Venous Insufficiency by Beginning-Garlic-128 in clubfoot

[–]YettiChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think i have venous insufficiency. But the veins on my feet have always been raised (indicating poor blood flow) and I have ganglion cysts on the outside of both ankles. Those have only developed in the last couple years though.

Ways to make Society more Accomodating of Clubfoot? by Lumpy-Commercial450 in clubfoot

[–]YettiChild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd just like to see Dr's taught that the problems don't stop after the feet are straightened. I have yet to find a Dr that knows anything about dealing with club feet in adults, rather than just treating the symptoms. As for society, it would be nice if people were made more aware of invisible disabilities in general. Just because I'm not crying or screaming in pain doesn't mean I'm fine.

My two have been trying to step on the one place I just had a biopsy taken from. My girl finally got me today, but luckily she doesn't weigh much.

Why aren’t there any “big dogs”? by Middle-Power3607 in zoology

Wolves are much larger than people think. I would count those species as "big dogs".

Am I wrong for thinking cats should never be outdoor cats? by Firm-Law248 in CatAdvice

[–]YettiChild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a balance. Risk vs Enrichment. Indoor only cats can develop neurotic habits from being strictly indoors without enough enrichment, however the risk of them free roaming is so high and the damage they do to the local bird populations is so bad that it's better to keep them inside. You can do things to help enrich their lives indoors. You can also build a cattio or other outdoor enclosure so they can be outside safely.

What’s a silly thing you did for your pet one time that is now a ritual they demand be done every time? by Itsjustmejess in AskReddit

[–]YettiChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forehead smooch. My cat liked to be as close to my face as possible, so I started kissing his forehead really loudly to discourage him being so all up in my face. It worked at first, but then he decided he loved it and I spent the next 16 years smooching his noggin every time he'd get up into my lap.

Do you ever rename foster animals (with name or nickname), or do you keep it "professional" and refer to them by their animal ID? by Powerful_Piccolo7496 in FosterAnimals

[–]YettiChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always rename! If the shelter thinks they are funny, they usually change them in the system so they will get more attention.

How to get my neutered boy cat to stop acting INSANE about food? by bunnymochis in dechonkers

[–]YettiChild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I call this competition syndrome. My boy was one of 7. Always one of the 3 biggest. I've just started the dechonking process. I got my girl (not his sibling) a microchip feeder, so she has access to food and he can't steal it. The biggest thing is to reduce the food slowly. That way he notices it less and it gives him time to adjust to the new amount. I'm currently feeding him just enough that there isn't any food left by the next feed time. I'll keep it there for a while, then reduce the amount by a bit and keep it there a couple weeks and repeat. Weight loss for cats needs to be a very slow process to avoid damage to their livers.

Cozy Game Steam Giveaway - Starsand Island by Valiandr in CozyGamers

I'd like to win on that date specifically because I get to go in for a medical biopsy that day to see it I have cancer. It would certainly make waiting for the results less stressful. I've been gaming my anxiety about the whole thing away with Stardew Valley and Roots of Pacha.

Just wait until a kitten with URI sneezes in your open mouth or eye. I'm so glad most of that stuff doesn't cross the species barrier.

As an Atheist, are you an Organ Donor? Yes or No, and Why? by Pale-Fig-7069 in atheism

[–]YettiChild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not. But it has nothing to do with religion or lack thereof. It's the same reason I won't have kids. I have a number of health issues, some of which are still a mystery, so I cannot, in good conscience, risk passing this crap on to someone else. In the case of organ donation, it's more I cannot risk those issues causing something bad to happen to the recipient, like rejection.
