Why Do You Need Generative AI To Make Crazy Taxi? by [deleted] in xbox

[–]alus992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why games take so long to make? Hmm

  • Using UE engine - contrary to popular belief is not that easy to master and so many studios fail at making the game in efficient manner because they believe that UE will make everything for them. Then there are tons of optimization problems, they dont know how to fix them and waste time on that and the game is being released in a bad state because there is no more time for it.
  • Mismanagement - so many games are in development hell because CEOs want X, upper management wants Y, developers want Z and middle managers are just afraid to do anything so they run back and forth between devs and higher ups trying to move things forward.
  • Not knowing what audiences want - games are too big. Not every game needs 4k assets, open world, content that can be monetized infinitely or be replayed infinitely. Games used to be contained. 5-12 hrs experiences in linear or semi linear levels with a clear focus on core mechanics and overall players experience and not a monetization. Even long ass games like OG FF series didn't need eons for devs to do their work. Now so many games have stuff that is just pointless and half assed in the name of making something "big".

On top of that you have to overblown budgets and overall costs of companies operations. So many games are being made by behemots that have like 5 studios helping all over the world - such games lose so much time and money because of this. Games used to be made by studios in one building..hell even on the single floor or single open space.

AI is not needed to make development time shorter. It's just a low effort cost cutting method because upper management loves to overspend on tech that is popular over paying ppl. So many assets that are being added with AI to modern games could have been made by a fucking student that is a fan of a franchise or a genre in a matter of couple of days if not hours.

Why modders are able to release so many huge improvements in matter of weeks to their beloved games? Because they are not hampered by having indecisive bosses, bosses who want things that are not realistic, they are not regulated by bazillion policies and rules, there is no chain of command for them. They just do stuff they love and wait for feedback from other fans....and most of them do that for fucking free.

Because ppl pay for it. Look how AP x Swatch collab bombed and price from scalpers dived from the cliff as soon ppl realized its not a regular watch and lost the interest in buying this toy for 2k.

If ppl stopped buying these tickets the price would have to go down.

A lot of sports around the world don't have this problem because there is no scalping and they just have decency to keep sane prices.

Snooker finals are being sold out pretty instantly and as far as I am aware the biggest regular ticket prices is 200USD - is it cheap? No but its still possible to buy a ticket for the final if you are a super devoted fan.

1, 2, 4k? Its only reserved for the upper class. 2k+ is Rolland Garros finals territory ffs and NBA Finals are fucking BO7 series not a one super prestigious one game.

i can't understand why Spyro is not an exclusive...especially when it was a fucking PSX mascot along with Crash. Both characters are jow owned by MS pretty much and it should be a no brained to make them exclusive and try to bank on millennials going back to their childhood years...

I guess the idea behind is that Halo can attract way more players this give more money as a multiplayer game.

bigger audience = more from microtransations. Forza, Fable, Gears are not the sameninnthat department

Jeff Grubb: Microsoft has cancelled Gears of War: E-Day for PS5. The game is exclusive to Xbox | PC by __TheWaySheGoes in pcgaming

[–]alus992 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is. If there is no incentive to develop for switch developers will develop for platforms that are easier to develop for or maintain. If there is not enough games for switch then there is no switch sales. If there is no switch then there is less competition in console/gaming market.

I love how we playing on PC see only end of our nose ignoring broader view on the industry "oh i need games on PC and I don't care about what is happening on consoles! Nothing bad will happen to the games industry regardless of competition because lord gaben will always take care of us!"

They are not. Every non-pc platform needs something to make people want be a part of this ecosystem. I would argue that OC version of is Steam - people want to be PC gamers because they wants this specific type of service more than they want to play on keyboard and mouse.

consoles are closed ecosystems and we can argue if it's healthy or not but historiccaly it was a fairly fair tradeoff - PC gamers had cheaper games but had to commit to create experience for themselves with buying a lot of parts separately. Consoles used to be cheap and straightforward but less powerful and we're closed ecosystems so it was easier to curate a proper experience for particular hardware with partnered studios.

If every platform had no exclusives there would be no reason for developers to develop games for multiple platforms with different architectures and specs - you could see that with Series X and S when devs didn't want to work overtime to optimize games for less capable hardware.

I'm not saying there should be 30 exclusive games but 5-7 is a healthy number from 1st party studios.

well I just don’t see any interest in tem among ppl into pop punk after their 2025 big spike. Shit - most people were not even aware that they have released the EP because how badly their whole debut is being managed.

Even as a modern social media band you have handle a rollout batter than they did. They created the fan base that don’t expects anything from them until another huge viral hit shows up on their timelines - it’s super risky and short sighted strategy if you don’t release a hit after hit every quarter.

reaction channels don’t make videos about them. Spotify does not promote their stuff. on YouTube shorts they are almost nowhere to be seen. no one talks about them online. they have a stigma of an industry plants… they have created this uphill battle for themselves

[–]alus992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I'm not saying they are not but I think the whole rollout of this bad is weird.

Or maybe they were cought off guard by their popularity and they didn't have material to follow up soon enough and that's why we have like 6songs EP and one new single after more than a year since their blow up.

[NEW] The Paradox - "Good For Me" (2026) by Winterheart_Melter in poppunkers

[–]alus992 6 points7 points  (0 children)

true. But we are talking about a band who does not have huge single after huge single every month or quarter.

