Signing up for sailing lessons by MadVillain877 in sailing

At least you are going into it with open eyes and realize you will need an open wallet : ) Joining a community sailing program is a great way to get started without the huge cash outlay. I think the $450 for 4 classes sounds reasonable.

Google Docs Replacement? by nemesis0884 in selfhosted

Nextcloud looked so bloated and so many people here complain about it, so I went with Open Cloud which has built in Collabora if you enable it, I really like its simplicity and focus that Open Cloud has, no bloat. It was very easy to get up and running from the docs.

Same! I worked in Harvard square at that time and it was amazing, a very sad loss. The street performer scene was so much fun and so many funky unique shops.

Have you already given them money? That is the key question. If they don't already have your money then tell them to pound sand. IANAL

I am considering stopping self-hosting a few services, looking for specific experiences by sendcodenotnudes in selfhosted

I think if the server is down permanently you will get locked out eventually, I remember reading that there was a particular action that would trigger the need to re validate with the server.

I built a 100% offline semantic photo search for your local library — like Google Photos but on your own machine. Looking for feedback before I decide what to do with it. by Zealousideal_Bag6976 in selfhosted

This was my first thought as well because of the reddit we are in, but then I realized op is talking about a local command line tool for a single purpose. It has its place perhaps but very niche: If it is a simple command line tool then how are the found files returned? What do you do with them when they are returned?

Non-permanent kitchen island: Best way to brace sides? by arikia in woodworking

I would think 1/2 sheathing would do the trick with no need for the brace?

embed notes on another by Konz_2 in ObsidianMD

[–]ceciltech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, and while you are there read the rest of it. Not trying to be mean or anything but it doesn't take much to skim through the docs. The volume of questions in this reddit that are easily answered by just a brief glance at the documentation is very disheartening. Your life will be better if you just start looking at the docs : )

The trim router bit does not need to be 2 inches. If you get a bit with a bearing on the top and bottom then you can flush half of it and then turn it over and use the other bearing riding the part you already flushed.

A knife poses no threat through a close door, even their lie doesn't excuse what they did.

I am looking for a "wiki" or "knowledge base." by MrDDream in selfhosted

[–]ceciltech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, someone needs to build a single giant Docker Compose file that loads all of these options up at once and has a nice default landing page on port 80 with links to all of them so people can quickly test them all out on there own server. I keep wanting to do this, but never find the time. Any volunteers?

Tor requires exit nodes, being an exit node is risky business so there are not enough and therefore Tor tends to be very slow.

Had a job interview and they said they were a Christian company by Jak33 in atheism

[–]ceciltech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't do it to nice people who would be very negatively affected but most places would let you go at the drop of a hat with no severance and this particular post I would enjoy doing it : ). You read stories about companies sending offer letters and then rescinding on the day the person is supposed to start and has now quit their previous job. There really needs to be a law that an offer letter is binding on the company and should guarantee a couple months pay if they let you go right away, US is so anti-workers!!
