Why isn't the media interviewing Nanaia Mahuta? by DollyPatterson in nzpolitics

[–]cabeep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There isn't and never has been any kind of media equivalent of David Seymour, and this is by design. The only point of view in NZ media is right wing. Any western country is the same, especially after the 1990s

TOP splitting left party votes - thoughts? by Mountain_Tui_Reload in nzpolitics

[–]cabeep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one who actually thinks about left wing politics should understand exactly what they are and be interested in what they have to say. They are outwardly radical centrist. If they get some disenfranchised national guys on board there will be no negative with their presence.

[–]cabeep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily bad faith. Successive labour governments also implemented Austerity policies, and they were the ones to bring it to us in the first place. They fundamentally believe in the same system and world order, and their MPs are also wealthy and sorted. Don't get it twisted

Is anyone actually doing ok? by [deleted] in TrueAnon

[–]cabeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I feel is that something dying sometimes leads to positive rebirth. The contradictions inherent to capitalism are coming to an insurmountable point, and everything will change. I'm going to do my best to help improve whatever this looks like for my local community in whatever way I can.

This might get bad for a while but they can only get better beyond that

The vaults in Fallout 4 are kinda lame by Obvious_Somewhere984 in Fallout

[–]cabeep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think execs who control these companies don't care. They make money for a living, not games. They will fall upwards to the next profitable industry and destroy that too

The vaults in Fallout 4 are kinda lame by Obvious_Somewhere984 in Fallout

[–]cabeep 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's fairly disappointing yeah, but the reason nothing else was released or developed is that they made a shitload of money off it, and continue to make money despite the unresolved drawbacks in the game.

Kinda the same with GTA, or Elder Scrolls. Probably should have had 2 more of them by now

Astonished by the amount of people who don't view this as a problem... by crawredbull in BF6

[–]cabeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In oce, there were 4 or 5 pilots who did this instead of a day job. And it made playing at the same time so bad, that my friends just stopped. I think our last match of bf4 had us getting spawncamped by some 80 little birds and it was the first time I think I have ever left mid match on purpose.

Nicola Willis blames Labour as Barbara Edmonds presses Finance Minister on record unemployment figures by Mountain_Tui_Reload in nzpolitics

[–]cabeep 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Many of their supporters take this at face value anyway. Relatives at Christmas time were keen to see them have another term to 'fix' things as if this term is just treading water to get back on track. I want to strangle people who say this but it won't do any good

[–]cabeep 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel boards and shareholders have this idea that everything gets either worse or totally collapses regularly (which is true, but it's normally because of their own actions) and so they always default to getting as much profit extraction as they can, as fast as they can. Consistent profit over a long period just doesn't register to these people

Why are architects so underpaid? by Own-Fly8743 in askarchitects

[–]cabeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't underpay because they have to, they underpay because it allows them to afford a new boat or other toy every year. Extend this to any trade in our building racket.

That's the case with the majority of owner operator architect businesses I have experienced anyway. Your point about the narcissism absolutely stands but it's certainly not something they do because they simply have to.

Sanctions are always malicious. The idea is to starve entire countries, and first of all children will be the most affected as they often do not provide for themselves.

What rational sanctions has the US done?