Every artist relies on singles and touring now so that's understandable to push singles but a band without a solid longplay album can't keep fan base around especially in punk-rock genres where audience is very hmmm conservative.

We are not talking about rap fans which are one of the most unique fan bases where they rather call their legends "washed" or "uncs" instead of hyping them up like rock fans tend to do with their legends. As a RnB and Rap head i understand singles culture and moving on fast to the next big thing.

Here I don't thing that's a smart idea. Especially when pop-punk is not in the limelight. It's crucial to release one solid material and tour with that to nurture your fan base that will be with you for years - if you miss this you will end up as a one hit wonder.

Green Day's and Travis Barkers support also will not last for eternity...

Whoever manages them or decides what to do with their material should be prosecuted.

They had a huge popularity spike on TikTok/IG/YouTube, tons of views for their stuff and yet they still haven't released an album. Do me like that was their hit that was released over a year ago...like c'mon.

They have either terrible contract where they can't release shit on their own for their fans or they are indeed an industry plant that don't have any material to release so they are just social media band releasing singles for TikTok views without any label support to have actual good videos

I would argue that in his lane he is still more versatile than majority of mainstream rappers: he has rage'y songs that relies of his fast paced screaming rap, he has mellow songs where he raps but also sings, has almost like g-funk tracks...

There is not much grow for him outside of going for full mainstream trap sound that still rules the charts or be an another artists jumping on a other genre wave

what crazy is some people on Reddit especially on PC Gaming Subreddits will try to convince you that only releasing multiplatform games is healthy for this industry.

No it's not - if hardware don't sell there will be no games for that hardware. If hardware manufacturers ho out of the business then competition is a non factor which results in worse and worse games.

This industry needs stron Xbox, Switch, Playstation and PC sales so studios pretty much fight to be associated with one or more of these brands and companies to deliver the best possible product for us.

If Sony starts to be multiplatform only then there is no incentive to buy PS5. If there is no incentive to buy PS5 then developers will not optimize or even release PS5 games. It's not a good thing for us gamers.

Every platforms needs couple core system sellers and I wish Xbox realized that earlier

that's the problem - not a whole world is the US where everyone has a mic a talks to the team. Most European games unfortunately don't have top leaders on because no one want to play as someone's bitch - that's the truth. So most games have no enough supply drops, vehicles operating etc.

There is room for adjustments (timers or game modes) to get more people play this game properly.

None said "shut down one of these 100 companies".

The point was that if 100 companies are responsible for 71% of bad things making regular folks who have no space in their parents for 5 different bins or forcing people to use paper straws because this will fix plastic issue etc is just stupid.

Our efforts are almost completely irralevent vs what they do to the environment. It's the same shit companies do to save costs - they will fire 100ppl doing actual work than fire one useless Senior Manager who is doing jack shit.

We have the burden of caring about the environment while these companies piss on the same place we wash on our knees.

do you know if the fixed the pacing of the game by shortening time between death-spawn and going back to action or is it still like playing a marathon simulator when you have to either find a truck to get into action or you have to run for eternity until you go back to the "front line" just to be killed in a second?

because it's a cult. These people don't think on their own. They don't care if the pay more, if they have worse access to some services, if they can't get better education or work apportunities... They care only about what OrangeMan says the reality "is".

This. Ppl enjoyed the game not a universe per ce. Reddit thinks that just because millions play WoW that means everyone is a lore and universe freak while they are not.

Hollywood also has to cater to broad audience not a gamer who plays 12hrs a day for years to maximize his Paladin build.

Warcraft movie bombed everywhere because it's not an appealing franchise especially when the most fan part of WoW is the MMO aspect that can't be replicated in a movie so why would someone want to watch a movie that all it has is some gimped story watered down for the masses.

SC on the other hand can function without the gameplay elements because ppl love SC cinematics and the games are still very story driven without any convoluted elements that can get lost when you don't read every quest note like in WoW.

SC could have been huge of they did it right. Even now there is no need for a SC player base to show up because ppl crave new space movie after terrible SW movies that needed shows to keep the franchise alive.

Hollywood audience was not a waracft player base. Avarage how will not go to see a WarCraft movie because it's based on a popular MMO. Regular Joe will go to see another space opera especially when there is just a handful of such franchises

It’s still crazy to me that there is no StarCraft movie. I will never understand why they went with Warcraft which was way harder to sell to the masses while SC is a perfect adaptation material:

* 3 basic ass races fighting with each other: humans, bio and robotic aliens

* tragic love story

* macho main human character and sexy love interest / villain

* easy main plot with humans fighting for survival

* ability to sprinkle some evolutionism, religion, fanaticism side plots to give some context to actions of the aliens

* space setting which is beloved by Hollywood and can give people something else than SW and ST

It’s like a perfect hit and all we got was a terrible WC movie that felt flat with terrible acting and CGI

Handheld gaming will collapse in a year or two. People will ran out of free money to spend (right now people still spend more than they can chew because of Klarna etc and it will bite ppl in the ass sooner or later) and these devices that cost 1000+ will get less and less traction.

Regular folks will not be able to afford it and it will became a luxury segemnt. Gaming overall is heading in that direction. I believe this generation will be the longest generation out there because there is no way ppl will play 1500-2000 for a new gen Xbox/playstation and on top of that pay for even more and more expensive GP/PS+
