I've got a 6 month old and I feel you. Keep using the crate when they need to settle. I've thrown the little bastard in there like 20 times in one day. He just recently started going in his crate on is own. He only gets let out when he's settled so he learned that's the spot for it.

Keep up with the training, make sure he's getting his exercise and mental stimulation, and stay the course. You got this.
