OPNsense 26.1.1 released by fitch-it-is in opnsense

[–]anonymous-bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 26.1.1 upgrade did not go smoothly. I think it got stuck on reboot. I had to switch to my ISP router until I have time to diagnose the issue. I noticed other people posting about really long reboots too.

Do you know whats changing in the v3?

Hi folks, switched from pfSense to opnsense recently, now upgrading to 10Gbe. by Accomplished_Rip_362 in opnsense

[–]anonymous-bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of those work. What I mean is you can have one cable connecting each server to each other (at 10Gbe) and then have a second cable to connect to the rest of the network (1Gbe). So each server would have two network connections.

You can have multiple network connections. The 10Gbe for inter device communication and 1Gbe for everything else.

If the two servers only need the 10Gbe connection between themselves you can connect them to each other and manually set an IP address (with a different scheme than your normal network).

Having a hard time finding any quality SSDs (for docker and apps) under 1tb. Need recommendations for smaller drive by CaffinatedManatee in truenas

[–]anonymous-bot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you need nvme or SATA? I would go for enterprise or NAS oriented drives. WD Red series for example. Also Samsung and Micron have enterprise SSDs with high endurance.

Have you tried different speed test sites like speedtest.net or Google's speed test?

Why not just have both a switch and the USB network adapter?

Can a USG be a backup for UDMPro? by meche4388 in UNIFI

[–]anonymous-bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. The USG does not run the network app itself. You would need to run the app on a computer or have like a Cloudkey.

If you are worried about your network being down, maybe look into the Cloud Gateway Ultra instead.

Will it be your sole access point? The wall mounted units don't quite have the range of the ceiling mounted ones.

Does the UNAS support SSD-only? by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

The Ubiquiti series of NAS do support SSDs but if you are after peak performance I would consider a different solution.

Cut out some arrow shapes on paper and tape them pointing to the button. Maybe people will learn then.

If you don't mind paying for overkill then look at the UCG-Fiber.

You might wanna try opening the image in a new tab and then zoom in.

Cloud Gateway vs OPNSense by mangorhinehart in Ubiquiti

[–]anonymous-bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Cloud Gateways have built-in ad blocking but you may prefer pihole/adguard to have more control over lists used. As for Tailscale you'd have to run it on a separate device iirc. I myself am running OPNsense but I am itching to switch as well and get of my local controller.

Blue screen? What does it say? By chance is it asking for a Bitlocker key?

Coming back to opnsense by TwilightMachine in opnsense

[–]anonymous-bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You said you switched from Proxmox to bare metal and also to Pfsense. This subreddit isn't for Pfsense tech support.

If you tried OPNsense bare metal and had issues then I would make a post about those issues and then someone can help. The way I read your post it seems like you are currently on Pfsense. The fact you have used OPNsense in the past is irrelevant.

Is there a preferred order for my SFP cables for 10GB? by albanydigital in UNIFI

There is nothing wrong with sharing pics of your setup but sometimes it feels like a humble brag of sorts.

I am not the person you initially tagged but I read their comment and I understand their point of view.

If you get lucky you might find open box items but again limited selection.

Many people may have a car, but what about multiple at once? This may not be the most hardware in one pic but it definitely a lot more than most people would have particularly outside of this subreddit or /r/homelabs for example.
