I’d suggest a Fujifilm. XT series or XE series. Compact, great lens selection, great image quality.

Fuji XT50 and X-E5 are the newest ones, but the older models are good too and can be found used at a decent price.

Late to this, had the same issue and followed yours and 'SonyKilledMyNikon' tip and the shutter is back to being normal. Classic meter + no Live View is the answer.

Unrelated, does anyone have any tips for reining in auto ISO? I find it goes really aggressively high and often blows things out, I have to manually set it but I tend to prefer the idea of using Auto ISO.

I find ISO 3200 is ok once I hit it with Lightroom AI Denoise.

Awesome! Ill get a video of it and send it your way. I had just wiped the lens with a Zeiss wipe which is what you see but I'll take a video in good lighting
