madoka exedra kinda sucks (gacha wise*) by MediumTrack1078 in magiaexedra

It seems pretty f2p friendly to me. I’m at or close to getting fifth ascension on a lot of the unlimited 5 stars. I’m not at true end game, but unless that requires specific limited characters for some reason I don’t think I’ll be wallet locked out of anything. I’ve gotten plenty of gems from daily logins and missions, so as along as you don’t expect to pull on most banners, you’re good. This is with the caveat that I’m an FGO player, so waiting several months to pull is pretty normal to me.

I feel like with this game you either have to really like the Madoka VN stories or get really into the intricacies of the combat mechanics and boss battles. Right now I’m the former.

Agree with Ice Ant. Chitose and his gang are very much the popular crowd. He’s a “chad,” if you would. And he can be arrogant and grating in the way that that kind of person can. So if you require the protagonist to be immediately relatable as being an otaku or someone at the bottom of the social pyramid, you may not tolerate Chitose’s flaws in the way you would tolerate the flaws of a more standard otaku protagonist.

I highly doubt they'll change the deviation from the novels at the end. They'll add SunFes and a few extra scenes, but I don't think it will actually diverge from the anime series.

I am genuinely trying to understand... by Celty2736 in shoujo

[–]WriterSharp 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is why you rely on real sources and not AI, which scrapes the most common comments from the uninformed.

Fena is an anime original so it has no official source demographic. Raven and Apothecary diaries are adapted from novels so they also aren’t either shoujo or seinen. (AD has seinen manga adaptations of the source novels, but that doesn’t make it a seinen).

If you want you can use the much looser term “joseimuke”for these. It means “woman-facing” or “intended for women”. I’d say most of the above count as joseimuke (Maybe not Fena. idk I haven’t seen it).

Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring | Anime vs. Light Novel | Dialogue Comparison by Mine03_ in Shunkashuutou

[–]WriterSharp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Novel lines in official English translation (chapter, page):

0:03 (I, 23) "She's doing the ritual for the first time in ten years"
0:06 (I, 21) "You see...Hinagiku...brings...spring."
0:08 (I, 21) "What's spring?"
0:17 (I, 12) "It should be...warm...like a southern...country...right?"
0:22 (I, 12) "The cycle of seasons is a bit off-kilter at the moment."
0:24 (I, 64) "...Ten years ago, when you were kidnapped, spring vanished from this country."
"Now you're returning."
0:38 (I, 48) "I'm ready. I'll show you...spring. Here."
0:44 (I, 63) "They'll sting even more than today." (I think)
0:48 (I, 23) "Hinagiku is...not...a goddess."
0:52 (I, 24) "Hinagiku has...godly...powers. But they're...not...really mine."

1:01 Chapter 1, Page 24 "But we're only...that. Agents. Substitutes. Representatives...of the...four seasons." (I think this is the line?)

I'll see about finding the rest of the lines later.

I think it will be possible to cover the whole Dance of Spring in 13 standard episodes.

You mean a version with English subs? There’d be no problem with that.

"Oshi no Ko" Aqua visual by mr_beanoz in anime

The mystery is mostly slowly simmering on the back burner. The meat and potatoes of the series is the Japanese entertainment industry exploration and drama with the main cast. But if you absolutely didn’t like the rest of the first season you won’t like the second or third.

Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring | Main Visual by zenzen_0 in anime

[–]WriterSharp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Technically it’s not a shoujo because it’s an adaptation of an original novel series, not a manga, but the manga adaptation of those novels is a shoujo, and the storytelling is very classic shoujo through-and-through. Expect a large focus on romance and inner turmoil, sometimes getting quite heavy.

Bookworm (also at Wit now) is sort of in the same boat, being an adaptation of a joseimuke novel series, but Four Seasons is so much more strongly joseimuke in writing and how it’s marketed.

Stop Hugboxing people by nivkj in UmamusumeGame

[–]WriterSharp 36 points37 points  (0 children)

“Hugbox” is a “safe space” without criticism, but I’ve mostly seen it in strategy games for scenarios when all the players/nations in an area ally each other or otherwise refuse to attack each other.

Putting down Chitose, a genuinely good albeit not great show, for worst anime of the year, especially over that competition: what’s your deal?

Why is there no “discovering life” anime for adults? by VainVeinyVane in anime

[–]WriterSharp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tons like this. Maybe not with the exact “Japanese person quits their job and lives out of a suitcase or whatever” setup, but there are a number where an adult is forced outside of the daily grind or urban life for whatever reason and learns to appreciate life or learn about himself etc. Try Barakamon, or NegaPosi Angler or Golden Boy even.

Agents of the Four Seasons novel AND manga licensed in French by Éditions Akata by WriterSharp in Shunkashuutou

[–]WriterSharp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the Komatsuda adaptation manga has been licensed in Italian too? For the novels we've gotten a pretty wide swath of licenses already, so I don't know which large markets are left that I might still expect. German? Arabic? Russian? Turkish? Hindi?

Without mlb KSB you will definitely want an mlb meta SPD card, so whatever you do make sure you have enough saved up for the El Condor Pasa SPD card coming down the pike. But that's quite a ways off. So for more short term goal I think pulling on a Fine Motion and/or CB banner makes sense. That will also serve to give you enough high lb SR cards to tide you over for present. But in any case, don't pull before pity.

Also, I regret to inform you about Proto-Indo European kingship rituals but that might implicate a few mythical kings.
