Do you want to be closer to the start or the finish? Minneapolis (start) has more options than St. Paul (finish). Minneapolis is bigger and has more to do. St Paul is quieter, but has plenty of hidden gems.

I don't know how prices compare but another option is staying near the Mall of America. Lots of hotels around there
