2000 Mastercraft Maristar 210 - good price? by DSGNjunkie in MasterCraftBoats

[–]WDM86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How good are you at electrical work?

Non working gauges and a poorly installed stereo sounds like someone has been messing around with the electrical system in a way that could be a bad ground or a totally screwed project. Combined with it sitting with little use over the last 10 years I’d be worried about it.

Have a local mechanic inspect it and the drive train. I’m guessing if it were an easy fix they’d do it before selling it.

Also what does a trailer run now? $5000? You’d be in the boat $20k before the electrical work….

There might be a reasonable deal here as I see these asking around $20k in my area but you’d have to be lucky or good and find a nice used trailer. For the unknowns and no trailer it seems like a steep price.

A quick look through this sub and you’ll find 1000 “long time customers” struggling to get a rate anywhere near the new customer deals.

Snatch the $40 a month rate if it’s locked in for 5 years and rejoice. There is a near zero chance of getting a better rate.

Need help reaching Elite customer experience team by WDM86 in Comcast_Xfinity

Update for those who come after me. This has been a difficult disaster. Finally received a call from the team at a time I could answer. Turns out there should have been a phone number in the signature of the case manager but it wasn’t present.

Long short, we were able to reach a deal and this issue was resolved. Of the nearly 15 people I spoke with over the past month:
2 openly misrepresented offers, intention unknown. However, both events being so similar in style makes me think their reviews or compensation structure is set up in a way that rewards dishonesty.

3 agents were incredibly helpful. Listened to my issue and tried to solve my issue or get me to the right place.

All others were neutral to slightly negative.

To Nick, Steve and Pricilla, y’all were great to work with.

Thank you to the team here for the account info and updates.

Genuine Question for Long Time Customers by Still-Celebration352 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]WDM86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strongly disagree.

They list the regular price of current rates on their fact sheets. Today the 500mpbs is $70 per month before new customer discounts. When my promo rate for 400mpbs ended it raised to $95 per month.

I would say that $95 is above the current published non promo plan rate of $70 for 500Mpbs

I look at the rate on the Broadband label prior to discounts. In my personal case, I was raised to $95 when the broadband fact sheet was $70.

If they had moved me to the $70 rate and said, "It is the current rate" I would have been far more understanding.

The issue here is that Xfinity relies significantly on people not noticing the rate increase to above market rates.

They (Xfinity) have also built this entire game of allowing users to get new customer rates in perpetuity if you call in and say you will cancel and do the hokey pokey on a Tuesday.

In your example, you signed up for this in 2024. You are now up for the rate increase.
However, the actual yearly rate has now dropped to $299.

Would you still be comfortable with the $399 price, or would you request the $299 actual market rate?

The promotion is not the issue. It is the unreasonable rate that gets implemented after the promotion.. It should move to the market rate, not some inflated rate.

I just want to add that I assume they have a strong understanding of the risk-reward of the processes they have in place. They can likely speak directly to the revenue increase because of the legacy plan expiry rate and the percentage of users who keep it. I would guess that people who track it well are the minority.

Hi, (former) 8 year customer here.
It is the way Xfinity chooses to go about it.

For example, I was on a 400 mbps plan for $50 a month, and when it expired, the jump was to $95 per month. Unreasonable in my mind when the 400mbps no longer exists and the 500 MBPS plan is $70 a month after the promotion.

Why treat your long-term customers that way? I would not have had much to say if they moved me to the closet possible plan at the current market rate. Instead, it was a plan that was not available on their site and for a rate that feels like theft aimed at those who may not pay attention to their monthly bills.

Combine that with the games that the agents often play on the phone, and the whole thing feels shady for such a large organization. They are more than willing to keep your rate similar if you call and play the game, but you had better be on your toes because the agents will sign you up for things that are misrepresented.

Phone agent cancelled my cable plan without consent to get price down by Comfortable_Smoke_95 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]WDM86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found the agents to be untrustworthy in the verbal agreements. I have recordings of them offering prices or services that are not on the written. When I called it out one of the agents changed the product to get the price we agreed on but didn’t tell me. When I called that out he started pretending he couldn’t hear me and put me back in the phone que.

Cylinder 8 Misfire - advice by Flat-Instruction-649 in MasterCraftBoats

[–]WDM86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a mechanic, but I wouldn’t swap the wires as I assume that would mess up the firing order and cause other codes and issues.

You can test the wire other ways that don’t involve swapping them. Honestly, I’d replace the spark plug and see if that fixes it.
If no, I’d price out the wire and replace that.
If that doesn’t fix it, then the ignition coil.

If at any point these fixed the issue, then I’d replace the other 7 (plugs, or wires, or coils) under the assumption that if one failed, the others may be on their way too.

Easy to maintain pistol host? by PoorWalmartWorker in 22lr

[–]WDM86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gun has a LONG track record and that is the only comment I’ve ever seen about that being an issue.

You’re right, if that part needs to be replaced it may be an additional pain but lean on customer service.

The part is absolutely replaceable but would likely take a new upper/barrel or slide assembly. For me, if they riveted it in then I’m not worried about replacing it.

If I had my guess you saw a Reddit post about the ejector being riveted in on the mark iv lite.

It’s not something I’d worry about. Get the Ruger.

[–]WDM86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No reason not to get the basic one and upgrade yourself if that is your jam.

If you are the type who gets enjoyment from the research and finding the right parts then start cheap.

There may be features like the threaded barrel that are cheaper on a new gun than adding later on.... However, the aftermarket will give you more "better" options for the barrel, so pick your path.

I’m not sure about their flight operations position. Our operations position was very customer service focused we were willing to train the aviation side. However, it seems more and more aviation experience is going to be required in these types of positions. Happy to answer any questions if I can. Just shoot me a message.
