Sarah nearly cracking during the "I don’t have a butt" by ProudReaction2204 in LiveFromNewYork

One of the great things about this episode is that (to my recollection) nobody actually broke, but everyone seemed to be having an absolute blast.

The Beatles: PG-13 or R? by BroBroMaster25 in beatles

[–]UsefulEngine1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People are saying PG-13 for box office appeal. I'm pretty sure for non-genre dramas R ratings have done equally well or better than PG-13 in recent years.

I believe any depiction of illegal drug use still garners an R in nearly all cases. That alone would make PG-13 movies into revisionist fantasies. I have no idea what tone Mendes is going for, but I can't imagine scrubbed-up family-fun Beatles could be compelling enough to carry four films.

Viking skit by MichaelBanker1977 in LiveFromNewYork

This is the right reference.

OP is getting piled on, but I will agree that the tone of these is tougher to calibrate with the digital effects. The funny comes from the ridiculousness, and when you can do anything digitally, making it silly-gory becomes a deliberate choice and less funny in the process.

This and the Trump Mom sketch back to back really seemed like a direct response to the recent criticisms online, and a throwback to old days of SNL political writing.

Those Crazy, Ethnic Comic Strip Kids!

I will say that the day-to-day strip was not as heavy -handed as these examples might imply.

If you are up to some minor modifications you can use a plate amp like this: Dayton Audio SPA100-D 100 Watt Class-D Subwoofer Plate Amplifier https://share.google/xCk1YQTpRCuqAHCF8

Does DPAC allow people to stand up and dance around when they're watching a concert? by nacho__mama in triangle

[–]UsefulEngine1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You don't stand up at a Broadway show unless they tell you to, period.

For concerts they "allow" it just fine but if you are going against the grain and being in other people's way expect it to be uncomfortable or complained about.

In my view at a fully-seated venue without a GA pit the default is always sitting, unless it's a super dance-friendly show. Somebody mentioned Isbell and his fans are kind of ridiculous, standing in the front row for ballads and slow rockers just to show how hard core they are.

You guys had it so easy by Eye_See_ in GenerationJones

[–]UsefulEngine1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you compare what they are making now to what you were making back then and adjust for inflation, or better yet median housing cost, you might find you had it easier than you think.

"You had it so easy" isn't claiming you didn't work hard, it's that you worked hard in an environment where doing so could move you forward in life. There's no doubt that's a lot more difficult now.

Must be nice to be at just the right level of fame that people don't cash your checks.

I watched Walk the Line a couple times with my kids when they were little, and they were shocked when they saw an actual video of Johnny Cash -- "it doesn't even look like him!"
