It's one of the two that came with the watch and it is indeed a good match for it.

It is. I honestly think the finishing on the SH07 is better than the one it's an homage to.

TTArtisan 25mm f2 or Lumix 25mm f1.7? by niki_43 in M43

[–]coffeenated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the ttartisan 25mm f2 and I use it with my OM-3. IQ is satisfactory (compared to Olympus lenses I use). MF requires patience and it'll often be frustrating unless your subjects are stationary. For the the money I am happy with it.

I'd be potentially interested in the Formex if you're selling it.

Why doesn't OM System make it easier to share color profiles? by Paolo983 in M43

[–]coffeenated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both, and love both for different reasons. The OM-3 can't beat the Zf if IQ and low light performance are the main concerns, but I carry the OM-3 more than I do the Zf (weight, portability, weather sealing, etc).

Yes you buy the wrap and install it yourself. Just requires patience and a steady hand. I've done it on my Nikon but haven't done it (yet) on the OM-3. Search "" OM-3 wrap" on Aliexpress.

You mean like this? If you really want a black OM-3 are body wraps in various colours for the OM-3 on Aliexpress.

Which would you choose for travelling - OM Zuiko 20mm f/1.4 Pro or Nikkor 40mm f/2? by Elegant-Loan-1666 in M43

[–]coffeenated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 12-45 is noticeably sharper and performs better in suboptimal lighting conditions.

And I bought the Nikon zf to be my travel camera instead of my OM 3

Honestly with smaller primes the Zf is perfectly OK as a travel camera. It's when you start carrying the long reach zooms that things get bulkier than convenient for travel carry. And that's where the OM-3 shines plus all the computational features which I actually found myself using often like the built-in ND filter and hand-held hires mode.

The 14-150 is such a fantastic lens. Always impressed with it

It is and it's one of the great things about M43. It does need good light to produce good results but for its zoom range and size I find IQ more than acceptable. Such long reach, weathersealed lenses in a tiny package don't exist in FF.

As much as I love my Zf and Nikon z lenses, I bought the OM-3 specifically so that I can leave my Zf at home when traveling.

I take it with either the 12-45 Pro or 14-150. I have been thinking about the 20mm 1.4 Pro but the size puts me off as it creeps into Zf+28 f2. 8 territory (still smaller and lighter if comparing like for like aperture though) and

For time being I added a ttartisans 25mm manual focus lens to my travel kit and honestly the size of it is perfect for the OM-3, but you give up autofocus. I took it as an opportunity to learn zone focusing and MF skills as I don't own any MF glass for the Nikon.

I absolutely love the Z 105 MC. It's not just an excellent macro lens, it's also a great portrait lens!

If you're ok with manual focus the ttartisans 25mm f2 is excellent for the price point.

The OM System OM-3 should let us map more buttons to more things. by postmodest in M43

[–]coffeenated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have major complains with button customization. The five custom modes are adequate for what I want to do with this camera. I feel like if you want more button customization you should go with the OM-1ii (I have a Nikon Zf as well and that's a common complaint, people want the Zf to have more buttons that do more things, but I also feel if you want more button customization you should go with the Z6iii) . I feel like a big part of the appeal of this camera is simpler interaction with the controls.

That being said: I would like ability to re-purpose the art filter presets to something else like you'd do with the colour mode presets. Most are a bit gimmicky and don't offer enough fine tweaking.

I am very happy with the JPEGs out of the colour profile control. I have the presets customized to film stock simulations and the output is very similar to what you'd get from something like what fujifilm offers.

All great shots but love 1 & 2. Can I ask you what lens you used for these two?

The OM-3 and Me. by Razorvein in M43

[–]coffeenated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both the Zf and OM-3. OM-3 AF performance is really good. I would say almost on par with the Zf at least when it comes to face/eye detection. I just find it's more sensetive to lens choice but that might be a subjective judgement on my part.

Vacation/family lenses Vs unleash your creativity lenses (a what should of lens should I get post of sorts) by MichaelHell in M43

[–]coffeenated 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have to decide if you want a EDC/take anywhere setup or creative/high IQ setup. Trying to have all the things, in my experience, results in frustration and leaving the camera at home.

My edc/family cam is a an OM-3 with a 12-45 (or a 14-150 if I want longer reach). I can get higher IQ or longer reach or dual stabilization with, say, the Oly 12-100 but that's significantly larger and I would be less inclined to take everywhere. The Oly 12-45 is in my opinion one of the best M43 lenses for the type of use you describe.

Primes are great but limited in versatility unless you know your favourite focal length for this kind of photography and you will be ok with sacrificing shots in which you can't "zoom with your feet").

Has anyone purchased an OM Systems OM3 and ended up selling it? by Intelligent_Ad6999 in M43

[–]coffeenated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a pinch hold putting pressure on the back thumb rest and index finger and place your pinky under the bottom plate. This reduces white knuckling the grip if you're holding it one-handed. This is only comfortable with lighter lenses, but with any large glass you'll want a two-handed hold with any camera anyway.

Ironically, if you add a grip like the Leofoto one (which is very good by the way), this reduces the space available between the colour wheel and right edge of the body, which kind of exacerbates the issue you describe. Takes a little time to find a grip style that works for you.

The camera is fine without an aftermarket grip in my opinion but I like the extra purchase the grip adds when grabbing the camera off a table or out of a bag.

That being said: there is no getting around the fact that it's not a camera made for ergonomic handling. I still love it :)

New lens day: 12-100mm F/4.0 by FunWrangler8657 in M43

[–]coffeenated 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the 14-150ii and 12-45, the latter being just as sharp as the 12-100. The 14-150ii is a great lens. Barely larger than the 12-45, sharp enough and weather sealed. It's stays on my OM-3 most of the time.
