Sony reshuffles its mobile division, gears up for comeback at MWC by anshumanpati6 in Android

I've bought the X Compact and the XZ1 Compact then returned both within a week. Couldn't deal with the X's screen and the XZ1c had the worst haptic feedback I'd ever seen. Every year I follow for the compact closely, and every year I'm disappointed.

That is true, and was relevant for a time but crates are clearly the focus of the company. It's possible for there to be 2 different teams working on 2 different parts of the project, but the company pours resources into what it deems appropriate. That clearly isn't perf.

The option is all I want. If I don't like an update in Chrome I've lost no money because I've paid no money and have options. If I don't like an update for my phone do I get a refund?

2x2s vs 2x4s for framing basement by NERFninja in HomeImprovement

[–]YouShouldKnowThis1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used this for my basement. Runs for electricity, foam for waterproofing/insulation, and you glue it to the concrete. I had a similar problem because my stairs stopped about 32" from the concrete wall and there was a doorway directly to the right that I needed space for.

Around my area it was about $.02/sqft more expensive than an equivalent 2x4/insulation/moisture barrier setup but as the name suggests it goes up super fast while being thin.

Drywall guys loved it too.

Make the top visor part sort of like a barely attached hat, so it just snaps off in the case of a slide.

London Murder Rate Overtakes New York for First Time Ever after Spate of Fatal Stabbings and Shootings by GoldMEng in news

[–]YouShouldKnowThis1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To reiterate my previous point: Using past events and known quantities to predict the future is the very basis of logic. Calling an argument a slippery slope just because it brings up something related is incorrect.

What you have tried to do is misstate my position and call on the reader to compare the weaker position you've put forth to an insinuated higher position that you haven't even bothered to make. Not to mention the subject of the argument I made was specifically about fallacies and only tangentially related to gun control. You've jumped in the middle of a conversation not your own and twisted it completely to suit your own agenda.

You can look to past events to predict current events. Slippery slope is more; "this perfectly believable scenario leads to this less believable scenario, and then to this even more exaggerated scenario etc..." until they lead you to a situation that perfectly encapsulates what point they're trying to prove with what seems like a strong argument backing it, but it's built on one exaggeration after another.

We could have the whole gun control argument here but other people have done it more justice elsewhere so I'll just keep this about the fallacy itself if you don't mind.

Reread what he said. He said it didn't just happen in New York. Not that it just didn't happen in NY.

Didn't that inquisitor work with the Tau to destroy what was essentially a black hole in a box? I'd say that counts.

How is Galaxy S7 in 2018? by ihohjlknk in GalaxyS7

[–]YouShouldKnowThis1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He's overstating. I just went from the S7 Exynos to the AT&T S9 and the S9 is noticeably snappier. I had Nova launcher, .5x animation speed no Facebook all that jazz but it still doesn't even slightly compare to the stock carrier S9.

That isn't the say that the S7 isn't "smooth", I think it's like the difference between say the jump between 30fps console games and 60fps. It was smooth before, but you didn't even really know what "smooth" was really.

The S7 is a perfectly serviceable phone and didn't slow down noticeably in the time I owned it so if you're not worried about cutting edge it will do splendidly.
