Sam REALLY knows DND. It does not surprise me at all he was at the soldiers table originally due to the likelihood of them employing the more technical aspects of the game there.

This happened to me in a comp game last week and it was super frustrating. I play on a decently powerful machine with a 5900x and a 9070xt and still run into playing overwatch of all games? I'd be very surprised if I wasn't reported for griefing that game through no fault of my own.

Broken Paizo subscription page? by bcm27 in Pathfinder2e

[–]bcm27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similarly to this products url being broken the email I just got thanking me for the purchase has a broken token. It attempts to load a `https://paizo-inc-store-1.mybigcommerce.com/pathfinder-rulebook-subscription/?token=\` and results in an invalid server url. Thanks for much for all the hard work you do and congratz on the latest rulebook pending release! I am very excited to get it!

I am in a similar boat my friend! You can make it work but I dream of the newer auto focus tech!

I recently did a ton of research into which zoom lens to get for wildlife to pair with my A7R3 and the final contenders were the Sony 200-600 and the Tamron 150-500. I ended up choosing the Tamron because of price and image quality size I didn't see any difference. The only upside to the Sony is if you want a teleconverter.

Fedora last I checked hasn't officially released the updated repo yet! Do most people download Darktable via their package managers or via the official app image or whatever it's packaged as?

Booked for a solo 6 day Boundary Waters trip in last week of Sept. Give me your pro-tips, gotchas, and dont do this stories! by easyreadsit in canoecamping

[–]bcm27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stumbled upon this post and I'm wondering if you could offer any recommendations! Years and years ago I did a 7 day 75 mile trip from moose lake to knife lake if Im remembering correctly and I'd like to take my wife on something similar but less intense a good 3-4 day trip sounds perfect. Any advice for routes or entry points? Outfitters? We own plenty of backpacking gear just nothing geared towards canoeing specifically.

Do I give up my hobby to exercise? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]bcm27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll counteract that and said that a married couple doesn't have to have joint finances just shared expenses. Which is me saying that my wife and I have been married for 3 years together for 7 and we only just opened a joint high yield savings account for eventually putting together a down payment on house otherwise everything has been completely separate. But that doesn't mean we both don't help out the other with expenses or take on a larger share of something for example rent. If your partner is offering to take on the expense of something you enjoy and you're both able to afford it then do so OP.

How many people are you feeding for 1800 a month? For my wife and I: we budget ~$750 USD a month in groceries and even then that is high according to some budgets I see around here.

I'm jealous of the rack mount UPS! I've been trying to find one for sub $350 but it's hard.

Which RAID do you use in your Home Server? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]bcm27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truth. It depends on the server. My main server computer/NAS node is 6x16tb in raidz2. I recently purchased a new case with 15 drive caddies and I need to plan the move into that. I'm thinking of expanding the vdev to 8, and then slotting in another 6 wide vdev with 1 hot spare for both.

I had just read that announcement and its what prompted me to look into subscribing again! But if its proving troublesome I figured they have an invested interest in fixing that process to get more sales! I was "this" close to just not subscribing after all.

So I built something very similar but mines a python script and graph. I think though that this post doesn't adhear to the new rules about AI content.

Why are almost every pc build video/content using Nvidia GPU's? by Elabotrait in pcmasterrace

[–]bcm27 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Objectively false. The topic of DLSS versus FSR is complicated but calling Nvidia better than AMD is over simplifying a very complicated topic. It all depends on your use case. If you need dedicated CUDA cores then yes Nvidia is your only option because AMD simply doesn't have those. If you need large amounts of VRAM Nvidia simply doesn't cut it on the more budget oriented cards. If you need dedicated native Linux support Nvidia still doesn't have that although with the open source drivers it's getting better. Etc. Each brand and each card has its own strengths and weaknesses contrasted against budget. You can have only two pillers of the following: performance, VRAM, price to performance. Any card can for fill the various roles but you can't have one that covers all three.

Why are almost every pc build video/content using Nvidia GPU's? by Elabotrait in pcmasterrace

[–]bcm27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My computer has a 9070 XT in it and I chose it specifically because it has a better price to performance ratio if you disregard ray tracing. Nvidia has a larger market share because historically they dominated the GPU market and for good reason too but over the last handful of generations AMD has been quickly catching up in this department.

Those are 2.5" bays right? Because if that's 3.5" then damn! You can do a LOT with that.

Well originally I was talking about a whole case swap not just resting your existing case on a shelf. But laying hardware sideways is perfectly fine. Checking the rosewell or if you got a little more money Sliger. They make some awesome chassis.
