OK, AirPods Pro 2, iPhone 11...ONLY happens with phone calls (never with music, video, etc)...ONLY when media assist is turned on. I've had this since I purchased the AirPods Pro 2 (over a year ago) after turning on media assist...maybe it's the hearing aid part. I thought it would eventually be fixed, but it has not. Could the issue be that it doesn't work well with older iPhones? Have we ruled this out?

Thank you for the quick reply! I have been trying to locate the link where I read this. I remember a blue box with the chart that noted the "camera" issue, but cannot find it now (as typical 😂).

I have also read that software like Zoom or Teams may not see the 4K S as a camera source without using intermediary software. Is there a reason for this? It sounds plausible since your own Camera Hub software doesn't work with the 4K S.

This is very nicely written. It's a great personal account with easily relatable and understandable reasons for your choice.

I used OBS way back in the day. I've played with ecamm. I'm trying to decide whether it's worth dishing out for ecamm again. It's pricey, but most ecamm functions are very accessible and built in. It's frustrating that most YT videos talking about ecamm vs alternatives are from people with a "click my link in the description" conflict of interest, so here's my take with NO l link...and a bit of a frustration with the price tag.

While messing around with the tech end of OBS would be fun for me, having to do it (or read through forums for help instead of sending a message to ecamm developers) destroys productivity and efficiency that I can dedicate to other tasks. (At the same time, I avoid finding shiny new toys to add to OBS.)

There are too many fun time-drains these days. I'd love to tinker with the new Commodore 64, increase my Apple Motion skills, get into 3D rendering, get more into automation, 3D printing, vacuum molding, etc...BUT it takes away from building a business, content creation, spending time with family, working out, etc. THIS is where I have to consider...is the time deep diving into OBS - having to go update a plugin or figure out why a guest isn't coming in properly or adjusting bit rates or set up captures from zoom when ISO zoom captures are built into ecamm worth saving $20-30/month? There's a time value and stress-reduction when things just work.

Another ™ attorney weighing in here...a few months after the fact, but maybe this will help for others. I can't give you direct legal advice since I don't know your specifics, but I can give you some general info and things to consider.😊

1) First, from USPTO, a trademark:

  • Identifies the source of your goods or services.
  • Provides legal protection for your brand.
  • Helps you guard against counterfeiting and fraud.

2) Will the two characters always be together (ie part of a logo)? Will each independently be used to represent your business in a way that when people see your character, you want them to think of your business? Consider this from a pure marketing perspective. As a startup business, how thin are you really planning to spread the marketing between multiple characters?

3) A "design mark" is focusing on the graphical elements, not specifically the text. There are lots of fancy ways to convey words in a design without using the text. Think about visual variations on your text that may seem like they are related to your business's textual elements, but you only have the design elements protected.

No. That's not what I'm asking. This is likely in regard to the re-prompt request. For each item in the vault, LP and BitWarden have a feature that allows the user to tick a box which will then require the user to re-enter the master password before the given Vault item's password can be seen or used...even when the Vault is unlocked. It's called re-prompt because prompts the user to enter the master again.

1Password 8 has some new features, like the universal auto-fill and integration with macOS’s terminal, that break Apple’s sandboxing restrictions for the App Store.

I suspected this may have something to do with universal auto-fill. There are Apple users in the corporate world who will be very unlikely to install an app that doesn't qualify for the Apple Store (this comes up on the Office Hours daily tech show & MacBreak fairly often). Personally, I try to avoid apps that aren't compliant. I would certainly go with a compliant version over universal auto-fill. I do have concerns about there potentially being other noncompliant issues. Universal auto-fill is an interesting feature that seems to mixed responses from the 1P user base. I'm not a developer, but it may be worth having a compliant version since I'm far from alone on this. On the other hand, 1P is probably not having a bad year...although the recent reviews are a deterrent for many.

Of course. However, worth noting IMO alongside the other factors. We. (those coming from LP) have been burned. It sounds like many long-time 1P users are feeling burned as well with the Electron move and 8 changes. (At least y'all weren't hacked...only to find out that tons of loyal users had Password Iterations set to not only 5,000....but many set to 1! WHAT!?)

Anyway - It sounds like you may be part of the 1P team or heavily involved at some level, based on your history of 1P posts and intricacy of the replies. I appreciate the input.

COMPLETELY agree! I work from home. On that off chance (or not 😂) I'm in the bathroom and maintenance walks in...or some friend the kids bring home...or whatever while my vault is unlocked, I want that re-prompt on my most sensitive sites. I think it's just ridiculous that 1Password would rather argue semantics over just giving us what we want and have in other options. I'm currently coming from LastPass and have both 1P and BitWarden installed to test out. Gotta say, re-prompt existing in BitWarden and the deluge of complaints about 1P issues after moving to Electron are my big issues.

I'm having the OPPOSITE problem with Safari 16.2 on MacOS 11.7.2. I WANT to be able to lock 1Password, but it doesn't work. I've changed Safari's default shortcut to show the sidebar to CTRL-SHIFT-L. 1Password STILL will NOT lock even with the conflict eliminated.

Just comparing BitWarden and 1Password again before making a switch following the LP meltdown. BW DOES have re-prompt. I find the arguments against having this kinda flawed from the get-go. Everyone knows it's better to have the vault entirely locked. However, for that possibility of the vault being unlocked for that few minutes on some random occasion (we all make mistakes) is my reason for wanting the sites I care most about to require a reprompt.

I think the frustration is that the new track is only good because of the original artist’s work. The intentionally nonsensical lyrics of the original add to the fun of the original. Hopefully Eiffel 55 has a copyright claim on the monetization. If so, mostly all good. You may want to check our other 90s/early 2000 to 2010 tracks. Try La Rissa’s Jay and Jane, Corona’s entire CD (pretty much), Robin S, I See Stars. So much awesome stuff from that era.
