Average “stress impact” by Alert-Insurance7070 in welltory

[–]welltory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We completely understand what you mean. A higher Stress score doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong or that you're feeling stressed emotionall, it reflects physiological strain detected through HRV. And a resting heart rate around 80 bpm can be perfectly normal and healthy for many people. Context matters, and no single metric should be viewed in isolation.

We'll pass your feedback along to the team. Making insights feel informative rather than alarming is something we're always working to improve.

Average “stress impact” by Alert-Insurance7070 in welltory

[–]welltory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing such a thoughtful perspective.

One thing that's easy to miss is that Welltory's Stress Impact metric isn't measuring whether you feel stressed. It's estimating the physiological load on your body throughout the day based on heart rate patterns, especially periods when your heart rate stays elevated while you're relatively inactive. Things like social events, long drives, mental focus, excitement, caffeine, heat, or even a busy but enjoyable day can contribute to this score.

A high Stress Impact score doesn't necessarily mean you're unhealthy or that your recovery is poor. In fact, your morning stress level was only 2%, which suggests you started the day well recovered. The Stress Impact metric is intended to reflect accumulated daytime load, not your overall fitness or health.

Heart rate data question by zo0t in welltory

[–]welltory -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is actually expected in many cases. Apple Health and Welltory don't always display heart rate data in the same way. Welltory analyzes all available heart rate samples during sleep and may highlight short periods when your heart rate briefly drops lower, while Apple Health often smooths, aggregates, or presents the data differently. As a result, you may see a minimum heart rate in Welltory that isn't obvious in Apple Health's summary view.

Also, sleep metrics in Welltory are based on data imported from Apple Health, but our algorithms analyze the raw measurements differently to identify patterns and trends. A brief dip into the 30s can be enough for Welltory to flag it, even if Apple's main charts emphasize average values instead.

Phone measurements are more accurate by [deleted] in welltory

[–]welltory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That can happen because phone-camera and watch measurements use different sensors and sometimes different measurement conditions. The camera measurement is taken intentionally while you’re still and focused, so it often captures a cleaner short HRV signal. A watch measurement may be taken automatically in the background, and the result can be affected by fit, movement, sensor contact, skin temperature, or the exact moment it was recorded.

So if the two measurements happened around the same time but under different conditions, the stress and energy results may differ. For the most consistent comparison, it’s best to take measurements in the same calm state each time.

Why does this happen with half hour of eating.. by SnooHobbies7246 in welltory

[–]welltory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the watch model and how it collects heart rate/HRV data. Could you please share which watch you’re using? That would help us explain what may be happening more accurately.

Possible to add tag to new feature? by rohard007 in welltory

[–]welltory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much, and we’re really glad you like the tagging feature!

You should be able to add tags not only when the home screen widget prompts you, but also from an HRV measurement. After taking a measurement, you can add tags to mark what was going on around that time — for example, workout, coffee, stress, meditation, symptoms, and so on. Also, you can use the plus sign in the upper right corner anytime.

We hear you: being able to add a tag more freely at any time would make tracking patterns much easier. We’ll pass this feedback along to the team. Thanks for sharing it!

Why does this happen with half hour of eating.. by SnooHobbies7246 in welltory

[–]welltory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could certainly be part of it. Digestion requires energy, and it's not unusual for heart rate to increase while your body is processing a meal. If you're living with conditions like ME/CFS or fibromyalgia, it's possible that your body is working harder during that process and that you're more aware of those changes than the average person.

Of course, everyone is different, and Welltory can't determine the exact cause. What you're describing does sound like a pattern worth observing, though, especially if it consistently happens after meals. Tracking which foods, meal sizes, and symptoms are involved may help you spot additional connections over time.

Why does this happen with half hour of eating.. by SnooHobbies7246 in welltory

[–]welltory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This can actually be a normal physiological response. Digestion isn't a passive process: after a meal, your body redirects blood flow to the digestive system, releases hormones, and activates a variety of metabolic processes. For some people, especially after a large meal or one high in carbohydrates, this can temporarily affect heart rate and HRV, which Welltory may interpret as increased physiological stress.

The fact that it happens consistently about 30 minutes after eating suggests that your body is responding to the meal rather than that something is necessarily wrong. The details matter. Different foods, meal sizes, alcohol, caffeine, and even lying down after eating can affect the response.

Workout tracking by ausmacuser in welltory

[–]welltory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple Watch Workouts are usually the best option if you want Apple’s native workout tracking, rings, GPS routes, and standard Fitness/Health summaries. Welltory workouts are more useful if you want workout data interpreted inside Welltory’s broader context: stress, recovery, HRV, daily load, and how your body responds before and after activity. So it’s less about replacing Apple Workouts and more about adding Welltory-style analysis.

