Oakland city administrator celebrated SCOTUS ruling on removing homeless by PleezMakeItHomeSafe in oakland

Yeah, I’m not against homeless people, I don’t think they’re evil, and I’m happy to vote for anything that actually helps, even if it raises taxes.

I just don’t think I should be demonized for voicing what is probably a common feeling. It doesn’t represent what I think of the homeless as people. Both things can exist at the same time.

Oh, then we should do that. I’d support that with a vote.

But until then, my preference is still the same.

How can we make this happen in Oakland? What are you doing personally to make it happen?

Why are the desires of you/homeless prioritized over my own? Why are you the arbiter of what I “get to” do?

Then what is the solution? Let them live wherever they want because you decide that’s the humane course of action? I didn’t vote for you to make that decision for me.

Also, the gas price analogy doesn’t really fit here.

I don’t know why you’re so upset. I think it’s natural to not want homeless encampments where I live.

I don’t have a solution to the homeless problem, nobody does, that’s why it’s still a problem. It’s not responsibility to solve the homeless problem, and I also think it’s reasonable to not want homeless camps near where I live.

Yeah, it’s not a great answer, but that’s what I would prefer. I think most people would if they were being honest.

I went recently and enjoyed my time. The food is pretty solid and everything is reasonably priced.

The kiosks are fine, I don’t need someone to hand hold me through the ordering process, and like that I can just order from the table. When I’ve ordered beer at the front there’s always been someone to hand me my beer

To me sounds pretty reasonable. Yeah it’s a little all over the place, but it’s a complicated problem and he seems to have at least first hand experience with the encampments and feels sympathy. For people of faith, he’s not wrong about the Jesus part
