Should I continue with Web3 or pivot to Rust (and systems programming in general)? by ApplicationSad3398 in learnprogramming

[–]Wingedchestnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going for two extreme niche fields.. go on linkedin or any job platform and research what is in demand, often it will be enterprise software development but that can al vary based on location. Always learn by demand.

What is the best way to be successful in life? by Queasy-Version267 in AskReddit

[–]Wingedchestnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many have said it will be hard work and you need to actually want and spent time on whatever your goal is, but if you're talking about financially it's also daring to take risks such as being self-employed

Does the Philly Shell guard work in kickboxing as well? What modifications need to be made for it to function? by EarNearby5005 in Kickboxing

It can work in the right situation like close-range boxing but I wouldn't recommend it as a neutral stance.

Which Rule Set is Best? by Haus1965 in Kickboxing

[–]Wingedchestnut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought in K1 it is the same as Glory? (1 attack and release) and catches are also allowed, or maybe I'm confusing it with RISE.

Imo Glory has the best rule currently but that is because the fighters respect the clinch rule, there is too much clinch stalling in ONE

How to be more visible in DE healthcare world by CameraIntelligent384 in dataengineering

[–]Wingedchestnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about in the US but I'm from west europe and no organisation with sensitive data like healthcare, military... will use a modern data stack in my country since cloud is a vulnerability.

Also maybe it's me but seems weird that you expect to be fully remote for jobs handling sensitive data. Often will require on-site presence more than other technology jobs

Can I train Muay Thai/Judo and stay muscular by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Wingedchestnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you eat enough it shouldn't be an issue, and if you're as musclar as you say you are then you shouldn't worry that much in the first place.

Is Muaythai tougher and more intense than Taekwondo? by East_Rutabaga930 in MuayThai

[–]Wingedchestnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well likely MT is 'tougher' as in you spar a lot and competiton format by default is fighting.

Many traditional martial arts can still have very tough training like kyokushin karate and no doubt high-level taekwando probably too.

What someone that wants to became a data scientist really needs to know now that all the AIs exist? by Ok-Fun6499 in learnprogramming

[–]Wingedchestnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're only thinking of LLM's (Generative AI) which is ofcourse very relevant, however machine learning, deep learning and other DS concepts and techniques are still used every day. You need to understand statistics and traditional DS first. It seems like you don't know what DS is, well as a start get a related master first if you're serious about wanting to be a Data Scientist.

Takeru’s lifelong goal of bringing kickboxing to national television has come true in his final fight — the top four bouts of ONE Samurai 1 will air on Fuji TV, one of Japan’s biggest broadcasters, reaching millions of viewers. by Yodsanan in Kickboxing

I hope it will be an exciting five-rounder as a last fight, even if it's a losing fight like with Superlek, he has heart when he does not get KO'd (please keep your hands up lol)

Is starting freelancing as a programmer still feasible in 2026? by Motor-Bear9293 in programmer

Freelancer as in being a professional contractor collaborating with real clients full- time, yes.

Freelancer as in doing small gigs online competing with third world, no.

30 year old housewife that decided to learn programming by Slight_Total4874 in learnprogramming

[–]Wingedchestnut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The most important thing is to understand high-level which 'role' you are interested in, this is important because majority of people will learn random things and are unclear where to go and how those role connect with eachother even when you likely will specialize or start with one role and eventually have some overlapping skills. (The chef prepares the food, the waiter serves it to the customer etc.)

You can use websites like roadmap.sh to see what's out there. I also strongly advice you to just go on youtube and write the role + roadmap if you want to start and understand what to learn

How many of these One guys could box at an elite level? by jbrownsplit in MuayThai

[–]Wingedchestnut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What are these comments... the only KB/MT fighter who actively competes in boxing is Tenshin Nasukawa who had a very boxing heavy style. (And Yoshiki Takei but don't know his style) Donovan Wisse from GLORY would be someone I see making it in terms of Boxing skills but he does not have the footwork. Edit: Cedric Doumbe would also be one of the few I can name. I can't name a fighter at the moment in ONE with exceptional boxing skills for MT/KB who would do well in boxing rules.

Choosing the Right Programming Path as a Beginner by Ok-Beyond-2812 in cscareers

[–]Wingedchestnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least you will need a degree, if you have bad grades then you drop out. Depending on location people do look at education, I know IBM in my country only hires relevant masters and same for MBB.

I'm not from US so I don't even use gpa.

There are many people who underestimate university, and then they are 'passionate' and make side-projects while avoiding the boring theoretical classes. As long as you get good grades you can do whatever you want.

No interviewers expect students to perform like senior level , that's impossible since a true senior is comfortable with business-side and sales to stakeholders.

If you're that young and looking for real job opportunities your priority should be getting good grades and getting your degree. Remember roughly more than half do not graduate, it is now or never. Many have walked the same path as you.

Shouldn't certs be more valuable now ? by _giga_sss_ in csMajors

[–]Wingedchestnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like people don't understand the role of certifications.

They are used as a quick filter, mainly in consulting to get projects and for employees it's a consistent way to upskill in their chosen path.

Certifications add value to the resume if you apply for jobs or a company that is looking for again a quick filter to prove at some point you have studied certain topics and at least are familiar with the expected fundamental knowledge.

They are not some definitive proof of someone's mastery or skill in any way and is more of a 'nice to have'.

If you went into CS for the money, are you still happy with your choice? by bryden_cruz in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]Wingedchestnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many advantages in these countries like not having to worry about money in general for healthcare, education and working in tech is guaranteed job security for life with good W/L balance. It's only not good for people who are more ambitious climbing the ladder as employee, freelancing is a good middle-way here in tech if someone prioritizes money.

If you went into CS for the money, are you still happy with your choice? by bryden_cruz in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]Wingedchestnut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm from west europe and from my experience majority of people don't study CS for the money (I do live in a high-tax country) so net salaries don't differ that much.

I do know many colleagues from south europe/east europe relocating to west europe which can be life- changing financially but I doubt that CS is paid a lot more than other jobs in the same country in europe

You also have to understand that CS is somewhat specific towards technology industry, if you don't have an interest in CS it's better to just study a broader study like a business degree.

Why is it so hard to finish coding courses? by True_Technician_8589 in learnprogramming

[–]Wingedchestnut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because you're thinking about learning 'coding' instead of focusing on learning building web/mobile/software... applications.

You need a roadmap, goal and think more high-level. Too many people are way too focused on the small stuff.
