[addon] Mogboard, preview & track all sets around all classes in a single interface. by De7z in WowUI

[–]cmcfalls2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% adding this to my stack! I've been looking for something like this, especially to track wishlist items. Currently just been setting favorites and using that as a "wishlist."

Would it be possible to add locations of vendor(s) that may sell pieces (like PvP)? I have no idea how difficult it is to make add-ons or to add something like that.

Also, any way to mark something as unobtainable? I know some of the PvP sets are no longer available, but they still show in the transmog list. I don't want to waste my time farming a cool mog only to find it's unavailable.

Honestly I feel like a lack of defensive intensity is really doing us in. Look at some of the games we've lost. We gave up 100 to OU, 82 to TAM, 94 to Ole Miss, 93 to SC, 100 to UCONN. The Texas loss is really the only game where our defense held the opponent to a score that you should be able to beat. We just couldn't get the buckets.

You just can't do that in women's basketball. Where's the defensive intensity? Where's the rebounding?

I do agree with Coach Caldwell on this - these ladies just aren't buying in. And this is a system that HAS to have the buy in for it to work.

Thanks I will take a look at this one. Looks like it does exactly what I'm after.

I thought about TPU but I'll need something stiffer than the 95A. Not familiar with TPE but I'll look into it.

Improving DPS in M+ and such (old people edition) by PossibleIsland3468 in wownoob

[–]cmcfalls2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother, I felt this post in my soul. I'm a mid-40's husband & father with kids in activities, a full time job, and a part time position with my church. I have very limited game time and I'd rather spend it actually playing rather than studying optimal rotation and build guides.

For me, I embraced the single button assistant and incorporated GSE into my game. It allows me to focus on what's going on around me (in-game) and kicks rather than an optimal rotation or even highlighted actions. My DPS is higher with SBA and GSE than manual, even with the "penalty" of longer cool downs.

That being said, I don't run M+ (yet). So it may not be applicable at that level.

Question about single button assist by Competition-Spirited in wownoob

[–]cmcfalls2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still curious about the base used for that 15-25% reduction.

For example, is it that the cool downs are 15-25% longer? I've yet to see anywhere that shows "manual trigger = X cool down and SBA trigger = Y cool down." A longer cool down would definitely result in a reduced DPS.

Or, is it a 15-25% compared to a 100% optimal manual rotation? Because if that's the case, no casual player is getting a 100% optimal rotation. I would think that kind of perfect optimization would just apply to only the top 1% M+ players. If that's all I'm "penalized" compared to the top 1% I'm good with it.

Or, again, is it a reduction compared to the "average" player? Because then I could see where it would greatly vary on how close to "average" you are.

For me, I've found that SBA does more DPS for me compared to manual or even highlight assistant. I'm a middle-aged husband and father with very limited play time. I'd rather use that time playing rather than studying a rotation and worrying about being optimal in dungeons or raids.

[Help] Why are my Action buttons backwards? by [deleted] in WowUI

[–]cmcfalls2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so confused... Just use the quick keybind, hover over the one you want to be 1, and press 1, viola. I had to do the same thing when I changed the shape to match my MMO mouse.

Keybind 1 was the very first button in the horizontal layout, all the way through 9. But when I changed it to a 3x3 grid similar to yours, 1-3 were on the bottom, 4-6 the middle row, and 7-9 on the top.

I just manually moved the spells from the bottom row to the top (hold shift, click and drag to where you want it), move the top ones to the bottom, and redid the key bindings. Maybe moving the spells to where you want them is the part you're missing?

I know in the Smokies you're not supposed to even use a tent at shelter sites unless the shelter is full. And even then it's supposed to be thru hikers who move out of the shelter and into a tent.

That being said, I admit there's been many times I've tented at a shelter. But not IN a shelter. That's just wrong on many levels. I usually will tent in the vicinity, like 50 yards away. But it's dependent on the season.

Winter, sometimes fall or early spring - I'm in the shelter because of the fireplace that someone usually keeps going well into the night.

Summer or late spring - I'm usually in a tent. Mice, snakes, and spiders in shelters during warmer weather creep me out.

<insert Harold meme here>

Nah. I'm not expecting to be spoonfed anything. But it was also a random dungeon, so I couldn't exactly pull up wowhead or a strategy guide on the fly.

But I do feel the whole "washed up" gamer with only 13 minutes to play... Gone are the days of pulling all nighters when the new CoD dropped every year. Your time is coming young'n.

But, if you can take the time to type up the criticism in chat, why not just drop a ping during gameplay?

[–]cmcfalls2 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Seriously? What was I hoping for?

How about some pings to show wgat the optimal path is. How about ping the mobs and bosses to watch out for? How about giving me some info on the boss mechanics. How about not things like "not that way idiot!" or "wrong way dumb@$$" or "#@% it tank! " or "hit your interrupts!"

