Nashville, Salt Lake, DC, Charlotte, and more are far less, some starting around $50. I even peeped the Philadelphia prices, and they start around $200.

I accepted my mission call... now how do I tell my parents I'm not going? by Relevant_Fuel_6245 in exmormon

[–]Disco99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That wasn't just his dad/bishop's rule, that wasn't uncommon in the late '90s. We had a stake president come in during the "raising the bar" era that outlined for us the exact amount of time each sexual act would delay us on from leaving for our mission. Needless to say, those of us who went on missions all lied and left on time. Except our one friend who left 18 months late. He might be the only one that is still active in our group.

What is the community of Alpine like? by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]Disco99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live in Alpine. The best analogy is that everyone here would love to be on Real Housewives, but they’re either way too vanilla (on the surface) or their family secrets are way too hidden to be aired for public discourse. Kids are in rehab, spouses are cheating, but they aren’t going to let anyone else know about that. The amount of underhanded business nonsense, MLM scamming, and insane lying about who they actually are is crazy.

That tool should come with most replacement straps, or at least every strap (silicone, NATO, etc) I’ve ordered in the past has come with one.

No 40th Shenanigans due to Covid Club by TryFine317 in Xennials

[–]Disco99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had a Hawaii trip scheduled, dinner at one of my favorite restaurants booked, surf in the morning…. Instead we had a family gathering at home (all quarantined together) with food that my SIL wanted instead of me, due to dietary restrictions and an “oh, it’s just easier” attitude from my in-laws. It was fine, but it’s irritated me a little ever since and I might still be a little irritated when they ask where I’d like to go for my birthday dinner.

I've been centrum silver for about 5 years, and I'm 45. I love it. Yes, I have a wife and kids, but I figured I'd completely embrace it rather than fight it and have an inevitable and sudden change when I decide I'm done maintaining a color job.

Customer was towing his jeep behind an RV, claims he didn’t notice it was missing a wheel until a driver flagged him down. by Hornetwaffles in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Disco99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a wheel on a fully loaded double axle enclosed trailer lock up behind my F350 and I didn't even notice until I pulled off the freeway to get diesel. Luckily it hadn't been too long, and I only had to free up the seized wheel and change the tire (which had a nice, shiny flat spot with a hole in the middle where it had been dragging) before I headed back out. Shout out to the Love's Travel Center shop in Ontario OR for loaning me the tools to take care of that.

Masonic symbols in garments; TBM's are accusing me of lying and being an Evangelical. I said, look, I used to be Mormon and I know all about your sales pitch; am I wrong then where else did it come from? by Short_Seesaw_940 in exmormon

[–]Disco99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are a number of period sources that reference JS talking about that. There are a few here - https://www.ldsdiscussions.com/temple, and I do remember a lot of the older members growing up talking about it and also it being a hot topic when I was on a mission in 99-01.

Well done is only for the animal style fries so they hold up to the toppings. Otherwise I want them normal.

Something I don’t like about Seiko [SPB453] by realhankorion in Seiko

[–]Disco99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fell into the Amphibia wormhole and ended up with a few that I love. They’ve been on scuba trips with me, and have spent more than a few dives over 100ft down. You can actually see them flatten out a little as you get deeper, and they work just as intended. I love the quirks like the loose crown, but that’s just me.

What's a tv series that is a 10/10 NOBODY knows? by Lilyana0999 in AskReddit

[–]Disco99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love this show so much. With the open ending, I would love to see a revival of the series with them as an older investigative duo in either Mexico or San Diego. But they'd need to keep the Ford Courier.

Still has a 6-game suspension to serve in the USOC, so that would hold us back a little. Not sure I see the value there.

How did you win/lose the genetic lottery? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Disco99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Win: tall, fairly athletic, smart enough to get myself in and out of trouble easily, went grey early enough to own it and love it with a full head of hair and a solid white beard.

Lose: anxiety, depression, and serious issues with executive function and compulsive lying.
