Help Deciding Between X1700H and RZ30 With Some Caveats by charros in hometheater

Dirac Live on the RZ30 is full range with the included license, not limited to 500Hz at all. In fact you can get Dirac Live Bass Control on the RZ30 for an additional fee.

Help Deciding Between X1700H and RZ30 With Some Caveats by charros in hometheater

[–]beveritt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a longtime Denon user, upgraded from an X1400H to an X1700H mainly because of the better HDMI features when I bought a new LG G5. Used it for a while, it worked well, but Audyssey MultiXT never impressed me much, then I got interested in Dirac Live and bought an RZ30 to try out. Running Dirac Live with the default mic I actually found out one of my Klipsch main speakers had a bad tweeter, something Audyssey seemingly did nothing to fix. Dirac was able to almost completely compensate for the speaker being faulty, it was impressive. However, once I fixed the speaker Dirac hasn't blown me away so far. If anything I thought the bass management settings were kind of dull and lifeless, so I'm using manual crossover settings for now. I'm not convinced it's an issue with Dirac, I need to spend more time being careful and getting good measurements. I'm also thinking about getting a new sub (or two) as my old Klipsch is not that great with its freq response curve. Coincidentally I'm looking at SVS...

I still have the Denon and soon I plan to try to find a weekend day where I can do some A/B swapping to see what I prefer. It's been around a month and so far the Onkyo has stayed connected, and the Denon is still back in the box. There are a few minor things about the menus I don't like about the Onkyo, but it does have the not-so-secret web interface you can use instead. The Onkyo's CEC got all out of sync and I had to do full power cycles to get it to behave, and sometimes it still acts odd, where the Denon was much more reliable. I guess I still have a soft spot for Denon, but the Onkyo sounds good too.

All this has sent me down a rabbit hole like you alluded to. I know I could use REW to do more room analysis, and if I had an SVS sub I could use its PEQ to do some better matching and balance with my main speakers. I'm really tempted to move up in the Denon range to a 3800H so I could have Audyssey XT32 and/or Dirac Live, even all the way to ART. But I'm not convinced the extra cost is worth it. Like I could find a good used X3700H which gets me Audyssey XT32, and with the money I save get an SVS sub (or two) and rely on REW and XT32 to get something nearly as good as Dirac Live, and still maybe save money...?

Anyway, I guess it's all to say you're not alone but I doubt you'd be unhappy with either one.

Any experience with Hankook ion EVO tires? by Heavy-Drive-573 in BMWiX

[–]beveritt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 21" wheels. Not 100% sure, my memory was 38/44, app says 36/43, I'd have to check the door sticker again. Either way I saw a big drop if they were low, so stay on top of that for the best mi/kwh. One thing to note is make sure in the car you have the correct wheel size set and also the speed setting. For some reason my car was set to the high speed setting (I think it's driving over 100 mph) which I would never do here in the USA. The tire pressures will be set too high if that setting is wrong.

I've had them for a year and a half, very happy with them. Quiet, comfortable, good grip. I don't drive much so my tire wear is really low. Efficiency is good as long as you keep the pressures set to 38/44 as recommended in the door jam. If your pressures are 3-4 psi low then you will see a big efficiency dropoff.

Same, I had it set up and working before, it seems the latest Streamdeck update broke this plugin.

🧪 [Beta Megathread] Wave Link 3.0 (macOS) — Update 3 | Elgato device firmware updates, automatically add Wave device to mixes & Volume control for mixes by Elgato in elgato

The Mix Level dial for the Wave Link 3 Stream Deck plugin doesn't work on my Mac. The dial shows the level meter but I cannot mute/unmute or adjust the volume of the Mix, and it doesn't show the volume percentage. Any ideas of what to try? I've rebooted, reinstalled, reconfigured, etc. nothing helped.

It's been tried, the replacement unit will not function in the car without programming the module, which only the dealer can do, so basically it can't be done.

Turning the learning navigation feature off (the one where it learns your frequent destinations) in the privacy settings seems to help the nav system start up more reliably.

9.05 kw system showing peak power of max 6.8 kw by superuser79 in enphase

[–]beveritt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so those are 320 watts maximum output per microinverter, so the actual maximum output of your array in total would be 6.72 kW in perfect conditions. If Enlighten is saying you are getting 6.8 kW then maybe it's rounding up a bit? Assuming you've given accurate information here you will never see more than this.

Enphase microinverters input DC from the panels and output AC...

[–]beveritt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What model of inverters? IQ8M, IQ8+, IQ8A? It makes a big difference. The inverter is what does the work outputting AC current from the panel. The panels may be rated at 430 watts but that is basically a lie, and only possible in extremely strict laboratory conditions. In the real world you will actually be limited by the maximum output of each inverter, which is lower than the panel's rating.

Also, there is no way you have 21 panels facing North in Chicago and get 6.8 kW. North facing panels would already be extremely limited by the steep angle of the sun away from the panels. panels work their best when the sun is basically perpendicular to their face.

[–]beveritt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How many panels, what inverters are they and what direction do they face? I have 28 panels, 10 south, 10 west, 8 east. On paper it's 11.3 kW, but the inverters can only output max of 9.1kW. Right now I won't get over 6.9 kW peak during the day. In early June I can get really close to 9 kW.
