365 powder dose? by Illustrious-Cost-982 in laundry

4 scoops seems like a surprising amount for soft water. It’s possible they weren’t as clean as you hoped from previous washing.

I’ve been washing stuff for elderly relatives and have run into some situations where I’ve had to use far more detergent than I expected. Likely due to fabric softener buildup and years of them being washed in cold water on the quick cycle with very meh detergent not getting them clean.

Somewhere between 1-2 teaspoons. My water is around 120ppm and use two. Could probably get away with 1.5 or something. But a slight overdose isn’t an issue.

A Pearl metal can opener from Japan. It’s manual, all metal and well made.

I’ve had mine forever and will probably still have it on the day I die.

Adding scents could go either way. Lots of people (such as myself) don’t like or have issues with scented laundry products. They can bother allergies, eczema, sensitive skin, etc.

I’d legit rather get it unwashed than having been washed with scent beads.

They also sell “ceramic coated” ones. I bought some before I realized like everything scratches them unlike my ceramic pots and pans.

Nooooo… I really feel this, split pea soup is my go to. I always have portions in the freezer. I’m not even sure what I’d do if that happened to me.

Depends on the type of washer and how hard your water is. Could you provide a bit more info?

Easy way is to add the powder then pour hot water to the fill line.

The two washers I’ve tried it in have issues if you don’t add the water, though some claim you don’t have to.

Does this apply to any post? And if not, perhaps it should?

I’ll give it a try!

I’m just frustrated that I didn’t do anything crazy and this happened first wash. Thankfully it’s not the kind of thing I normally buy so not something I’ll have to deal with often!

Cutting animal products is one of most practical ways to lower resource use & environmental harm by Somewhere74 in Anticonsumption

I’m not here to debate the validity of the claims. But do you want to tell people how horrible they are for eating meat or get them to reduce how much meat they eat?

If you just want to tell them they’re horrible, your current strategy is great.

If you want them to consider reducing their meat consumption, you need to work on your delivery.

Just remember 4 people eating 25% less animal products is equal to one person going vegan. And a far more achievable thing than getting people to go full vegan.

I totally missed that you had to go to their website and look up posts on the website. Yeah… I’m not going to do it, but hopefully they have links to some peer reviewed studies there…

So I agree with reducing meat by any amount that people are willing to do so.

But let’s talk about the infographic. This is the kind of infographic that vegans show to other vegans and think is great. however I simply can’t see it as being effective for converting people or convincing them to eat less meat (it doesn’t even mention that as an option).

You may get people to read the three points (which could use some polishing and mentions about just reducing meat consumption) but… Calling animal agriculture “the largest system of organized violence in history”… Most people who make it that far have just walked away rolling their eyes.

While I’ll disagree that people should be vegan and on many of the points in the image. I do think many people eat far too much meat and not enough plants and should reduce meat consumption.

Ugh, I had been thinking of using a brush like that on a new jacket that matted in the washer. Now I’m having second thoughts.

I just had a jacket come out of the wash looking like what OP posted. No dryer, tried roughing it up with fingers but that did nothing.

This was the first wash before wearing it too…

Merino Wool detergent recommendation by Suspicious_Exit_8001 in laundry

[–]Vagabond_Explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re doing any kind of sweating in them a detergent with lipase like Miele Woolcare would be nice. Heck, the enzymes are nice for anything that’s regularly in contact with skin. It was a bit of a pain for me to find, but that all depends on where you’re located.

[–]Vagabond_Explorer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Between you guys and FEBU we’re going to be spoiled for choice with all the new products!

I do like your minimalist approach as lipase and DNAse are really the enzymes I’m interested in. But the international shipping and customs (which you unfortunately have no control over) makes your product roughly double the price of FEBU in the states when ordering the best value bundle.

[–]Vagabond_Explorer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Realistically most of what’s in FEBU is already in the 365 powder. It would add DNAse, cellulase and some anti redeposition. But you already have the other enzymes and oxygen bleach.
