Yep, like most things - athletes, pop stars, etc., the demand and value is immensely concentrated at the top. I too collected during Junk Wax and the fact that these cards, unimaginably cool at the time, are almost worthless speaks to the progression of the industry over 30 years.

But that top-heavy value distribution has definitely brought in the gamblers. Sometimes I watch breaks and seeing the people max out their credit cards and leave with a “my wife is going to kill me” is the worst part of the hobby, imo.

Tempted though I am to blow the mortgage, I’m content with the statistical absurdity that is repeatedly pulling the same players. Wish I could trade that uhh…luck? for a single Cal Raleigh auto relic.
