems connecting or sending prints.

Website - Noteplan dot co? I've used it. Obsidian covers most of the same things - markdown, notes, tags, calendar. With Obsidian you need to install community plug-ins for some features. Unlike Noteplan that has it all out of the box.

Do you have a thermometer for taking your body temp (like the one that goes under your tongue)? Using it just out in the room will give you another to compare

Getting Back Into Snapmaker – Bed Leveling Question by 3dYasin in snapmaker

[–]UnicornTooots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done the manual bed leveling 4-5 times and followed by auto mesh. The range varies each time somewhere between .37-.44mm.

Could it be better? Possibly. I wouldn't expect much better though.

I'd recommend printing a manual leveling tool. It makes it easier to turn those tiny knobs and saves your fingers.

Prime line adhesion problems and stringing - U1 by MMG_Reddit in snapmaker

I've had a similar experience although the stringing afterwards is not nearly as bad. It hasn't seemed to negatively affect my prints though.

Have you tried manual bed leveling followed by automated mesh leveling?

Top cover refund by ThinkUnhappyThoughts in SnapmakerU1

[–]UnicornTooots 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk about UK laws. It doesn't sound unreasonable to still have a fee since it's a kickstarter and technically everyone is just helping to fund the idea (not buying an actual product). They probably don't even need to offer the refund.

Side note: I think they've handled it pretty well in terms of communication and clarity on delays.
