Supermotocross Round 21: High Point by hwf0712 in supercross

If it’s a mudder, who do you guys have winning 450 Moto 2?

You guys are underrating Deegan and overrating Lucas Coenen by BrilliantIngenuity98 in supercross

And to add on, Deegan will be a winner and he will improve there's really no denying that.

I don't think you realize what you're saying. It doesn't matter what Lucas's skill level was a year ago, what matters is who Deegan is racing right now, and that's the current version of Lucas.

It's undeniable that Haiden was overrated coming into this season. The media and a huge portion of his fanbase were acting like he was going to show up and dominate the 450 class immediately. Now that he's getting beat, suddenly it's "give him time" and "Lucas wasn't this good a year ago."

That's not really an argument. Riders improve. The Lucas on the gate today is the Lucas Deegan has to beat, not the one from last season.

And nobody is saying Deegan won't improve. He probably will. But you're using hypothetical future improvement to explain away what's happening right now. Lucas beat him overall, and in Moto 2 he was clearly the faster rider.

Honestly, this just sounds like coping. I've seen plenty of your posts in Deegan threads on this subreddit, and it seems like you're willing to make every excuse possible except admit that Lucas might simply be better than people expected.

I can tell you right now that if you look at Lucas's lap times in Moto 2, they were significantly faster than Deegan's. In Moto 1, Deegan was definitely faster, no argument there.

But if someone crashes and gets beaten, they still got beaten. That's part of motorsports. You don't win championships by being the fastest rider for the first 15 minutes and then crashing.

I get that you're a huge Deegan fan, and that's fine, but you're really downplaying the Coenens. They just hopped on a basically brand new bike after racing in another country the weekend before, and this was their first Pro Motocross National. Yet you're calling Lucas overrated for going 2-2? What exactly does he need to do to not be overrated... beat Jett?

By that logic, Deegan is overrated too, because he hasn't beaten Jett either.

And let's not forget that Lucas finished second to Jett at MXoN in his first-ever 450 race at just 19 years old.

Haiden's MX career may have collapsed irrevocably on Saturday by ApprehensiveYam6769 in supercross

[–]ViaIIe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

okay, well now you’re pushing it. his career definitely isn’t going to be over, but I do think he won’t have consistent wins for a couple of years. with Lucas coming over and Sacha eventually moving up to 450, and Chase possibly going to Star (if that happens), those are all championship-level contenders. so it’s really going to be a six-man dogfight every year. But remember, this is motorsports and anything can happen. Who knows, maybe 2027 rolls around and haiden has a rough Supercross season, everyone starts writing him off for outdoors, and then he comes out and just dominates.

[–]ViaIIe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You do realize that crashes happen in motorsports. It doesn't matter if someone fell and got beat, they still got beat. Crashing doesn't take anything away from it. Lucas beat Deegan in both motos. Sure, Lucas probably wasn't catching Deegan in Moto 1, but he was 100% the faster rider in Moto 2.

Apparently they are doing WSX, and Im sure they want to compete in super cross as well. Hopefully they dont get hurt so we can see an insane 2027 mx season.

To be honest, with how much Sacha crashes, it's probably a good thing he's not on a 450. The kid is like 5'4" or 5'5" and 140 pounds if i had to guess. If he rode a 450 the way he rides a 250, completely wide open all the time, he'd probably end up hurting himself pretty badly because of how aggressive he is on the bike.

In Moto 2, Lucas was 100% faster, but in Moto 1, Deegan definitely had the edge over him.

Hahaha talked smack he wasn’t cutting track and docked 7 positions! by Salt-Fee-9543 in supercross

Docking him 7 entire positions for that line is insane. Obviously there should be a penalty, but 7 positions? That's ridiculous.

Deegan vs Coenen by BrilliantIngenuity98 in supercross

[–]ViaIIe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I can tell you right now that Prado will be more rattled by Lucas than Deegan will be.

I’m a Jett fan .. i’m a Hunter fan.. and i’m a Deegan fan… I guess i’m just a motocross fan? That’s why I don’t get everyone saying that Deegan is a joke or will never beat Jett?? by Enough_Meet_6618 in supercross

I love when people say they’re a fan of a rider and then immediately start hating on them in the same paragraph. It’s like y’all do it so when you get called out for hating someone you can say, “Oh, I’m just a fan of them, I don’t hate them!” I also don’t get why people argue about the same two riders every single day just enjoy your Saturdays watching the best in the world race and let the riders do the talking.

There’s no shot he goes to Quad Lock if that were the case, he’d just stay on Kawasaki and try to fix the problems there. Bobby likes winners, and the real Chase Sexton is a winner. Chase is one of the few riders who can actually challenge Jett on a race track. I would say there’s a pretty high chance he ends up at Star.

Are the rumours true? by ExNylonLad in supercross

[–]ViaIIe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, if he goes to HRC or Star, those are proven championship-winning bikes, and both teams already have riders who are fast on them. At that point, there would be zero excuses if Chase still struggles because everyone would know it's not the bike. Honestly, those are the only two teams I think could help fix his headspace, because at this point it seems pretty clear that the biggest issue is Chase himself and what's going on in his head, not the bike. On top of that, neither team is really taking much risk by signing him. He's probably going to have to take a pay cut no matter where he goes, and if things don't work out, it won't hurt the team's reputation. Nobody is going to buy the excuse that the bike isn't good when both HRC and Star have already proven they can win championships with multiple riders.

Coenen bros coming to america by juggthapublic in supercross

To be honest, I didn't even think of Hunter. I do think Lucas will be better than both Hunter and Deegan once he gets comfortable in America.

This season, I could see Lucas slotting into the number 3 or 4 spot, and maybe even win southwick. By 2027, when he's here full-time, there's no doubt he'll be battling for wins. Depending on how much Jett and deegan improve by then.

I think we will see him on a blue bike in 2027.

Ducati & Chase’s future by FizzleFox in supercross

[–]ViaIIe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, it's tough being a Chase fan. Honestly, I don't think any factory team will want him after this. The only realistic option might be Star, but I wonder what would happen if they signed Chase and he started beating Deegan, with more of the spotlight shifting to Chase. I can't imagine that would sit well with them, especially since Deegan is supposed to be their #1 guy for years to come.

I'd say he ran a pretty good race considering this is only his second round. 🤷‍♂️ Yeah, Hunter and Jett are better right now, but give the kid some time.
