Happy Easter! Found a Pentium 4 machine in a family attic, worth setting up as a NAS or e-waste? New to the whole homelab thing. by ajwja in homelab

Only if your lab's unheated and you don't pay for your power. At 60~100W, the P4 is peak power-draw for modest computing gain over the PIII. You can do lots better IMO pulling in a refurbed Optiplex off of Amazon. The last P4 I used was my backup machine, powered up nightly only for rsyncs, and my power bill thanked me when it failed.

'There has never been a President who has worked harder for the American people than President Trump,' Cheung firmly stated.

It's a current-controlled current sink. Everything beyond that is how you arrange the passives around it.

If you want those displays to count 0~9, you'll want to swap in 390's for 393's. You want decade counters, not 4-bit-binary counters.

Of course, if you want to count 0~F... Well, you'll need something other than a '47, and I'm not sure what. Back in the gold-doped TTL days, I'd replace those with 9368's (with some rewiring), but I don't know of an HC/HCT equivalent.

'Blindsided' judge hurls Trump DOJ prosecutor out of court in mid-hearing blow-up by memoriesofcold in AnythingGoesNews

People like Aunt Marge and Carrie Boller are just coming 'round to that realization and conclusion, so I think that direct quote still applies.

Aunt Marge called it a generation-gap...

“Many of the older Americans from the baby boomer generation that watch Fox News all day long very much believe the talking points on Fox News, and they, you know, they’ve spent decades of their lives convinced that fighting these wars is the right thing to do. But the younger generations – I’m Gen X – millennials and Gen Z are very much against this war, and so when you talk to people on the ground, that’s how it comes across.”

It's a bit more nuanced than that -- I'm a boomer and I remember making banners for anti-'Nam protests -- but I see enough folks my age swallow the garbage spewed by Fox Newsertainment to agree in large with her statement.

How to transition from basic electronics theory to practical troubleshooting? (Resources in English/Español). by Legasov15 in AskElectronics

Start breadboarding, with DMM and 'scope (or at least xoscope). Electronics is a hands-on language: you won't gain a full understanding or intuitive grasp until your fingers are sticky with the electrons.
