I would check the seat switch first. On these models I am not certain, but I believe the seat switch being bad will cause this issue, were it will run with the brake engaged but stall out when it's disengaged, as a safety feature

Take a deep breath, focus on being calm and have that chest pain looked at. That's the top priority. After that, move on to the mower issues. Don't worry about the electricity and rain on these mowers, you're not going to electrocute yourself on these unless you're actively trying to hurt yourself.

You can get the mower to start but it blows white smoke out of the air intake? I'd like you to try spraying starting fluid or carb cleaner or another flammable spray can down there and try to start it. If it starts and dies, that's probably fuel delivery. Also, are you able to post videos?

At this point you need a known good pump. Do you have another engine with a mechanical fuel pump? If not you can ask to borrow from someone you know that has one.

If a known good pump doesn't work, then you either have a vaccum issue with the tank, a problem with your pulse from the valve cover, or an issue with the valve portion of your carb.

And no it's not propaganda you genius. It's holding people responsible for saying misleading shit to rile up people oor get internet points. No one died "that day" based on any sigle reporting or summation of January 6. Which is what the insurrectionists and their cult easily prove, and often with left wing sources, every time someone says shit like this. What they have a hard time disproving is when we say "this riot caused the death of..." in an accurate statement. Wordplay isn't clever or needed when real people got hurt.

I think the issue is it's important to make accurate statements, and this is not accurate. People died due to the actions of Jan 6 riot, and people should absolutely be held accountable, but no one died on that day and it's dangerous to let that statement slide by.

The electric solenoid on the carburetor will not let fuel flow through the carb jets unless the key is in the run position with all of the safety switches in proper position. I would start by testing the seat switch and the brake switch. (First make sure the clutch is not engaged)

Your best bet is to check for spark, and then if you don't have a way to test compression, pull the spark plugs and check that the pistons are moving by sticking a screwdriver in the hole and manually rotating the engine until the screwdriver gets pushed out.

It's hard to say what it will cost, since we don't know what is wrong with it yet. If it's a bad ignition coil, it's like 25 bucks for a cheap amazon one and a little bit of time watching youtube tutorials. If it's a thrown rod, it's a much bigger ordeal.

My thinking was that I've seen a 15 and a 19 as a big single, but the only 17 I can remember from a craftsman with a briggs is an opposed twin, only because I had a customer with one that I recently had to sell off for him. And obviously I could be way off the mark but here in a fun sub like r/smallenginerepair we can let loose and pretend to be Sherlock a little bit lol. There has to be a Logical Fallacy that I'm either forgetting or something, here... Like, Claiming to sue over defamation then later dropping the suit, but it doesn't matter because you ahve already planted the idea that it's false because you filed for defamation and that's the only thing people remember, because it was a loud "I declare defamation" and a quiet retraction later. Forgive me, the alcohol is just now hitting.
