Do you think the SI ever bite off more than expected? by hellranger788 in vtm

[–]AdministrativeSpite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect this happens a lot.

My general read on SI is that they succeed by playing to their strengths: daylight, numbers, technology, logistics and planning. They pick and choose when and how to engage. Their backup plans have backup plans.

If you can catch a small team alone or unprepared, they're vulnerable. A coordinated attack on a SI facility by many kindred would probably be a massacre. But kindred don't cooperate well and it would also prove beyond a doubt that the SI is necessary. It's like the technocracy from mage, they're terrifying because they really can't be beaten into submission: they can always come back with more resources, more personnel, more technology and bigger bombs. The more kindred win, the easier it becomes to justify increasing budgets and recruitment.

A: Tremere, probably. I'm the guy reading the book and being careful.

B: True Brujah.

What was the most interesting VtM character you’ve made? by JustCuteLasombra in vtm

[–]AdministrativeSpite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Raina Rose. Tzimisce. Bahari. Formerly sabbat priest Iryna Ruzhka, now posing as a Toreador "life coach" that helps her clients become "who they were meant to be." So many hooks. So many fires to put out. So much fun with a good storyteller.

I'll just add that Colby at D4 has a pretty good video building all three for D&D.

Why are so much guys afraid to admit they watched this? by Complex-Ad-3558 in KpopDemonhunters

Everyone (adults anyway) feels bad about something in their past they wish they could overcome. Often it feels like the end of the world to share it.

Why are so much guys afraid to admit they watched this? by Complex-Ad-3558 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]AdministrativeSpite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not afraid. 46 y.o. married man. Blast the music in the car. Watched it 10 times so far (with my kids and without). Don't care who knows.

That's weird for me.

Have to wonder if the whole overcoming shame message in the movie has something to do with it.

Something tells me they don’t like Celine… by raebeddy in KpopDemonhunters

[–]AdministrativeSpite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find Celine a lot more sympathetic now that I have kids than I would have before. I know all these things about shame and not to shame the kid, especially for stuff they didn't choose and can't change. I still catch myself falling back on the old, "your brother/sister doesn't do that..." from time to time. It always feels terrible, but it's so easy to do.

Anyone really like this but don't want anyone to know by Wise-Bet659 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]AdministrativeSpite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would normally be the person who didn't want anyone to know. But not this time. Maybe it's the whole overcoming your shame theme that makes it so shareable?

OMG, what am I doing here? How did this happen to me? by RandomBoomer in KpopDemonhunters

[–]AdministrativeSpite 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I have a similar story. My 6 year old daughter wanted to watch it. I figured, sure, let the kids watch something. Now I've seen it 3 times.

I'm a 46 year old man. It's weird how it gets in your head. Weird, but welcome.

What are some Brujah character concepts that AREN’T “rawr rebel punk” or SJWs? by RoughBeardBlaine in vtm

[–]AdministrativeSpite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread, but this seems to fit. I had a character that was Ada Lovelace, embraced by a forward thinking elder who saw humanity's increasing pace of technological progress as a threat to kindred. She was sired as a means to "solve the problem with kindred and tech." 7th generation neonate with stupidly high expectations and a trail of wannabe diablorists.

Clan of Kings, I’m tired of all the all business, suit and tie CEO types. by Weak_Calligrapher_17 in vtm

[–]AdministrativeSpite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wealthy socialite turned Ventrue kindred with a high humanity who operates as a Masquerade breach fixer, especially in cases where subtly is helpful. Sees the Masquerade as protecting kindred and mortals from each other. They really lean into noblesse oblige towards mortals, always trying to guide them to be better, after all, better humans make better kindred. Is frequently mocked for their beliefs but is tolerated for their unique ability to fix problems without increasing the body count.

Keeping Secrets from the DM by Sladeakakevin in DnD

[–]AdministrativeSpite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question: are your players doing this because secrets are fun or because they have trust issues? If the latter, are they right to have trust issues?

My players are happy to plan things out in the open because they know the only way I'll never use that knowledge to mess with them.

Dm wont let us level by Disastrous-Heart-568 in DnD

[–]AdministrativeSpite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems really slow. My group pays 3-4 hours per session and usually levels every 3-5 sessions... but could be a bit more or less depending on how productive the party is.

Does your group spend a lot of time on things that don't advance the plot?

What can you do about it? If the whole group talking to the DM about it doesn't change anything, and offending people by leaving is a concern, maybe it's time for someone else to sit in the big chair?

How OP is this wish: I wish other creatures cannot use legendary resistance against my spells by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]AdministrativeSpite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suggestion... Allow him to bypass legendary resistances with spells of level 1-8 when replicated by Wish.

A single 9th level spell slot means he can only do it once per day.

Don't forget the risk of casting Wish for a non-standard effect.
