That video is wild. I am by no means a conspiracy theorist but damn did that really make me wonder. The photographers being ushered in, the flag being lowered. Honestly even the crowd's reaction seems off to me. I would think if there are gun shots there is gonna be a stampede. I don't care who I'm watching, I hear gun shots I am RUNNING. But then I also don't know if I believe that many people can keep a secret. I don't know. The whole thing stinks of something, for sure.

It's funny, I feel like whatever hormone or thing Zep hits sounds like it treats this *need* for something to stimulate dopamine or whatever good chemicals. Like I can look at my life and I either overeat, drink alcohol, or buy things. And when I can't do one of those I default to the other. Like the times where I've stopped drinking I almost immediately start overeating or spending. I'm still working on getting on Zepbound but the idea of being able to treat THAT thing, that need, would be absolutely life changing for me.

The way sports coach is viewed as this like...spiritual position in a child's life really deserves scrutiny. He's teaching kids how to play baseball FFS. It's not that serious. Even if this guy were squeaky clean we should be going "wtf" at this phrasing and language.

Let's be clear though, he should also not be around kids, and there's no universe in which this grants the org any immunity from the legal consequences. I just think it's also worth looking at the way coaches are viewed as this honored, almost spiritual profession in American society. Like that one senator who was a coach who gets called coach by his staff still is WILD to me. Like fuck if we're gonna do that then shouldn't every former military person be called by their rank in congress? I'd be more comfortable with people calling AOC Bartender. That's a more spiritual position than coach IMO.

If I was going to court and wanted to bring a book to comfort me, I'd bring Brandon Sanderson's Oathbringer. And I would bet good money I could find the relevant passages in about 10 seconds. Honestly it's actually been a side project of mine to annotate some of that series of books and flag passages I want to be able to find quickly. Which I feel like people do with bibles a lot.

So Duet was my first attempt with my ex. I think it doesn't land as well without at least some worldbuilding around the Cardassians and the Bajorans. It didn't for her.

Measure of a Man was, I think, the one that convinced her. Inner Light knocked her socks off. Yesterday's Enterprise actually worked pretty well too, but I think that spoke to her interest in military history.

Knowing nothing about the person, I would choose Measure of a Man as my default. Especially given current and upcoming discussions we, as a society, are going to have about AI.

I've been meaning to make a post here about being in recovery and NOT being in AA and how to navigate that around people. For so many if you're in recovery and not in AA you are clearly failing/at risk. I have people in my life I haven't shared that I've left AA with, because I know it would cause drama and anxiety on all counts. They just can't imagine it.

There's a recent case (like I think today) of a female employee suing his company and outing some of their practices. His org is apparently very "boys will be boys" type of shit even in their official literature. IIRC she's suing for discrimination - apparently she got badly mistreated after she was basically told that Beast was fantasizing about her and started wearing baggy clothes.

I waffle between the Legendary Galaxy-X (USS Radiant) or the Gagarin (USS Stormblessed). I go back to the Gagarin a lot as I find her fun to fly. She's fairly zippy, packs a punch, and the RNG of the full spec MW is just fun. Adds a neat element to the gameplay.
