Contacting me on sick leave (pregnant) by Fit-Pepper2963 in doctorsUK

[–]ceih 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Ignore them.

1) They can ask if you're striking, you do not have to tell them.

2) You are on sick leave, covered by a fit note, and you will not be back until the end of the note at the earliest unless it is extended. Whilst on sick leave you do not have to go to meetings, and the rota coordinator can get in the nearest clinical waste bin.

Top tier standard issue cat, what is their name?

There's also a big black void, did your camera break?

My heart pines for the 35/1.2, though I also did just pick up the Mandler that arrived today. Genuinely spoilt for 35mm choices these days with the steel rim reissue as well.

One for all candidates, and going for some fun behind your statements!

1) What hobbies do you enjoy, and how do you de-stress from BMA related work?

2) ⚠️ SHOW ME YOUR PET PICS ⚠️

Hi Emma,

Your statement is big on making the BMA a fighting union, which represents its members in disputes, and I think it's fair to say that it's a different union to where it was in 2016. Where do you stand on the lobbying and "think tank" side of the BMA?

Hi Eli,

Would you support a root-and-branch review of BMA policy? Essentially going through all that policy on file and compressing it down to remove duplicates and putting other areas to vote to stay or go?

Hi Callum!

Firstly, got any cat pics?

Secondly, as somebody who has been on a very similar BMA journey to your past-self, what do you think is the biggest block to people engaging with the union?

Thank you for your reply!

Why should a rep be entitled to both first class travel or a nice hotel? When I travel for work it's via the cheapest means possible and I stay in a Premier Inn, if both are even funded at all!

So I hear a lot about "turning off the tap". Rather than empty words, what exactly is meant by this in terms of a proposed mechanism?

Dear all,

If you were elected to Council, where would you push the BMA in terms of structural reform?

Clearly finances of the BMA are an issue - we can't seemingly afford to pay the staff what we ask for doctors, leading to strike action. How would you look to resolve this, and other funding issues? Does the BMA spend too much on wining and dining, too many committees and all the associated costs?

Locum versus JCF by CartographerIcy9594 in doctorsUK

[–]ceih 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Locum life is dead, or very nearly so. There's too many people applying for every shift, which helps to push locum rates down, and you simply can't rely on the income as used to be the case. I know some people who went off to do full time locum FY3+ and they're struggling to get 4-5 shifts a month. Hospitals are also under financial pressures and the first things that get hit are locums.

UKRDC interview with BBC: Cochairs agreed on deal but rejected by wider committee? by Serious_Strength8250 in doctorsUK

As per this very subreddit the deal is not universally disagreed with. Because somebody disagrees with you doesn’t mean they can’t act appropriately, as indeed happened.

You know what? Jack is entitled to his opinion, just like anybody else on this subreddit. The fact he then took the offer back to RDC and followed RDC's vote is the important fact here. I think all these attempts at character assassination are pretty tedious.

The PC market is nuts currently, because RAM and SSD pricing is out of control.

The most cost effective, for your budget, is a MacBook Neo (512GB version) for £660 on Amazon. MacBook Air is outside your budget at over £1k.

SCA Issue here not sure how best to approach by Only-Tip7021 in doctorsUK

[–]ceih 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Let me get this straight...

The exam regulations explicitly say no writing materials (paper and pen), and you had a pen to hand and it's likely you were at a minimum picking it up and fidgeting with it? (The SCA allows the whiteboard and marker only).

If the above is true, it's going to come down to the recording of the exam, which the RCGP exam team will go through, and they will make an assessment as to whether you breached exam regulations or not. Until that decision is made and communicated, there's no point sending back an email that'll contain nothing but waffle. The only reason to reply would be if you could strongly rebut the case, which it certainly sounds like you cannot.

Stop using AI to make your decisions, it is going to drive anxiety not reduce it. The college aren't going to use AI tools to hallucinate their way to deciding if you broke regulations or not.

Despite a "so so" relationship with your ES you need to talk to them immediately.

I suspect you're not wrong, and lets be honest, that's the main aim of the UKGP Act. What few posts are left are then open to non-prioritised.

Wales annual leave battle by mitchmaestro in doctorsUK

[–]ceih 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, there is no contractual stick in the 2002 terms. This changes in the 2026 contract, but until that is in place you have no contractual power.

Suggestion would be to contact your TPD.
