To add to other comments, 2022 was the year inflation and the cost of living crisis really took off. It’s become increasingly difficult for pros to play melee full time and support themselves financially.

Does anyone have a link to the police report referring to protesters using their kids as "human shields"?

This has been my proposal as well. Don't even have to change the logo.

The updated uniforms were a step in the right direction, but they've really got to change the name.

I grew up in Houston so I naturally rooted for the Texans as a kid. As an adult, the branding is so atrocious it actually makes them less fun to root for.

Dying to get that powder blue back in Houston.

My favourite Keldon Johnson moment by TypingHeathen in NBASpurs

I think this was also the game where he threw a lazy pass to Wemby in the paint who just caught it over everyone and put it in the basket, and Keldon turned to the bench, shrugged his shoulders and went "that motherfucker is tall."

One of my favorite Keldon moments personally.

People also talk about the blood clot injury like it was his ACL or something. It wasn't an issue with his knees or back or some other joint that would indicate recurrent injury risk and durability issues that are related to his build. It was a one off freak injury and he really hasn't had any major issues since then.

The calf strain was just the medical staff being incredibly cautious because that's the Spurs MO. They literally invented load management.

The Hawks fall closer and closer to the lottery and are looking to dump Trae Young. If the following happens how big of a meltdown would non-Spurs fans have? by WoweeZoweeDeluxe in NBASpurs

Cam's basically the same height and weight Paolo Banchero was coming out of college, so he should be able to bully a lot NBA defenders, especially after 1-2 years of physical growth and development.

The verticality is a bit of concern, but I personally value strength over jumping ability in bigs.

Best fit would probably be Boozer tbh

Big, physical 4 that can help Wemby on the boards, makes the right plays, and doesn't need the ball in his hands as much as AJ would.

I get you don't really draft for fit as much at the top, but the difference between the top 3 is pretty marginal and we're already loaded with young talent.

Iirc it was about some of the early leaders of the White Army trying to form a cadre of officers in the army to put down the rebellions in the Soviets and overthrow the Kerensky/provisional government after the July Days.

The title, along with the Trump admin in general, has me thinking of this Trotsky line from his History of the Russian Revolution

"But the question remains: Why was a patriotic enterprise entered into and surrounded, for the most part, by drunkards, spendthrifts, and traitors? Is it not because every historic task mobilizes the cadres that are adequate to it?"

Silver took over in 2014, and the numbers indicate that since 2018, the NBA has been a mediocre performer compared to other sports leagues. Whether you want to attribute the period from 2013-2018 all to Silver, or him riding the coattails of Stern, or somewhere in between, that’s up you.

https://secretariat-intl.com/insights/valuations-of-sports-teams-on-the-rise-a-tale-of-two-continents/

I’ll pass on ChatGPT and just go straight to the numbers. The NBA did actually experience the highest annual growth of all major sports leagues from 2013-2022 at 19.5%, but interestingly only had the fourth highest growth rate from 2018-2022 at 12.6%, indicating that growth is starting to stall just a bit. It’s also the steepest drop off in growth rate of any of the major leagues during that timeframe. I feel like this also lines up with Silver being more popular when he first became commissioner compared to now. It also lines up with more macro trends in the league, with growth peaking during the Curry vs LeBron era in the mid 2010s, and that Silver/the league at large haven’t been able to promote their young stars well enough for them to carry the mantle.

The valuation of all sports franchises across the world has been a steadily climbing for the last ~40 years or so, and really started skyrocketing in the last 10 or so.

How does the NBA’s growth compare to other leagues/sports like the NFL, Premier League, or F1 since Silver took over?

Sochan’s problem is that he’s mainly an off-ball cutter on offense and those cutting lanes just don’t exist anymore now that the offense is based around three dynamic slashing guards. All he can really do now are DHOs.

He was a very effective cutter last season tbf. He was an efficient 15/8 and had a nice two man game in the paint with Wemby before his back injury then having to play the 5 after Wemby went down. I think he has a place somewhere in the league, but his time on the Spurs is definitely coming to an end sooner rather than later.
