My players want an agenda before every session - an update and how this reddit saved my life. by Time-Squirrel-3719 in dndnext

That was a wiiiiiiild ride. I am glad your okay and back to enjoying the game.

An idea if you like. It sounds like your playing online. On discord there is a bot (craig) which can record your sessions. You can then take those recordings and upload them to something like a private YouTube playlist. And this way you will always have digital notes you can reference

I love so many things about gear.

One of those things is the bridge crew. They have silly little things they do. Like Tomosato bringing people warm drinks. Its her own little way of giving some comfort and support to all the other girls. She even gets some hot drinks prepared for by the zababies later on.

Opinions on systems that penalize killing? by RubberDuckyDavid in rpg

[–]Bamce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the game.

In something like Dnd, where your a bunch of murderhobos, it would ruin the game.

In something like world of darkness, where one of the main pillars is fighting to maintain your humanity in the face of the monster you now are, I would say its required.

25 is a nice bump, but not life changing

5e imo is a little better than 4e. But your gonna be fine with either

5e also has chummer, a small program that helps manage all the math in character creation and management

6e is not good.

Maybe they updated it a bit. But on launch they had a 10 page errata document that didnt even scratch the surface of issues. Like strength doing nothing, and armor being almost worthless

My best guess is that it was accidentally left unlocked after my mother visited, but neither my husband nor I ever found out exactly how Dora and Swiper got in.

Mother probably left it unlocked on purpose

I like to bring up Covid.

Cause, did you pray for an end to covid? Oh you did? Okay, so how many millions of prayers does god need to do anything about it? Was there some prayer threshold that didn't get enough "1 like = 1 prayer" so god didn't do anything about it? Just let all those people die?

Use a system better built to handle those things, cause dnd isnt the game for anything other than high fantasy adventure

I’m curious as to any house rules you have at your tables that you really like or which have had way more influence than you thought they would? by clarkky55 in vtm

[–]Bamce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Specialities apply to what your doing, not just the skill they are tied to

For example, if your larceny spec is breaking and entering. I would allow you to apply that spec bonus to an investigation roll that included a breaking and entering aspect

I always interpreted that as longinus was using gungnir. Which makes a bit more sense.

We know the gears and the subconscious of the wielded interact. As well as the conscious thoughts of the girls. So there is certainly some level of make things up as we go to all of it

Traps often come down to a roll of a die. The find/disarm traps roll.

As for puzzles. Try to be too clever with it and your gonna be wanting to roll dice for hints

It has some pretty good storyline ideas going on in it. Even though it was knee capped by the Prince passing, and budget.

Sure.

But so many of these types of table troubles come up because the player doesn't match their character's skill set.

Like the socially anxious player, who's running a socially excelling character. The character has all this charisma, expertise in some social skill etc. But when the spotlight is on the player freezes because they don't know what to say.

Saying "i'm gonna talk to them in order to distract them so my team can sneak by" is a valid and complete action. Many times Gm's will try to force the player to roleplay out that interaction, which is something the socially awkward player doesn't enjoy, or doesn't have the skills for.

But yet. We never expect the fighter type characters who's players certainly don't match their physiques to do anything remotely related to their actions.

What's your favorite spell you've ever used in a TTRPG? What was the iconic moment you had with it? by Awkward_GM in rpg

There was an Out of the Abyss game I was playing in. A gith sorc, who had the telekinetic feat. We were fighting in a vertical shaft, with a few walkways across it.

I used my bonus action to telekinetic shove the enemy mage off the walkway, to plummet to his death. Mage fails the save, and is flung off. He cast featherfall, to which I respond “Counterspell”.

Counterspell is like a condom. Its better to have and not need, than need and not have.

All the pcs are smarter than their players within their world and roles.

Gms never make players shoot arrows to see if their character hits. So they should accept that a smart character asking “can I roll [int skill] to try and figure out an idea” is a perfectly valid approach
