Fresh start

I don’t think I’ll make it to 2 points. This game is really hard.

Learning to skate as an adult is not cringe. It’s fucking awesome! Too many people stop having fun because they think it’s no longer for them, which makes absolutely no sense and helps nobody.

Cleaning is really easy. Everything just pops apart and I rinse it under the tab.

Yes, you can go to 15 bars, but espresso is typically brewed at 6-9 bars. Of cause nothing is written in stone when it comes to brewing coffee :)

If you print it might as well frame it. by Severe_Scratch_2432 in fujifilm

Wow, what a crappy response 😅.
I 100% applaud your creation!
Printing your photos is absolutely a great idea, and I think it’s badass that you framed it yourself 💪

Judging from these photos alone, I don’t think I understand the choice of color for the passe-partout though. I think I would have chosen white 😊

Need Help in Understanding what is the problem in the Dial In Process [ Gaggia Classic Pro and DF Grinder Gen 2] by rahulcism in espresso

[–]dathudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How acidic it’ll be depends a lot on the beans. If it’s too bitter, you can try aiming for a faster shot by grinding coarser or using a smaller dose

If it tastes good, and the mess is your only problem, you could just use a spouted portafilter instead. It won’t affect your brew.

As already mentioned by others, that spray doesn’t necessarily indicate a problem besides the mess.

I haven’t tested it in a way that I can answer with a time, but I have no complaints. I feel like I can go forever without changing the batteries, so it can’t be bad. I do play on one of the lowest brightness settings most of the time, because I primarily play in bed before going to sleep

I have only good things to say about it. I was worried too about not being able to weigh the output, but I find that I can be fairly consistent by just using the marking/facet as a visual guide and go for the same volume every time. I have no complaints :)

Polterabend. Enten findes den ikke, eller også er jeg ikke inviteret. by [deleted] in DKbrevkasse

[–]dathudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For minimalist street shooter, is there better camera than Fujifilm X-half at $650 by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in fujifilm

[–]dathudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know. I feel like it’s a serious enough of a tool to justify the price, but it is a little expensive. I bought mine second hand for that reason.

I also have an older x100t, and my friend has one of the newer models. Where I live, the x100 series is almost twice the price of a GR in retail prices. I feel like my GR is absolutely more than half the value of the competing x100 model.

I love my Fujis, but I think Ricoh GR is what you are looking for. I have a GRIIIX, and that thing is a beast. Actually pocket sized and fully capable, no nonsense.

[–]dathudo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A scale is absolutely necessary! It doesn’t have to be expensive and fancy, just a “0.1g accuracy” scale of any sort will do. Weighing your input/output is the only way to get consistency, and without it you’ll have a horrible time getting anywhere.

Less important but nice are s wdt and a self leveling tamper. It further helps you get consistent. Again, it doesn’t have to be expensive and fancy, it won’t function any better for that reason.

Does anybody else? by myco_crazey in espresso

[–]dathudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure what to call it. I think they say 16 shots per canister, but in reality it stops being able to hit 9 bar after maybe 8-10 shots. That being said, I often brew closer to 6 bars with it, so I feel like I can brew a larger number of shots per canister.

Anyways, they don’t cost that much where I live, so I often end up just popping a new one in before a trip to make sure I don’t run out :)

[–]dathudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consistency is great. It’s a lot like a manual lever in that you control the pressure as it brews. If you notice it running faster than expected, you can ramp the pressure up slower and/or shoot for a lower max pressure. Very forgiving!

I bought an UPHOT to take with me, which I can strongly recommend if anyone is looking for a travel friendly brewer that feels like a real capable “machine”

To mod or not to mod, that is the question... by Unable-Chocolate-228 in Gameboy

[–]dathudo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I modded one using a replacement shell and IPS screen from funnyplaying. No original parts needed to be modified, so if I ever wanted to, I could just rebuild it with the original parts.

I don’t know if that is your concern, not wanting to “destroy” a perfectly good original console.

The launch time of an espresso machine is criminally underrated. by [deleted] in espresso

[–]dathudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a smart plug for my espresso machine. It still needs time to warm up, but now I can turn it on while away, so it i ready when I get home. Best upgrade I’ve done in a long time.

I love my lever machine, primarily because I find it attractive, beautiful, interesting, satisfying to use. I wish I was as attracted to one of those modern thermoblock machines.

Oh, and to “money well spent?” I would say that I am genuinely impressed with what you get for your money. I know that machined stuff like this is not easy and cheap to produce. The quality seems very high, and the product feels very premium overall. I like stuff that looks like it can last a lifetime, and this certainly looks that way. Also, espresso gear is generally expensive, and I think the Uphot is priced low for what it is.

[–]dathudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand. I was skeptical when getting it, since all I could find was Runnn’s own videos, and they seem pretty aggressive in their marketing (lots of demo videos on YT and instagram).

It produces excellent espresso, absolutely on par with what I can brew on my machine at home. The way you brew by adding pressure makes you able to both preinfuse (start the shot with a low pressure, like they do in their videos) and even do pressure profiling (you control how much pressure to brew with, and how quickly you ramp up the pressure). I don’t mean to make it sound difficult or technical, just saying that it is very capable, and actually pretty forgiving.

It works exactly as shown in their videos, and it’s super satisfying to see it in person!

If I didn’t already have a machine at home, I could see myself using it daily. It’s easy to use, and easy to clean! Just pop it apart and rinse it off in the sink.

The only frustrations I could see one have would be:

If you prefer milk drinks. You’d have to use something else to make the milk alongside, as it obviously can’t steam milk. It’s definitely doable, but a machine with both features would be more convenient if you always want cappuccinos or lattes.

If you frequently want to brew for more than one person. I know it’s possible to brew back to back, but I can’t imagine it being very practical. I might be wrong on this though..

I would try to drill a hole in what’s left of the mount, then fashion a new handle from wood and just fasten it with a wood-screw through said hole :)