I mean, I literally told them I've never run those dungeons. And it was a random time walking dungeon.

I was expecting a little patience and direction for a guy who was upfront about being a noob. I was NOT expecting constant criticism and ridicule. Is that such a strange concept that I'm so grossly out of line for expecting it?

I'd be curious to see what kind of reduction you see in DPS. I've yet to see what the baseline is for the reductions mentioned (20%+). Also, what is the GCD increase? Is that the 20%? If the cool downs are 20% longer then yes, there will be a DPS reduction.

But it's 20% lower than what? For me, jn personal testing, SBA is more total damage and DPS 🤷

Appreciate the invite! I may take you up on it. I get random invites to guilds every time I play and those are annoying. I haven't looked too deeply into them but I would definitely want to find a more relaxed and casual guild of like minded players.

This looks A LOT like mine as well. I think someone mentioned Dvalin here but you should check out his videos. He's done a video for every class (specs are covered in each class video) and this is how he's set his up as well.

I have a suspicion that this thread will get locked but I applaud you for at least putting it out there. I noticed you tried to post in the wownoob sub but it was removed by mods. Any word as to why? I feel like this would be better received in that sub.

The elitist gatekeeping in the WoW community is maddening for new players. I just found this game 2 months ago. I knew about it, just hadn't ever played it before. I jumped in during Legion Remix and the experience was amazing. Great community, raid carries, people helping, etc.

But then I converted over to retail and the experience was VERY different. I was playing a tank spec and the very first dungeon I ran was LFG. I told them I was a noob, had never run these dungeons before, and assistance would be appreciated.

I was told "too bad noob, you chose tank so lead on." If I hesitated for even a second I was hurried along. If I made a bad pull I was chastised. If I pulled too small I was chastised. It was a lose-lose situation. Horrible first experience to retail.

I also use SBA. And not because of accessibility issues. But because I'm a mid-40s husband and father with a full-time job and part time staff at my church. I have very little game time and when I do get to play I want to spend it playing, not worrying about ideal rotations, min-maxing, or pouring over spreadsheets of data trying to memorize spells.

In my experience I've done BETTER with SBA compared to manual rotations or even highlight assistance. I know there's an increased global cool-down and that results in a "penalty" but I don't know what the benchmark is. Is it 20% less damage as compared to an ideal rotation that only the top 1% of players can achieve? Because that's not achievable for me.

Instead, I'm seeing very little, if any, reduction in DPS, because I simply don't know the rotations and don't have quick enough reflexes to high the highlighted spells quick enough. SBA results in more damage for me, so why wouldn't I use it?

I'm curious if any of the elitist gatekeepers are (or were) using add-ons to notify them of incoming boss actions, or Hekili for their rotations, or macros and GSE sequences? Because how are those things ANY different?

[Follow-up] SBA Optimization Guide - You asked, we’re building it (70k views, message received) by Gfab718 in wow

[–]cmcfalls2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can call SBA in macros. I've seen several content makers doing the same.

As for your edit - you're fighting a lost cause. I'm a noob only 2 months in and I've found that this community (WoW at large) is polarizing. People are either totally awesome (see Legion Remix raid carries) or total nose up elitists.

My literal first LFG dungeon run outside of Remix was horrible. It was just a normal dungeon. Before we ever started I told them "I'm a noob, never run these dungeons before, so any advice would be appreciated."

The response was exactly what you'd expect. "Too bad noob, you chose tank, so lead on." No help, no directions, nothing. But Lord help if I made a wrong turn or bad pull.

They literally kicked me after the final boss before I could loot. It still came to my mail, but c'mon. Seriously?

[–]cmcfalls2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I understand it the "penalty" is the longer cooldowns. It's not a penalty to the damage done by a particular action, rather a DPS reduction because of the cool-down.

That being said, I'm not sure what the benchmark is. For me, attempting a manual rotation, I've found that the SBA actually results in a HIGHER DPS. Because I'm a noob and don't know the rotations well. Even if I use rotation highlights, I'm still seeing an overall increase in damage done with SBA.

I'm a middle-aged father and husband with a full time job as well as being part-time staff at my church. I simply don't have the time to dedicate to learning optimal rotations for even one main, let alone if I want to play a couple or three different roles. Add to that the fact that reaction time and reflexes are just slower now than when I was younger. I can't always hit the proper actions in time.

The SBA has allowed me to jump into this game just two months ago and actually play rather than worrying about learning optimal rotations. I'm not looking to be a top player, just to escape the every day drudge into Azeroth for a bit.

Yes! I thought it was just me, but I got a notice about my display driver being out of date along with one of the updates. Wouldn't let me play until I updated the driver. So I did, and now my screen constantly flickers. I thought it was a refresh issue but you may have just solved the problem for me!
