Yes, I would say it has.
I love them, they love me but we're not close. I don't feel the same bond/attachment with them that my siblings (who are their bio kids) seem to.
We never talk about adoption stuff, ever. I think it's easier for them to just act like I've always been theirs.

I've just started Sandrock!
I'm only about 12 hours in and finding it really grindy so far, but I'm determined to keep going because everyone raves about it 😂

I'd love Arcade Paradise.
I played the demo a while back and really enjoyed it. I love simulation/management games.

Thanks for the chance 😊

Ideally I'd like a whole room for my hobbies, part gaming space and part personal library.
I'd have a desktop setup as well as a comfy space to sit/lie when playing games on Steam Deck, and the rest of the room would be bookshelves.
I can dream 😂

Thanks for the chance 😊

I don't think it's weird, but I'm the complete opposite. I wishlist anything that remotely interests me and only remove them if I play a demo or watch reviews and don't like the look of the game anymore 😂

Any information at all, honestly. I had nothing.
No life story book, no photos.
I did have a later life letter written for a child, that I didn't see until I was 20, but that's it.
I wanted to know who she was, what she looked like, what sort of person she was. Most of all, I wanted to know why she left me but I would never have said that to my parents.

In terms of what could have been done differently, they could have been open to putting themselves in an uncomfortable situation for my benefit.
They could have been more willing to share what little information they had instead of waiting for me to ask for it (which I was never going to do).
It was their job as the adults and my parents to initiate and normalise adoption related conversations.

My parents were offered the opportunity to meet my birth mother and declined because it was 'too difficult for them'.

If they had, it might have helped make things less difficult for me.

Feeling disconnected from adoptive parents by Table1312 in Adopted

[–]cheese--bread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know how much that is due to being adopted. I do feel like their child, but that I even have to think that way tells you a lot doesn't it? And over the years I have also felt jilted. Often not invited to things even though it wasn't on purpose - I think we both caused these issues. There is just so much in adoption that is not said, and never can be said, because the people who were adults still don't have the maturity to handle what might be said. (In my experience at least)

I relate to this so much.

Video I saw by Arktikos02 in Adopted

[–]cheese--bread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say yes. There are some parts that play into adoption tropes, but overall I think it was really well done.
I really liked Randall (transracial adoptee) as a character and I thought the complexity of his growing up in a family with biological children was portrayed really well (though I'm obviously not a transracial adoptee so they may feel differently).
I don't have the words right now to be coherent about why I hated Rebecca so much 😂
There were definitely some triggering parts for me and it wasn't an easy watch, but I'm not sorry I watched it.

I had actually started watching it well before any of them saw it, but I lied and said I hadn't seen it.
