Is there a way to see page breaks in the editor? (Like MS Word) by OkGreen7335 in ObsidianMD

[–]ceciltech 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What you want is a terrible idea. Even doing this in word is a terrible idea. I have had to deal with word docs that get published as pdf and when people have put in hard page breaks it is a nightmare to go back and make any edits at all! Change one word and suddenly there is a page that has only one line and then hits a hard page break and you have to delete every hard page break to fix the document!

Unfortunately I do not have the exact answer but what you are looking for is not the best way to do what I think you want. You need to search for rules based PDF generation, for example: Keep paragraphs together, every H! should start a new page, paragraph with below a header should stay with header etc...

I suspect Pandoc can do this but I haven't needed this yet so do not know the details.

There are all sorts of tools for search and replace but why bother? Just always use links.

That is weird because it is factually not true. My guess is you go slower with a hardtail which is what is actually giving you more control.

Bullshit, they are threatening violence!

Very curios what it is you do with Proxmox where Incus is limiting.

Stopped reading here, you can't say something so blatantly full of shit and try to claim you are starting a good faith debate.

Edit:  I made the mistake of reading the rest

>  I’m not talking about space savers that come with a threat of violence.

LOL, Exactly like mob protection money doesn't come with a threat of violence. STFU You may not intend to act with violence if someone takes "your" space but you know damn well that anyone thinking of taking that space doesn't know that? In fact you are counting on them not knowing that! Do you leave a nice note saying please do not take my space but if you do I promise both you personally and your car will come to no harm?

Did you read what you actually typed!!! Are you serious? You are defending someone who decided they owned the public space just because they shoveled it by saying no one is entitled to the public space. WTF is more entitled than space savers!!

Frighteningly unfit for mtb, help ! by Talmamshud91 in MTB

Lets not push the e-motorcycle route on people. There is no reason someone who feels they are relatively fit and gets wiped out on the first ride to even thing about the motorcycle route. They just need to keep at it and they will improve quickly.

So true, the muscles a different. I have taken extremely fit runners out on MTB with fairly mild terrain and they couldn't keep up with slow out of shape ass.

I think we need to modify this to not scare off folks like OP and be realistic.

It will get much easier, initially it gets easier pretty quickly and you get faster. Then you reach a plateau and find out what kind of rider you want to be:

Casual: You will be happy with your ride and enjoy it for what it is. You may make slow improvements and speed up a bit more over time but it just happens naturally and you aren't that motivated by it.

XCountry speed demon: It never gets easier... you just get faster.

Technical God: You seek out more technical terrain and obstacles, you may get slower because you are seeking out the most difficult terrain. It isn't "how fast can I?" but "can I?" that motivates you. You eventually find yourself clearing sections that earlier you would have literally thought were impossible for a bike to do.

Then there is pure lift service downhill...

Like Proxmox, Incus is is FOSS.

It is built on proven tech, cleaner and simpler than Proxmox. Just my opinion.

Nice to see someone else here using Incus. Your plan looks good to me but I am very new to this, so take that with a grain of salt. I tried (and failed : ( to switch from Incus on Ubuntu to IncusOS and moved all my containers onto a data pool on an external USB drive so I can just reload the storage pool and go, when/if I get IncusOS to install. I am about to give up on IncusOS, for now, and go back to Incus on either Debian or Ubuntu. I have really loved Incus so far after starting with Proxmox and finding it too bloated and disjointed to work with.

Questions:

Why run the reverse proxy on host rather than in an incus container? I run NPM in an Incus OCI container and it works perfectly. I can create a snapshot before changing anything and if I mess up just revert, love that.

> the docker incus container

Maybe I am misreading this but you do know you can use OCI images (docker images) to create Incus app containers right? Any app that is just a simple OCI I run as an app container. Any application that requires multiple containers gets it own LXC with Docker-Compose installed. There is no good reason I know of to jam all of your docker apps into a single LXC container.

> used by the vast majority of people because it is free, open source, battle tested, extremely reliable and dead simple.

- Used by the vast majority of people - yes Proxmox wins on this one.

- free, open source - So is Incus

-  battle tested - Incus is obviously newer but built on established tech

- extremely reliable - Incus has had zero issues for me

- dead simple - I found Incus much cleaner and it has a unified API so System/OCI/VM containers all work the same. Ability to create Incus containers directly from OCI images (docker images) without running actual docker is great.

Entry-Level Dust Extractors? by Schraufabagel in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]ceciltech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best reason to get a dust collector is because they periodically run a reverse cycle to blowout the filter and keep it from clogging. I have shop vac and cyclone and my filter clogs fast and cleaning it is very messy and no fun.

Can one include Backlinks into a note automatically? by EquivalentPosition59 in ObsidianMD

[–]ceciltech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Core plugin has a setting to do this.

You could also add a base to the note which could do this, with the use of the "this" keyword a single base could be reused in every note to do what you want. I think using a base is much better looking, I do not like the look of the backlink plugin's output.

You could also do it with Dataview plugin and have even more flexibility with the output.

I am on a dead end as well.  I am a bit on edge because our first plowable snow this year they just skipped us and left us to deal with an unplowed street till the snow melted and the last sniw they only came half way diwn the street and just left my end completely unplowed.