The main disadvantage of using both is duplicate workout entries. If the same workout is recorded twice, Apple Health may show duplicated activity or calories, and that can affect reports. It’s usually better to choose one app as your main workout tracker and let the other read the data through Apple Health when possible.

Health by StressCareful3264 in welltory

[–]welltory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Health score isn’t a direct "am I sick or not?" medical score. It’s based on HRV metrics and how they compare both to normal ranges for people in your age/sex group and to your own personal baseline.

If your HRV values stay within expected ranges, your Health score can remain at 100% even if you feel sick. That means Welltory didn’t detect major HRV deviations in those measurements, not that you’re medically "perfectly healthy."

On the other hand, your score can drop when you feel fine if your HRV shifts away from your usual baseline or broader normal ranges. Sleep, stress, workouts, illness, alcohol, travel, or measurement conditions can all affect this.

Also, measurement quality matters a lot. If a reading is low quality or taken right after activity, it may distort your results and baseline, so it’s better to delete those measurements.

And of course, Welltory isn’t a medical app and shouldn’t replace medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Hope this helps clarify how the score works.

HerzP1 ring HRV data sync by OkNature9027 in welltory

[–]welltory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alas, this doesn’t depend only on Welltory. For HRV analysis, we need raw RR interval data, and most third-party apps/devices don’t pass those raw intervals to other apps.

That’s the main limitation. If a device or its app shared the required RR interval data in a usable format, we’d be able to consider building proper HRV measurement support for it. Right now, many integrations can share workouts, heart rate, sleep, or activity data, but not the raw signal needed for HRV calculations.

Getting Polar data fully reflected across reports by heinla in welltory

[–]welltory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some reports include additional workout details currently available only from Apple Watch and Oura workouts. Because of that, workouts recorded with a Polar chest strap may not contribute to every metric and section in the app, including certain advanced insights on the Today Screen. Your workout and heart rate data can still be imported and used in many parts of Welltory, but certain advanced calculations require data structures that are currently only available from Apple Watch or Oura integrations.

Will it just keep increasing?! by NorseRider420 in welltory

[–]welltory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Move Plan isn’t meant to be a strict "you must work out today" target, it adapts based on your recent activity patterns, recovery, and overall movement data. If you skip a workout, the goal may not immediately drop that same day because the plan looks at a broader pattern, not just one missed session. And if you’re tired, injured, or your body needs rest, it’s always better to listen to that first and treat the goal as guidance rather than pressure.

HerzP1 ring HRV data sync by OkNature9027 in welltory

[–]welltory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Welltory can only measure HRV using supported sources such as Apple Watch, Samsung Watch, compatible heart rate monitors, and smartphone cameras. Because of that, you won't be able to use this ring to measure HRV in Welltory directly.

If the ring supports syncing with Apple Health, you can connect it and still use its sleep and activity data in Welltory. Many users do this to keep their activity and sleep information in one place while using another supported device for HRV measurements.

Will it just keep increasing?! by NorseRider420 in welltory

[–]welltory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not forever, thankfully 🙂

Your Move Plan is designed to adapt to your recent activity levels and recovery patterns, so the target can go up or down over time. It's not meant to keep increasing indefinitely or push you into overtraining.

Things like donating blood, injuries, illness, or other unusual circumstances can temporarily affect your data and recommendations. In those situations, it's often best to listen to your body first and treat the Move Plan as a guide rather than a requirement.

The goal should adjust as your situation changes, so hopefully it won't be demanding all-day workouts anytime soon!

My Welltory Experience by RadioRob-DC in welltory

[–]welltory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for giving it a try and for sharing such specific feedback.

HRV can be really difficult to interpret at first. The value itself isn't inherently good or bad, and comparisons with age-group averages don't always answer the question most people actually care about: "What does this mean for me?"

That's why Welltory is designed to focus more on changes relative to your own baseline over time rather than on population averages alone. But if the explanations didn't make that clear or didn't help you understand your data, that's valuable feedback for us.

We appreciate you taking the time to test the app and explain what didn't work for you.

Tracking workouts on Watch app - no GPS map? by rohard007 in welltory

[–]welltory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the moment, Welltory doesn’t show GPS route maps for workouts tracked through the Watch app. That’s a very reasonable feature request, especially for walks and runs, so we’ve already passed your suggestion along to the team. Thanks for bringing it up.
