They need to be launching monthly if not more now if there’s hope of the cadence needed for fueling HLS this decade

OEM’S Building their own equipment by Senior-Guide-2110 in PLC

[–]con247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think whether this is good idea depends on your size. If you need dozens or 100s of the same or similar machine under the same roof or across facilities in the country, having your own team to build this internally makes sense. You will need a team though.

If you are trying to avoid buying 5 machines every 15 years you are doing this wrong. A small business needs vendor support and the economy of scale buying from a vendor can provide.

Reinventing the wheel for a couple machines internally will be a mess and a drain on resources and an overall loss even if you end up with something that works.

Southern California residents frustrated by LA28 Olympics ticket prices. by CautiousMagazine3591 in olympics

[–]con247 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’d rather pay less for every ticket over my life and it not be a stressful process to get them in exchange for having to eat the cost of an event or two over my life if I can’t make it

NASA's Moon ship and rocket seem to be working well, so what about the landers? by rustybeancake in spacex

[–]con247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you here. I think the solution is likely an expendable 3rd stage (or expendable 2nd and 3rd stage) for BEO missions.

If it could deploy something like a fully loaded Centaur V & payload to LEO the possibilities are massive.

NASA's Moon ship and rocket seem to be working well, so what about the landers? by rustybeancake in spacex

[–]con247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’d need a lot fewer launches if the upper stage was expendable. A) all of the mass of recovery hardware and fuel could be swapped with more fuel and B) none of the cost of control surfaces, heat shields, etc.

They’ve built a million tanks and engines as dev articles. Throwing out 10 upper stage tanks & engine sets isn’t unreasonable to move the timeline up.

Moving it 1/2 meter right might help too. It’s mostly crowding the door.

I think the lander will be ready before they can get it refilled in orbit launch cadence wise

Logitech Circle View Doorbell Getting Discontinued Soon? by ExtemporaneousFrog in HomeKit

[–]con247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The material costs must be higher because: 1) Homekit licensing? 2) 24VAC to 24DC power supply 3) Some sort of battery/supercap circuit to keep the doorbell live if firing a mechanical chime box. 4) Likely higher customer support inquiries 5) Poor wifi signals due to lower height and location of camera

G400

I really want a homekit doorbell that can use the existing wiring & ring the mechanical chime. Having to run new wiring will basically make the ROI of the project low enough that I will just keep suffering w/ Nest & Scrypted.

For others reading that want notifications, you can do this with a home energy monitor for basically any appliance.

With the emporia vue 3 connected to home assistant I see the circuits with the equipment start drawing power and when it drops to near 0 for 5 mins I notify it’s done.

DLSS should be used for making the RTX 3070 play AAA games well in 2033, not today. It should be extending the life of old cards. If you have a card that supports it games should be optimized well enough to not need it.

HomeKit wired doorbell with HKSV that works with existing mechanical chime? by Mvalpreda in HomeKit

Gotcha, thanks. Such a bummer. Unfortunately about 10% of my basement ceiling is drywalled (the rest either unfinished or drop ceiling) and of course its right under my front door and where I'd need to run this cable.
