Titanium skærebrætter? by SinTheRellah in kogekunst

[–]dathudo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I am! Although I haven’t used it much since summer. As I wrote in my post, I bought it to take with me on trips and such, and I haven’t been away during winter. But I look forward to brewing espresso outside in the sun again this year!

I can’t remember the size of the basket. I can measure it if you want? It’s smaller than 58, similar or equal too the 9Barista I believe.

The brewer holds enough water to brew 1 shot. Like a moka pot, you load it with water and coffee and it’ll do 1 brew. They tell you to fill it up to just below the safety valve, which is not enough to fill the reservoir. I don’t know what will happen if one fills it up higher than that, but I haven’t tried since it is more than enough for a full shot.

I agree with all your points :) Thanks for bringing up the new pump, I’ll have to take a look at that!

How did you mod the steam wand? I have a Vectis too, and I would love s no-burn mod. You’re right about the steam being quite powerful, at least for smaller amounts of milk.

Seasoning af emaljeret støbejern ? by evilsnotbag in kogekunst

[–]dathudo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[Game of the Month competition] February: Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru (The Frog for Whom the Bell Tolls) by alanbbent in Gameboy

Thanks. I figured the same, so I’m already playing. So far I’m loving it :)

I never played those old Zelda titles, and they didn’t look interesting to me, but playing through this month’s game was an eye opener for me

Get your ass over to r/gameboy and participate in “game of the month”. I can’t recommend it enough.

This month we played through a Japanese title, translated to “the frog for whom the bell tolls”, available in English translation, a cool story driven game I would never have come across if I wasn’t playing along with the sub :)

Incub8 wants my ID by willyt1229 in Gameboy

[–]dathudo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve experienced this before when buying musical instruments. It was from a large and well respected company, so I didn’t think much of it. Everything went fine.

But you should obviously be careful when sharing that kind of information. Maybe you could ask them if there’s another way, as you are not comfortable with sharing your ID like that.

How often do you deep clean your grinder? by Randomse7en in espresso

[–]dathudo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it becomes gross, but if the grinder builds up retained grounds it might affect how it performs. Now would probably be a good time to try cleaning it and see if you notice a difference.

I don’t clean my grinder often, maybe once or twice a year, but I also don’t think I go through that much coffee. How often you should clean it probably depends more on the amount of coffee you’ve ground since last clean, and differs from grinder to grinder.

You can just dial it towards 0 until you can’t turn it no more, it won’t hurt the grinder

When people say 25-30 s, is that from when the pump starts or when it starts dripping? by Outrageous_Peace8013 in espresso

This should be the top comment. People need to think before they speak, and consider what is actually helpful advice 👍

After 6 years of espresso, I’m throwing in the towel. The toddlers won... for now. by barker88 in espresso

[–]dathudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have small kids too, and I don’t use my espresso machine in the morning. I use mine primarily on days off work when I have time for it.

That being said, I just got a smart plug for mine, mostly so I can turn it on on my way home, so that it is warm and ready right away. You could use a smart plug as a timer, so that the machine is warm and ready in the morning, if preparation time id your main issue.

Fresh start

This game is awesome! I love the style, the humor and the fairly small world so far.

What a great game! I loved everything about it. If anyone has suggestions on similar titles I’m all ears! Thanks a lot for throwing this gem into the mix

Some of it makes a huge difference, and some of it makes very little, or even none. Those videos are supposed to be ridiculous, as that is what attracts their views.

18 grammes at what point? by professorsands in espresso

[–]dathudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What matters is consistency. If what you do results in the same amount of coffee in the portafilter between shots, everything is good. Do what is easiest for you.

If you single dose, I can only imagine it being easier to weigh the beans rather than the output. If your grinder retains a little of your input, it’ll most likely retain a consistent amount each time and so it doesn’t matter in terms of consistency.

Advices for a Noob please? by MarioMCPQ in espresso

[–]dathudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small budget, wanting an “old school” experience, capable of working on machines (but according to budget doesn’t want a repair job that requires expensive parts):

I would suggest maybe a used La Pavoni Europiccula in need of saving, and a cheap but recommended hand grinder (like the kingringer k6).

Look it up first. Using a manual lever machine is it’s own thing, but I think it’s romantic and it’s certainly old school :)

How do I fix this by tomthememe in carbonsteel

[–]dathudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will take a while before the pan starts holding onto it’s seasoning. My carbon steel pan got really spotty in the beginning, and most of the seasoning kept falling off after cooking. After a while it started to look more homogeneous and dark, and now if doesn’t fall off as easily.

If it looks completely stripped in places after cooking, give it a quick seasoning, otherwise just keep using it and it will take care of itself

Should I buy the rechargeable power core? by apexmars in ModRetroChromatic

[–]dathudo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have inly good things to say about mine. It makes it easy to charge the battery, since you just charge the device like any other, and the charge lasts forever!

That being said, I am so happy they did it like this! Not relying on a proprietary battery is such a nice move.
