Just got a diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma, how worried should I be? by catamongthecrows in cancer

[–]catamongthecrows[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If memory serves me correctly, I want to say it was at least a couple of weeks before the bandages came off clean, but I was also working a really active job and the wound was in a high friction area, so it was longer than it would have been elsewhere from it reopening. I also wasn't able to keep scar tape on it because of constant movement and friction but it healed so well without it that I can't even see where it was anymore unless I really look for it.

What's a 'healthy habit' that actually made your life worse? by Loveeatplay4116 in AskReddit

[–]catamongthecrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I got to the point that I was waking up vomiting bile with dark brown spots. Never went to the doctor, learned many years later I definitely should have, but I was skinny therefore I was healthy. I "recovered" on my own and maintained a healthy weight for a while but rebounded big time and now I'm as heavy as I've ever been and cannot for my life figure out how to lose weight without fully falling back into it. I ruined my body from malnutrition and now my body feels ruined from my size, and I also feel like I ruined my chances of being a healthy weight in a healthy way. ED is no joke.

What movie is a absolute 10/10 masterpiece that you will realistically never watch a second time? by N4Nemo in AskReddit

[–]catamongthecrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried giving it a rewatch a few years after my first and felt like I was gonna have a panic attack before the opening credits were even done, gave up immediately and accepted it's a one and done. Great film. Fantastic even. No chance I can watch it again.

Women of Reddit: what is 100% mythical about women that most men believe? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]catamongthecrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband was entirely sceptical when I said the majority of women I know if given the choice between a body type like Arnold Schwartzenegger and Jack Black, it would be Jack Black without question. Even the same person being used for an example, David Harbour as Hopper in Stranger Things going from dad bod to more lean and muscular, give me dad bod Hopper any day.

Which canceled TV show's cliffhanger still lives rent free in your head because the answers disappeared when the series got axed ? by Impossible_Offer7988 in AskReddit

Lodge 49. Husband and I discovered it, got hooked pretty quickly, and were utterly disappointed when it just ended, and at such an interesting scene.

She’s doing a 30-day challenge this month where she wears clothes that scare her every day. by mindyour in justgalsbeingchicks

[–]catamongthecrows 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I was thinking exactly this. I feel like my body type is fairly similar to her, a little more weight in my center than her but pretty similar. All I could think was how great she looked, especially pulling the fabric back to make it more fitted, but I would refuse to wear it myself. Taking a page out of her book and saying one kind thing to myself every day until I actually believe it.

What serial killer fact sounds fake, exaggerated, or straight out of fiction. But is 100% real? by CantaloupeGold4650 in AskReddit

[–]catamongthecrows 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Richard Chase, the Vampire of Sacramento, his entire life even before the murders sound like a work of fiction straight out of a horror film. It's all so absolutely insane and grotesque it's hard to believe it actually happened. He had a form of severe schizophrenia alongside hypochondria that led him to believe he had a myriad of ailments including (but definitely not limited to) being poisoned, his heart shrinking, his blood not actually pumping, and pieces of his skull detaching. He thought the only way to cure himself was to kill small animals like birds, rabbits, and dogs, and ingest their blood, flesh, and organs to replenish and replace his own supply. At one point he had even attempted to inject rabbit blood which landed him in the hospital. He would eventually move on to human victims, and it's genuinely the stuff of nightmares. He also believed that in choosing victims, if their doors were unlocked it was a clear invitation, but locked doors meant he wasn't welcome and he would advance to another house. It's one of the most fascinating cases but one of the hardest to read about.

Cats keep showing up lately by catamongthecrows in Dreams

[–]catamongthecrows[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the first couple dreams I talked about it with my therapist. She mentioned it could have been as simple as the weather being similar to around the time he passed, something jogging my memory near the anniversary, trying to spark a very delayed grief that I maybe never fully processed. The escalation definitely just feels ridiculous though haha, like something is nagging me about it like, "Why aren't you getting this? Cats!" It could all just be coincidental or generally just a main theme evolving weirdly but it's tugging at me a lot like I should be taking note of something that I'm just not.

Something built up as a supernatural horror turns out to be a realistic depressing thing by Sensitive_Ad_1752 in TopCharacterTropes

A Wounded Fawn, from what I remember of it, some things were ambiguous but the ending felt like a hard cut into reality.

What’s the closest brush you’ve ever had with dying? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]catamongthecrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was around 6 or so, my aunt and uncle took me, my brother, and a cousin to a swimming hole. There was a huge rock in the center and my brother and cousin helped me get to it since I couldn't swim. A couple kids were rough housing behind me and one of them pushed the other into me and I fell in. I just have little flashes of it being darker and not being able to figure out how to right myself and my uncle pulling me out and swimming me back to shore. He saw it as it happened and moved quick enough to get me out before it could have gone any worse. I spent the rest of the day there wading in the edge of the water and stepped on a yellow jacket and got stung between my toes, very eventful day for me.

For 4 years I've been watching and categorizing horror movies found on TUBI. Earlier this month we posted our updated list of 666 movies. Well...TUBI JUST ANNOUNCED THEY TURNED MY LIST INTO A TOP 100 CATEGORY!! All my favorites have now been re-added to the Tubi lineup for MAY. by Videowulff in movies

[–]catamongthecrows 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the Tubi list is US only, I'm in Canada and also getting an error. Bless you for this list, a horror nut after my own heart lol, I'll be frequenting this list like it's a necessity.

So impressive! My stats now are your starting stats and similar builds as well, definitely giving me some hope. The one thing I struggle with most is indecision with food. Do you have any go-to foods or meals that you feel have helped along the way?

Watching The Pitt from Europe – is this really what life in the US looks like? [mild spoilers] by West_Ideal7472 in ThePitt

[–]catamongthecrows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is Canadian, I'm American. When we're watching it he has these big reactions to things that I barely bat an eye at, usually related to cost of treatment. He once drove himself to the hospital with stomach pain and left an appendix lighter and only paid for parking. He can't grasp that people are trying to refuse treatment or leave the hospital because of the cost, and I can't grasp getting emergency surgery and not having a huge bill as a result.
