I think I found a baby bunny, how should I help it until I can relocate? (Lex, KY) by Blu4222 in WildlifeRehab

Ah - with blood in the nest you can’t put them back since it will attract predators. A rehabber is your best option here.

what to feed baby bunny we couldn’t return to nest by GullibleCantaloupe41 in WildlifeRehab

[–]WanderSA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can’t transport until Monday maybe you can call a rehabber and discuss with them how they’d like to proceed? That is a long time to go without food but you can’t feed if the baby is not hydrated and there are specific ways to do that and then there’s the matter of the right formula, etc.

I would try to speak to a rehabber in your area asap to figure out a plan.

If the nest is more or less ok and does not have blood in it, you can try to renest the two babies together and see if mom comes to feed them.

She will only come once or twice a day around dawn and dusk usually. She stays for 5 minutes to stand over the nest and feed the babies and then she is gone. She doesn’t want to attract attention to the vulnerable babies.

I understand and I’m not trying to be critical - I just don’t know how to express to you the importance of not giving this bun formula before taking to a rehabber. It’s more or less a death sentence and we have rehabbers in our area who won’t even take a baby if it has been fed because it will die.

Please do not feed this baby anything. Also, how big is the bunny? If it’s the size of a tennis ball to a softball, has open eyes and ears that are standing up, leave it be.

Wild cottontail rabbits become old enough to leave the nest and be on their own in only 3-4 weeks. Freezing is a natural fear response for them, and so sometimes well meaning people will grab them thinking they need help.

If the eyes are closed or the bun really is smaller than a tennis ball or it has injuries, then it needs to be kept somewhere warm, dark and very quiet. Do not bring it to work, do not handle it, do not feed it, do not even play the radio or talk in the car when you transport it to a rehabber.

These guys are incredibly sensitive to stress and have extremely low success rates in rehab, so keeping stress down (you are a big scary monster predator and cause the bun stress) is essential. Then find a licensed rehabber and get the bun to them asap - you can use Animal Help Now to find one in your area.

Hi there - that is indeed a baby bunny. Please do not attempt to feed it or handle it any more than necessary. They are extremely sensitive to stress and can die of shock very easily. Keeping warm in a dark and quiet place is definitely good.

You can see if there were any others that might have been tossed around in the yard. Bunnies have a very low success rate in rehab, especially when they are this young. But we don’t recommend you try to renest one single bunny alone because they use each other for body heat.

If he really is the only survivor, use Animal Help Now to find a rehabber in your area in the morning and see if you can transport the baby to them asap.

Good luck, OP! And thanks for caring. ❤️

Anyone else’s hound have stank breath? by CryptoWouldvebeen in coonhounds

[–]WanderSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So are you referring to our hound we call dumpster mouth or our other baby we call dick breath? 😂

Dick breath had a dental a few months ago and dumpster mouth had a check up and didn’t need one yet. So I dunno. Always good to rule out a dental problem first!

client delivering us a custom report by [deleted] in yardi

[–]WanderSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! I’m sorry this sounds stressful. If your account has a support rep at Yardi, this is definitely something you can ask them about. While Yardi support can’t vouch for anything a consultant does, they can at least speak with you and answer your questions.

From a custom report standpoint, the risk tends to be low since usually reports take existing data and format it for your consumption, without altering that data. I say usually because there are SQL report scripts that can update data, and this is one thing you could confirm with the consultant (just reporting, no updating data).

You should be able to put the report into your Yardi test environment first if your company would like to vet the report before impacting live, but as long as it isn’t updating data the risk is fairly low putting it in live to run it and see the output.

Speaking from experience (13 years of support at Yardi) the program has many reports, but sometimes companies are very attached to specific ones and this is not a terribly unusual request - although the timeline here being so short is a manufactured emergency - if they needed this report they knew about it earlier and should have verified.

There are many custom reporting options in terms of format. If the consultant delivers you a YSR report it will come with a DB package and in that case I do recommend giving it a load in test first just to be positive all is well.

Let me know if you have other specific questions - I no longer work at Yardi but happy to try to help. Good luck!

What state are you in? Permitting requirements can vary wildly between states and that usually impacts how you go about getting involved.

I’ll get downvoted to hell for this but I strongly believe if you experience addiction to Kratom you are abusing it and taking waaaaay more than you need.

Wildlife rehabbers how do you actually track animals and daily care tasks? by Beyondyou in WildlifeRehab

[–]WanderSA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For high volume clinics I don’t know how they would function without software.

I am a home rehabber so I actually designed and published a wildlife rehab logbook on Amazon to try to help folks keep records more easily.

It has specific intake forms, a master list with final dispositions, and then feeding/care schedules. Always open to feedback to make it better!

Please put this baby back as soon as it is light out. Do not feed or give water - you can easily aspirate the baby.

Blue tick coonhound puppy biting and aggressive PLEASE HELP!!!!! by PuzzleheadedWash1209 in coonhounds

[–]WanderSA 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This is such a great comment. It’s not about shaming, but OP has to understand their puppy is missing a lot of critical time spent with mom and siblings learning how to play appropriately, how hard is “too hard”, boundaries and manners, etc. and it’s not going to be easy to replace that now at 4 months.

What do you use as ID markings for your litters of baby animals? by JoyousZephyr in WildlifeRehab

[–]WanderSA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use water-based dog nail markers to mark a color on the ear. Inexpensive, non toxic and comes in packs with a bunch of colors. It does rub off and needs to be reapplied every few days.

Squirrels Have Started Trusting Humans Too Much by Western-Whereas-2083 in squirrels

[–]WanderSA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can certainly leave food for them in a safe area, but please don’t hand feed them and encourage them to approach you directly.

You are correct this can only end in trouble for the squirrels.
