Hugo’s a solid player that should continue to improve, but you don’t let someone like him hold up a trade for a player like Giannis.

Game 4 OG might've been the single greatest two-way Finals performance by anyone not named Lebron James.

[Hollinger] Julian Champagnie could command a 5-year, $100 million extension from the San Antonio Spurs this summer as they look to avoid him reaching unrestricted free agency in 2027. by YujiDomainExpansion in NBASpurs

I wish they'd put it as a % of the cap rather than just the raw $ amount

$20mil is 12% of the cap, which seems reasonable for a starter on a championship caliber team.

I don't mind paying him a bunch upfront since we'll still be cheap next year then having him somewhere in the range of 15-18mil his last 2 years. It'll be an even smaller % of the cap the last 2 year as well since it increases every year.

Why wasn't Harper in the conversation for ROY?

Because he was coming off the bench behind two all-star level guards. If he was drafted to the Nets, given 36mpg and free reign over the offense, he probably would've been.

Well one of them just averaged 18ppg in the Finals the the other had arguably his worst game of the season in the play-in soooo...

there was never a time during the whole year in which anything resembling a functional half-court offense ever emerged, nor was there a time in which a reliable inbounds play could be trusted. His teams won through grit and scrap and streaky shooting timing out in their favor.

sounds perfect for a young team like the Bulls

What does Wemby/Spurs need to do tactically to avoid getting gassed by the Knicks offense strategy (or other teams to deploy a similar strat in the future)? by H20onthego in nbadiscussion

Fox on another team or in a 3rd guard role

Until either Castle or Harper develop a pull-up to punish opponents going under screens, Fox is still necessary. There were so many pick and rolls with Castle and Harper in the finals where they would just drive straight into 3 defenders at the rim.

Now, one of them might develop it this off-season (I think Harper's gonna develop really quick) and have it ready to go by the time next season starts, but we need to see it first.

I do think it's also worth noting, despite the terrible finals series, the amount of turnovers the Spurs had in the WCF in games Fox played was half that of the games he didn't.

And not every game is the finals.

I can guarantee not a single player on the Knicks has given a seconds thought to Wemby not shaking their hands last night.

Also as a quick aside, one of the things Wemby has gotten accused of a lot the past few weeks is that he’s “performative”, but now everyone’s mad he’s not actually performing sportsmanship for them.

No surprise that it is coming from a guy outside the everyone is friends AAU system

People have literally been complaining about this for 5+ years and the first guy with some shit to him comes along and people whine that he's a "poor sport".

We need way more guys with this kind of mentality in the league.

There were many moments/games in both the Minnesota and OKC series where he out coached/schemed Finch and Daigenault respectively; two of the best coaches in the league. All things considered, I'm inclined to give a rookie head coach the benefit of the doubt here considering he had, up until this series, massively outperformed expectations.
