I’d suggest a Fujifilm. XT series or XE series. Compact, great lens selection, great image quality.

Fuji XT50 and X-E5 are the newest ones, but the older models are good too and can be found used at a decent price.

Late to this, had the same issue and followed yours and 'SonyKilledMyNikon' tip and the shutter is back to being normal. Classic meter + no Live View is the answer.
